For me what it kills this album really is the extremely poor production, actually it sucks big time but musically talking the guys had somethin' to offer(maybe without the best ideas ever but at least they tried to record a "positive" album with catchy glammy rocking tracks)...some shots are "Live For Today","Fact Or Fantasy","Problem Child"(nice sax included in the song),"Can't Hang With The Crew","The Law"(the best cut of the album IMO)& "Backstage Betty"(rocks good!)...as i said,a band thta had good intentions but failed on the way to probably "made it big"...65/100 |

This version of PROBLEM CHILD from Maryland (another was from Wisconsin), released this LP in limited quantities back in 1985 & I happened to think it had an extremely cult-sounding vibe going for it. I think the problem is that this band was much more of a Traditional Metal act that incorporated Glam elements (as well as their image), & not specifically a Glam or AOR act (which I have seen them incorrectly labeled as on the web). Vocalist Sean Patrick had a stuffy, nasal tone to his voice that takes some getting used to, but he was much more suited for this style of music they predominately played & less so as a Glam singer. So that may be the problem some of these reviewers are having with the band. But I could see this release easily included on one of those "Hard 'N Heavy Rarities" Bootleg Compilations that included bands like FORTUNER, ANTIX, SURRENDER & SABRE amongst many others. This LP would probably be priceless with some European collectors & I think has been overlooked. |
