Dee Snider formed "Desperado" with ex-Gillan guitarist Bernie Torme, ex-Maiden drummer Clive Burr and bassist Marc Russell. This is a great commercial metal album, sounding much like a follow-up to "Love is for Suckers". After listening only twice I can't even fathom why Elektra shelved this CD. Perhaps the "big hit" wasn't there. I'm glad it finally was released. "Emaheevul," "Gone Bad," "Calling For You," and "Ride Through The Storm" have all reappeared on other Snider projects. |

Great album but I`m not sure its an official release as I`ve read various interviews with Dee where he says this was never released,he also mentions it on the Dee Snider solo album "Never let the bastards wear you down" as never being released! |

Elektra was initially supposed to release it in '92 but didn't. It was eventually released in '96 on Destroyer Records. Dee was also selling them on his website but I haven't seen any lately. |

This is indeed a GREAT disc! I'm not the biggest Dee Snider/Twisted Sister fan, but this CD freaking RAWKS! As Scott pointed out, this release could've fallen in right behind "Love is For Suckers", even though this release isn't as commercial. "The Maverick","There's No Angels Here",and "Emhaeevol" are my faves....Big thanks to Christine for introducing me to this wonderful disc! |

Quite cool, as the info at the top says, it's basically just Widowmaker Mach 1. Opening track Hang Em High kicks serious ass, but it's the only song I truly love on here, whilst a lot of other tracks turned up on Blood & Bullets and Never Let the Bastards Wear You Down, and in regards to Emaheevol, I think Widowmaker's version's much better; has more punch. All songs can be streamed from deesnider.com so you can hear for yourself, personally I don't think it's worth the $70 it now goes for. 7/20 |

That should read 7/10, not 7/20. Sorry. Anyway just to add to this, in all honesty for someone who's only a passive fan of Dee's work, is curious about this, but put-off by the price tag... I recommend just buying Widowmaker's Blood & Bullets; has more hooks and is all round a stronger album (providing superior versions of any songs that made both records). Only for the die-hards (though that $70 price-tag one would expect no one else to be bothering with it anyway), but still a good rock CD. |

Visit Dee Snider's website and make your own Mp3 cd-rom from this wanted cd. Save yourself a lot of money, cause the ebayprice is +/- 40 euro. |

'Ride thru the storm' was a good slab of hard rock. Pretty great song actually. I traded this away ages ago and I did think it was a good enough CD - better than the 2nd Widowmaker disc, but not as good as the first. I won't go out of my way to track it down again, but it was decent while it lasted. |

This one is re-released through Angelair (uk) (in the usa: deadline/cleopatra) under the original name: "Ace" and contains tracks 1-11. Great disc anyway 9/10 |

After many years I finally get my hands on the long-lost Desperado CD... Why BLOODIED BUT UNBOWED got the record-label shaft back in the day will forever be a mystery, as it probably would've done rather well; it's certainly better than the last few Twisted Sister discs. As previous posters have stated, some of these songs eventually wound up on the debut Widowmaker disc, in a slightly heavier/nastier form, but collectors should seek out these versions too. |

Al fin tengo este CD, que realmente no es tan grandioso musicalmente hablando, creo que su valor real es por su rareza que por su valor musical, considero que es un buen disco a secas, nada del otro mundo, pero vale tenerlo por su rareza. 7.5/10 |

Was a late comer to this one..but better late than never cause this is a d*mn good record! A big 'Screw Off!' to Elektra for not releasing this badboy.Copy ive got is under the Desperado/Ace moniker..at times it sounds like Dee fronting Sweet F.A...not bad at all. |
From: Jimmy D | Date: October 23, 2009 at 23:51 |
This is quite possibly Dee Snider's best work. A very solid, thoroughly enjoyable CD. Great songs...and Dee sounds great |
From: metalmaniac777 | Date: January 1, 2010 at 8:34 |
A good, hard rocking disc, but there's really no reason to get all desperate and pay a bandit's bounty for it, since almost all the best tracks latered appeared on Widowmaker's debut ("Blood & Bullets") in slightly heavier (and better) form. Still, if you do opt to add this to your collection, you'll find Dee Snider sounding as defiantly in-your-face as ever, and he's brought some hard-stompin' songs to back him up. |
From: pie75 | Date: July 13, 2010 at 10:45 |
i'm so glad this saw the light of day it's a great album some of the songs did wind up on widowmakers blood and bullets and are better versions like gone bad, emmahevual, and calling for you not that these versions a bad either and songs like hang em high, the maverick, the heart is a lonely hunter, there's no angels hear and ride through the storm are all fine stuff and dee's voice is inspired |
