An excellent debut with some classic cuts. All the guitar work is incredible and Mr. Bonnett gives a fabulous performance. The songs are written as songs and not vehicles solely for guitar solos. Standout tracks are 1-4 and 7, but all the songs are great. Still listen to this regularly.

tomando en cuenta en el año en que fue hecho este records, no hay nada + que se pueda decir; Grahan Bonnet es mágico, tanto más que en la época de Rainbow, como en Impelliteris, una voz excelente, con personalidad, característica junto a Yngwie Malmsteen quien en aquellos años no era tan repetido y asombró al mundo.

This album rocks! Several songs on here really smoked. Just TRY playing the air guitar to this album. And Malmsteen was what, 15 or 16 at the time? Truly worth the price.

Lyrically, Alcatrazz were way ahead of the other early 80s metal bands. They didn't write about the typical stuff. Their songs tackled subjects like racism("Jet to Jet") and alcohol abuse("Too Young to Die"). Plus, Yngwie's on guitar! What more do you need to know? Highly recommended.

Good memories of this album. First time I ever heard Yngwie and what a belter. I played this album until the record was worn totally flat then used it as a frisbie for 14 years!!!

El mejor disco de Alcatrazz, incluso que el Disturbing..., aquí si da gusto oir a Yngwie, ya que ahora se repite más que la fabada. En cuanto a Graham Bonnet, magnífico, aunque para mi gusto personal me gusta más en el Down to Earth de Rainbow, o en el Assault Attack de MSG.

To be honest, this is a very good album. Yngwie is perfect on this album, but also with STEELER and his first solo albums are totaly cult today. HAIL TO ALCATRAZZ

This stinks. Very disappointing. I was looking forward to Yngwie's early work, but he doesn't get much chance to shine here. The songwriting is archaic and tired, and Bonnet's vocals are appalling. The cornball lyrics don't help either. "Island in the Sun" isn't bad, but I'll leave the rest.

Desslar, which songs have cornball lyrics? Except for maybe "Big Foot", I thought a lot of effort was put into the lyrics. Other hard rock bands of the time(1983) weren't even close in taking on the serious topics Alcatrazz wrote about. Check out "Too Young to Die...", in which the lyrics trace the vicious circle of substance abuse from parent to child. Pretty thought provoking stuff for the time.

Well, take Starcarr Lane. Something about sitting around the campfire with Grandpa I think. Hardly very metal. Too Young to Die is pretty cliche.

Oh yes I remember 5.00 bucks two tickets Gram Central Station In AZ.If Graham would have remembered all of the words for Jet to Jet it would have been perfect.But...to much scotch that nite! Yngwie however was flawless and pist off big time.Everyone who was anyone was there representing local talent even Jason Newsted From Flotsum....Chow

As previously stated, this is a group effort, not an Yngwie solo shot. I turned alot of folks onto this in '84 @ UGA in Athens, Ga. We hadn't heard the likes of Mr. Malmsteen and I knew he would be big - he even played a Yamaha guitar on this album (shows what TALENT can do!). I enjoyed the heck out of it - found my old cassette tape the other day & IT STILL SOUNDS AS GOOD NOW AS IT DID THEN! Some very good rockers in my opinion, Mr. Bonnet strains some, but ain't that just rock-n-roll? 8/10

Just pulled this out after a long hiatus. I still like it partly for nostalgic reasons, but it does sound a bit dated. It's kind of nice to hear Yngwie in a more restrained environment, kinda makes his playing stand out that much more. Overall it's still a solid release now if I can just find my Steeler album...

Blue Charvel, you call the sound of this album a bit dated. I dont agree but anyway, if its dated, thats exacly the sound i love about this record. This record, like 99% of the records that came out in the 80s, would have a 90s or 00 sound it will never be the same. The great thing about the 80s is the sound of the recordings, just cult. LETS KEEP THE 80S ALIVE AND FIGHT FOR BANDS OF TODAY WITH A 80S SOUND TO THEIR MUSIC. YESSSSSSSS.

Point taken, I hadn't thought of it that way. I think it's mainly the keyboard sound that (to me) sounds a little cheesy. But I do still like it. I'm definitely an 80's guy, just some of the stuff doesn't sound quite as good to me as when it came out.

This one is a must for any other guitar fanatic!!! His first band here in America, Yngwie's playing was absolutely supurb (and he's even like that in concert). Graham Bonnet, as always, is fantastic (what ever happened to him?). I can't say I have a favorite song off of this album because they're all great!

Well, this is a fine album, sure it looks a lot like Malmsteen's earlier works, since he contributed heavily to the compositions. But this record is where I like Malmsteen most, he sounds raw and fresh here, more appealing, and Bonnet, I think he's got a great voice, very appealing also, almost a unique timber, and it fits perfectly into the heavy/classical metal this album offers. A great album.

Just wanted to add that this is one of my favourite albums! I (now) listen to much more varied music than I did earlier. But this is one record I play over and over and never grow tired of. My likes are first and foremost Deep Purple and Yngwie Malmsteen. But at the time, I listen to NPFR'N'R as a record much more than ANY malmsteen or purple album.... It's absolutely great! 10/10 (anyone else than mr. Bonnet toured for 12 months singing "hiroshima" and "jet to jet"? Nope.. His stamina is BEST!)

When i first listened to the vocals i didn't care for them but they grew on me. Yngwie shines on this one as his playing is more song oriented but still with feeling and finesse. I agree with the comment about the keyboard sound sounding a little dated and fake(same as the sound on early Dio cds) but overall this still is a classic.

Excelente. Un Graham Bonnet experimentado, un Yngwie en ciernes (creativo, apasionado), teclados y sección rìtmica precisos (Waldo, Shea y Uvena). Lástima que sólo dieron vida a un disco en estudio, que sigo escuchando con placer más de 20 años después. Igual el video y los bootlegs. Imprescindible en cualquier colección que se pretenda respetable. Yngwie interpretó "Hiroshima mon amour" en su concierto en México en septiembre de 2001...

I just don't understand the appeal of this album. Yes, it does have some big names (Bonnet and Malmsteen), but they forgot the tunes. Opener Island in the Sun is good, but sounds terribly dated. The rest is typical Malmsteen wanking and weak Bonnet vocals. 3/10

This is decent,with some good track,nothing more,very boring moments and some horrible filler.Malmsteen was already a talent guitarist since 1983,Graham Bonnett is painful,I don t know how singers like G.Edman or G.Bonnett can sing everywhere and awesome voices sing in a single band or a couple of cds’.

awesome possibly the best yngwie performance on disc (he`s playing songs here and not just doing guitar gymnastics)also quite probably graham bonnets finest moment. stand out tunes are island in the sun, hiroshima mon amour, general hospital and too young to die. this really is a great release buy buy buy 10/10

VERY GOOD CD 90/100 MELODIC HARD ROCK like RAINBOW it's a true jewel but sometimes the BAD keyboards ruin everything ! Young YNGWIE is amazing(what a sound !) and GRAHAM BONNET is great , singing very high with rage like in is MSG days !lot of fantastics songs ! the genesis of a genius !

Good decent release...didn't kill me at all..."Island In The Sun" is the best of the album undoubtebly,a catchy AOR tune...then "Jet To Jet","Kree Nakoorie" & "Starcarr Lane" are fine songs...a young Yngwie Malmsteen and a good skilled Graham Bonnet here...80/100

excellent debut by all star band ALCATRAZZ with fine musicianship and a strong sound mostly due to the rough vocals of Graham!all members shine though as they perform in a smooth way!"island in the sun",'hiroshima mon amour" and "kree nakoorie" are great songs indeed!bought it in the late 80s and enjoyed it much

Yngwie Malmsteen arrives on the US market together with the cosmopolitan Alcatrazz and shows his superiority. Malmsteen says that most of the material was written by Bonnet, but that he reworked everything to make it immortal. One of the best records of hard and heavy virtuoso
