The second of the massive selling Cher discs and defintely equal, if not better than the S/T. Take the best five tracks from the S/T and the best five from here and you would have a totally filler free killer AOR disc without a shadow of a doubt. The first 5 tracks on here are where this album is at and are pretty flawless songs. From the excellent 'If I Could Turn Back Time' & 'Just Like Jesse James' to the mega AOR Of the Michael Bolton penned 'You Wouldn't Know Love' and 'Heart Of Stone' - all great songs for sure. It slows up and loses pace a little in the second half, but all in all, this is still one excellent album and justifiably has it's place here on the HH pages.

Stretching the boundaries of Heavy Harmoies to their absolute breaking point, and possibly beyond. There's a lot of really lightweight shit on here, that's cool, but Cher? Good lord, man, what next? Having said that though, a chick in a bar that plays 'Just Like Jesse James' on the juke immediately has my attention.

Judging from some of the replies (many of which have been deleted), there are a whole bunch of people reacting to the name "Cher" rather than having actually HEARD the 3 discs that have been added to HH. These 3 discs are quintessential melodic rock. No, we are not adding the rest of her pop discography, but these 3 albums definitely are appropriate for the site. It's no different from Shania Twain's single rock effort, Michael Bolton's early rock material (Blackjack with Bruce Kulick anyone?), or Pantera's early glam-era CDs. Just because other releases from an artist are outside the boundaries of HH does NOT disqualify those that are representative of the genres here. P.S. Childish insults just because you disagree with an artist being included here will not be tolerated. Have a nice day.

Excellent melodic rock disc. If you love Alice Cooper's 'Trash', Bon Jovi's 'New Jersey', Kane Roberts' 'Saints and Sinners' or any of the Desmond Child driven projects from the late 80's then this is a must too. As Jez notes, this is packed with killer songs like my faves 'All Because Of You', 'Emotional fire', 'You wouldn't know love' and 'Still in love with you'. Not to be outdone are the classic melodic rockers we all know, 'If I could turn back time', 'Just like Jesse James' and the killer ballad, 'Does anybody really fall in love anymore'. And of course, 'Love on a rooftop'. One of those albums where you barely have a chance to breathe before the next killer song hits. Yes, it's Cher but who gives a f*ck? If Bros or Milli Vanilli made a killer hard rock album I'd still give it a go. Good music is good music.

Wow, check out the "who's who" list of big name music talent associated with the performance and production of this album. That's a heavyweight cast.....I'd love to pop off a smart ass comment (chortle, chuckle), but I see that Dan isn't in the mood. If these songs are as good as Jez and Geoff indicate, I'll give it a listen. Maybe my mom, an ardent Cher fan dating to the early '70s, has had it right all along.....Jeff.

Even comparing this to Trash, New Jersey, or even the Kane Roberts disc is a bit of a reach, since they're all harder than this. It's also funny to me that most of the people listed in the credits above are background singers, songwriters, and producers, not "musicians." That pretty much speaks for itself.

This is a great disc, AOR from start to finish. In reply to the above comment, it's the music that matters. Even if this thing had zero fame names it would belong here as they play the music, the Rock sound which is what this site is all about.

Great melodic rock AOR,the songs speak from itselves,only have to take nice taste in quality rock,CHER is not my favorte singer but listen Emotional fire,All because of you,these songs pay tribute to the finest AOR,in fact great album.,9/10.

Yep!!!...this is indeed a great release some of the songs in here are covers of Ken Roberts,Michael Bolton & Desmond Child(who produced this Record)...my fave tracks are 1,2,3,4(killer!),5,7,11(nice)& 12(nice)...recommended eyes closed...88/100

I agree with Geoff. I listened to this cd and was absolutely blown away with the first 5 songs. C'mon MAN!! People stop being so narrow minded and judging books by their cover. who HERE who listens to any type of soft AOR/pop music DOESNT know IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME?!! Fess up, MANY of you even sing to it. Let's be honest. keep it melodic and keep rockin'

@Auslander, since you previously put out a comment for more regulars to chat on the HH message board. I have a question for you. Anyone who has been around this site for more than a couple years knows that it was more important than life itself for "Geoff" to crank out the comments like a printing press here. Did he have a run in with HH management or is he self banished to the message board only now? It's been 15 years since my only appearance on the boards, as I went head to head with the G-man on why I felt Cher releases didn't belong on this site. Since he has so many comments, his avalanche of inconsistencies are unavoidable. Exhibit A: "Yes, it's Cher" "One of those albums where you barely have a chance to breathe before the next killer song hits." Foreigner - 4 (1981). "Ultra light commercial AOR and not my cup of tea at all. Almost pop-like. I like at least one testicle in my music (As in half a set of balls, not a literal testical). This is just so soft it's awful."

@Deputy Doghouse, that's why I come to this site, to live in the past. I've made more comments in the last 2 months than in the last 3 years. So maybe I have too much time on my hands lately. I guess I could launch my own investigation on the boards. Based on the quantity of new comments, the traffic was much heavier on this site 15+ years ago. I find anyone who takes themselves or their opinions on music too seriously, amusing. There use to be a lot of 'flaming'🔥 in the good old days, which some did add entertainment value. I would guess there are under 50 semi-regulars posting comments now. And only a handful on the message board. I've pointed out 17 year old questions----> See 'The End Machine - The Quantum Phase (2024)'. So me throwing out a few comment inconsistencies and " Where are they Now" question is rather harmless. Auslander mentioned previously that he was on the board, that's why I directed the question his way. Anyone can feel free to answer/ignore me. Look up SA

It's a sign of the times (as Lillian Axe might put it). Traffic here was heavier 15-20 years ago, before social media made message boards and comments sections like these obsolete, and before many of us got older and busier and stopped caring as much. Incidentally, KNAC recently shut down their user comments, which had been all but dead for years anyway. I lived a little too much in that world when I was in my early 20's, and when I think back, I don't like that guy very much, and am glad he's mostly in hibernation. But like you, I like to live in the past too and drop some comments here on albums that pique my interest, for people to take or leave as they see fit.
