Junkyard is a really good band. I wish I had the chance to see them live, but never did. This album has four great songs on it. "All The Time In The World", "Slippin' Away", "Misery Loves Company" and "Clean The Dirt". I guess they weren't good enough though because Junkyard ain't around anymore (I don't think?).

I wouldn't call this great, but it's pretty good blues metal. Lose the fast songs and it's better still. Good ballads.

The song "Slippin' Away" was co-written by Steve Earle. I think that is real cool! S. Earle was/is the last of the country "outlaws" (if you ask me). Before rock had "bad Boys" it was country music who had the drugs, alcohol and jail-time. Guys like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. I have always thought of Steve Earle as one of those "outlaws." It just seems right that he did some work with a band like Junkyard. It's a very cool song and you should check it out!!

Damn good band. Full of good energy, with some catchy guitar hooks. I even have some unreleased stuff, which is just as good. What happened to this band. Does anyone know.?????

Not as good as their debut, but not a bad effort either. I found this album to be a little more polished and lacking some of the rawness from the first album. Great live band too. I saw them back in '90 and it was killer!

Another quick note: Junkyard also recorded material for a third album but were dropped before it was ever released. It was to be a double album and most of this material can be found on bootlegs entitled "Joker" and "XXX" . The songs sound like a good mixture of their past recordings, a little less polished but excellent quality. You can usually find a copy of this for sale on ebay from time to time.

'clean the dirt' is a cover from tex and the horseheads but also my favorite 'yard tune..i love this album very much...i still have to hear the first weak junkyard song and i have joker and xxx. one of my alltime favorite acts.. they re united for a tour in japan but i wish they would release the previous mentioned titles officialy...does anyone have the lyrics to their music? nitrodoll1974@hotmail.com

I just looked at the credits for the song "Clean The Dirt" and it says that David Roach and Chris Gates along with Mike Martt wrote it. Maybe the song you are thinking of by Tex and the Horseheads, just has the same name?

Junkyard also put out a live album. Or live in the studio. It's called "Shut Up, Wr're Trying to Practice," or something very similar. Most of the songs are from the first album. It came out in 2000 I believe. I haven't heard it, only know of it. elfizzbo@hotmail.com

This one has even more of blues influence in the riffs to my ears. It's not worse or better than the debut, it's just a little different. I really dig Roach's vocals. 8/10.

This album kicks ass as did it's predecessor. If you enjoy bands anywhere from Cheap Trick thru to Nickelback mixed with Jackyl, I highly suggest this album to anyone. Rock under and Roll over-Bobcat!

this is not as good as the first cd but it is still a very solid album. has nothing to do with a glam outlook on rock. Very street, dirty, anti-glam sounding band that should have been bigger and more well knon

Hey guys... I was fortunate enough to be friends with Junkyard during their heyday. They were a GREAT band, and I was lucky enough to see a lot of their shows, tag along in limos, get into cathouse free, and go to great parties with them! I even played in a band with drummer Pat Muzingo after Junkyard was through. NOW***** "CLEAN THE DIRT." Mike Martt wrote this amazing song. When Junkyard covered it, they added some new lyrics, and thus received writing credits. They were friends with Martt.

Not nearly as good overall as the debut, sadly, but with some good tunes here and there. Better production, but they just don't seem to be feeling it as much. The Fizz picks: "Back on the Streets," "All the Time in the World," "Give the Devil His Due," "Slippin' Away" and "Misery Loves Company." "Killin' Time" also.

I'm in the minority,but I dig this more then the debut.The last track is a pedal to the medal ass kicker.Love 8 out of the 10 tunes.Great southern fried hard rock.Criminallly underrated band.Love the lyrics to Misery.....(SO TRUE)

It's funny I was just talking about Jetboy and my comments for their first 2 CDs are identical to my thoughts on Junkyard. IMO, both had very average filler-packed debuts with a very simple sound and no decent songs... IMO, I stress. And both second albums, while I don't like this much more, are better and saved by a very nice ballad. This time it's the lovely 'Slippin' away' which saves the day for me. Overall, exactly like the debut but this time with a killer ballad. Great track.

The sound quality is better than the debut, but the songs themselves don't seem as good, adn several of them are kinda samey. Still worth it if you liked the first one, though. My favorites: All The Time In The World," "Give The Devil His Due" and "Clean The Dirt."

One of the better, really outstanding, solid, hard rock albums of the early 90's (that not a lot of people have probably ever even heard). What a shame. I didn't catch on to this one until 10 years or so after it came out, but I'm really glad that I finally did. Every song is great. Very catchy, well written bluesy hard-rock with almost a country-rock swagger to it. I find myself listening to this one much more than either of the Guns N' Roses releases from that same year. Highly recommended.

Better than the band's self titled debut even though the one mentioned is a fine fine fine release ...basically this whole album rocked me except tracks 7,8 & 9 which were kinda normal stuff to me..."Misery Loves Company" reminds me enormously of The Quireboys,"Back On The Streets" kicks a**,"Slippin' Away" nice semi acoustic song and so on....recommended album of the underrated band,shamely...90/100

excellent release by JUNKYARD and one of the best among great ones back in 91!hard rockin groove,fine guitar work,many hooks and catchy songs is what you get by a band that is still faithful to its sound and i believe that with 679s could be massive somehow!anyway all the songs are remarkable and especially "back in the streets","give the devil his due","slippin away" and "killing time"!brilliant !

For some reason, this disc has gotten far fewer spins than the debut, which I absolutely love, and which occupies a permanent, non-negotiable spot on my MP3 player. But I just threw Sixes, Sevens and Nines on there yesterday and cranked it up ... and it's a really good disc. A bit more laid-back than the debut, trading some of the scrappy punk attitude of the first album for a bit more of a bluesy rock 'n' roll swagger. The overall feel is just a little bit more like a lazy Sunday afternoon jam than a rowdy Saturday night of the debut. I think I'lll be jamming this one a few more times this weekend.

Interesting trivia, coming from an interview I did years ago with drummer Pat Muzingo. According to him, this album came out the last week before SoundScan was implemented, the last week when sales figures were still dependent on the individual record stores reporting them accurately. He said this album sold 107,000 copies its first week, but due to notoriously shoddy and/or downright dishonest reporting on the part of the stores, those numbers weere never registered. Obviously, 107,000 copies in its first week would have been a VERY good number fo ra band who, let's face it, weeren't really alll that popular.

Doghouse, with your interview of the band member I was curious if you where working for a radio station,print media,ect. at the time? I did some air personality/D.J. time in radio, rocker clubs,promotions,ect. back in the KNAC era. As a program director once told me when I was first starting out.. " Son, you have a face for radio and a voice for print".

It was a website, dude. not the reincarnation of KNAC, although I did write some revviews for them circa 2001-2003, for free CD's. I have done some radio, though, in college, so I guess that doesn't count as "real" radio. I always had a fascination for that medium ever since I was a kid. Still have fantasies of winning the lottery and buying a station and doing what I want with it.
