| good stuff. if everyone cared is a pretty good song. i would call this cd modern day aor. im not selling out, but credit where credit is due. these boys are ok in my book.

| Easily their best CD, imo. These guys are actually really solid heavy rockers. 'Side of a bullet' is just a monster of a song, but again the whussy tracks are highlights. I like 'Photograph' and 'Savin' me', but 'Far away', imo, is by far the best song these guys have ever recorded. A true gem. 'Animals' is another kick-ass hard rocker. The vocals are always going to be bad but the songs/music are great.

| I don't have a problem with them either. I agree with Geoff, this is their best. I'm not sure why so many don't like this. They remind me of Hair of the Dog and they are listed on this site. This is fairly simple rock with intriquing yet basic lyrics with awesome sounding drums, bass and guitar. The production and singing make this better than it probably is live. There are parts on this that sound fantastic that would be impossible to do live without 5 vocal parts. Still great when I'm in a mood and everyone loves "Animals" when I play it for them.

| This is the CD on which Nickelback finally realized that writing good hooks for all the songs instead of just a couple of carefully-crafted singles was the way you create a great album. All the tracks on here are worth listening to (assuming, of course, you're a modern hard rock fan), meaning the "Skip" button on your stereo will start to feel neglected due to lack of attention. Bottom line, if you like catchy modern hard rock, there's absolutely no reason not to have this in your collection.

| This disc is the best and worst of Nickelback. You can give these guys credit for at least being somewhat old-school, in their way, and bringing a much-needed sense of fun back to MAINSTREAM hard rock that had been missing for ovver a decade. So this disc shows them breaking away a bit more from the boring post-grunge of their first couple discs, with highlights like "Animals" and "Side Of A Bullet." On the other hand, "If Everyone Cared" comes off as a disingenuous "message" song, and "Rockstar" is an absolutely dreadful attempt at country crossover. Seriously, everything about this turd of a song, from the chords to the melody to the harmonies, to Chad's pretend-hillbilly vocals, sounds like modern pop-country.

| "Animals" and "Side Of A Bullet" are pretty good songs. But then you get songs like "Photograph" and'If Everyone Cared," maudlin crap that seems aimed at the dumb rocker guys' girlfriends who mostly listen to country music. And "Rockstar" sounds like a Kid Rock B-side.
