Like old VH. Don't wast anymore time, get up, find your keys and find this cd someplace. Dave hit it with this album. The Diamond has a shine to it here. Old van halen fans will crave this with only a taste

From: Date: August 13, 2001 at 20:41
A little like old VH, except it SUCKS! Not a keeper in the bunch! Diamond Dave is gone forever if this is the best he can do.

From: ExDLRFan Date: September 10, 2001 at 9:32
Time to cash it in, Dave. The magic is gone. A collection of uninspired, unmemorable second rate reject tunes. Not worth your time or money.

From: Skid Date: September 14, 2001 at 21:12
This was my favorite cd of 1998!! Dave returned for the best post Van Halen album since Eat Em And Smile.

From: AtomicPunk Date: September 19, 2001 at 12:48
S U C K S! If you put this and VH III together, you still couldn't find one worthwhile song. Don't buy it, you'll regret it!

From: WhiteLion Date: September 20, 2001 at 10:11
A fairly good album, at least four great song. The rest are not as good. One of his best efforts in his solo career!

From: Dragonfly Date: December 16, 2001 at 19:19
Could have made a single out of this cd. Only one song that shines from Diamond Dave. The first one Slam Dunk. Maybe he meant for us to slam dunk this into the trash can. Sorry Dave.

From: DEAN ANTHONY Date: February 5, 2002 at 8:52
If you don't love this CD you must just still be pissed that Dave isn't in VH anymore. Get over it (keep wishing), but give this album a fair shot DAVE IS BACK! and rockin' once more.

From: Mark Date: February 27, 2002 at 23:16
I'm not pissed that Dave isn't in VH anymore. I like his earlier (GOOD) solo stuff from after he left VH. This album just isn't any good. I wanted to like it, but I don't. No really good songs, nothing that sticks in your head. I have to agree with the people who panned it-there must be quite a few judging from the overall rating it received.

From: TIM Date: April 26, 2002 at 3:57
I think that's exactly what Dave meant Dragonfly- lol!

From: pete picasso Date: November 6, 2002 at 17:13
best dlr cd since skyscraper all rock-no glitzy showbiz stuff.he's done worse.buy the jap copy for 4 extra tracks nuke'em and smile,44DD OD!, hook me up,and lick my smokin ringpiece!

From: The Fizzy One Date: November 6, 2002 at 23:58
I remember liking the first single pretty good, but never did get around to buying the CD. Oh well, doesn't look like I missed much. From the song titles though, it appears that ol' Dave is his usual silly self. Am I the only one who finds it EXTREMELY amusing that one of the Japanese bonus tracks is called "Nuke 'Em and Smile?"

From: atomic tommy t Date: November 11, 2002 at 12:55
fizzy one,buy this cd,i think you'll be pleasantly surprised! what's a couple of bucks worth nowadays?check it out! ditto re:Nuke em and smile!!!

From: PleasestopDave Date: December 24, 2002 at 23:16
If somebody gives you this CD, throw away the inserts, throw away the CD, and then you'll at least have a jewel case to use. Don't buy it Fizzy, it's truly awful. I wish I had known this before I wasted 6 bucks or so on it.

From: god Date: January 29, 2003 at 21:01
i think it stinks....should be in my drinkin' buddy lucifer's collection. he likes nuke 'em and smile!

From: DOA Date: February 16, 2003 at 4:43
All I can say is this DLR just plain SUCKS. Sounds like a bunch of demos before they actually become full blown songs. Was there a producer involved at all, or did they just let Diamond Dave's ego run wild? Saw the Dave and Sammy tour last summer, and thankfully he didn't play any of the crap from this waste of time.

From: TYTAN Date: March 25, 2003 at 22:01
"Slam Dunk", "Little Texas", and "Tight" are all good...everything else is kinda second rate. I miss the more polished Dave from Skyscraper and ALAE. Still, it DOES rock harder than VHIII...ok, ok, what doesn't, right?

From: dlr fan Date: April 17, 2003 at 20:40
hey listen daves still has it he just needs to get with the right group of guys so im still rollin 4 ya dave

From: DavideB8 Date: June 25, 2003 at 21:21
This is the best albun Dave has ever made is his solo carreer. In here there is Mr.Rock alive and kicking.

From: Metal T Date: May 10, 2004 at 20:04
Kick-Ass set from David Lee !--Though many of you M'Fers out there think DLR is a washed up prick, he can still deliver the goods better than most of the wanna-be frontmen in the genre.Congrats to VH,you guys once again F'd-Up another great opportunity to reunite with Dave. Again, the DLR Band cranks !--Don't beleive alot of the negative sh*t posted above ! ------------

From: DOA Date: May 13, 2004 at 2:50
Don't believe the positive sh*t posted above, this CD really sucks! I liked DLR back when he could put out quality stuff. This, sadly, isn't it. 0 stars.

From: Metal T Date: May 13, 2004 at 11:38
The DLR BAND record cranks !------F'OFF .

From: Rockhead Date: May 13, 2004 at 12:24
This Cd lacks choruses. The sound is great, the musicianship very good but the songs do not compare to either eat em or Skyscraper. With regard to DLR's voice-the studio is a very kind place. Live he is now past it-a shame but there ya go. This sits above some of his solo releases but way below others.

From: Metal T Date: May 13, 2004 at 14:37
Easily better than the last two VH records with Hagar & Cherone, which were pure dog crap !

From: DOA Date: May 18, 2004 at 3:14
I wouldn't say a CD being better than the VH/Cherone travesty is paying it a big compliment. Listen to any bar band in the country and you'll hear better tunes than VH 3. That said, this is by far DLR's worst ever. Sounds like some fairly bad demos that never actually got polished into songs. Dave used to be great, apparently those days are long gone. This certainly does not "Crank", by any stretch of the imagination. I wish it did. If you have 4 bucks you feel like wasting, buy it used.

From: Propane Date: December 3, 2004 at 11:12
No onehere is pissed, we just know a mundane bore when we hear one. No energy, no creativity, no positives.

From: Metal T Date: December 3, 2004 at 14:31
Id take a so-called "halfhearted attempt" by DLR trying to recapture some old VH vibes and sounds over anything the current VH has done in the last 10 + f**king years. Mundane ? NO positves ?--get real .

From: jabe Date: March 29, 2005 at 22:10
A couple of the negative reviewers above must be on crack. This cd does actually have a few good tunes on it.The main problem with this cd, is dave's voice which is nearly shot."Slam dunk" for instance,is an awesome song, but Dave's vocal is terrible. It comes across like Grover on acid.Still, we have "Wawazat" and "tight" which are both good, and to me,the best song on this cd is "little Texas" which could just have easily been on "Eat em and Smile".

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 10, 2007 at 21:28
He came strong with this release but as jabe said maybe the voice of David was a little burnt here.Powerful songs with that "thing" that characterises the Diamond!.7/10

From: jedilato Date: June 1, 2008 at 15:13
At the first time i though that's it, Dave's BACK!!! But after a few more listen came out the real truth that only 2 tracks are catching me: Slam Dunk and Little Texas, the rest is average. Here Dave should put together a band and work harder, cause for a start of a new era this album should work well.

From: Remastered Reason Date: December 16, 2010 at 14:49
When this first came out, truthfully it was on the shelf getting dusty & got no rotation on my cd carousel. WTF was going through my mind? Guess it got lost due to the fact that my vinyl was gradually being replaced by cd & the new releases of the day were mostly all crap anyway. So, decidedly this disc came to my attention after years of neglect & listening to "Eat'em & Smile". Seems many rockers need to go back and revisit this disc as well because it's not nearly as bad as it has been made out to be. To the contrary, tracks like "Relentless", "WaWaZat", "Indeedido" & "Tight" flat out crank with some smokin' vocals, tight rhythms & killer solo axework. In fact, thumbs up to Diamond Dave for having the bull nuts to release an album of old-school quality in a time of musical debauchery.
