Any melodic hard rocker who doesn't own CD is missing out on some quality stuff. UNRULY CHILD's debut will forever be legendary in melodic rock circles, and rightfully so, but this sophomore release is a solid follow-up, rewarding fans for the long wait between albums. There are better vocalists out there than Kelly Hansen, but he meshes well with the music here. So, bottom line, while 'Waiting...' isn't as good as the band's debut, they did manage to avoid the dreaded sophomore jinx.

From: ROB GARCIA Date: March 17, 2003 at 13:08
very good follow up to the already classic debut.kelly hansen does a commendable job in the vocal department but im afraid mark free he is not!.i still think that the first album will take some beating to knock it off of the best album title, anyway UC still manage to release very decent albums wether mark free is or not anymore in the band....and thats fine by me.

From: koogles Date: March 20, 2003 at 3:32
Whilestop giving bad ratings to other bands!!!!!!!Unruly Child not a classic, somebody was correct about you!!

From: koogles Date: March 20, 2003 at 3:32
While Mark Free's voice and Beau Hill's production are both sadly missed, this is a reasonably good release with a few standout tracks like 'Do You Ever Think of Me' and 'Still Believe'. Could be a Hurricane album disguised as an Unruly Child release. Fans of Kelly Hansen MUST hear Atsushi Yokoseki's Japanese 'Raid' CD!! It blows this CD away!!

From: David Date: March 20, 2003 at 4:01
Koogles, could you please tell us a bit more about Atsushi Yokoseki's Raid?

From: koogles Date: March 21, 2003 at 14:28
At first sniff, it looks like your average Japanese CD that, to the untrained eye, might be written off as the same old Yoko Ono. BUT... thirty seconds into track 2, even the most restrained and poised AOR fan will be JUMPING UP AND DOWN LIKE SOME BED-WETTING, MEDICATION-NEEDING, 8-YEAR OLD CHILD! Kelly Hansen's vocals are PHENOMENAL and the song BLOWS AWAY anything he did with Hurricane! Song 3 sees David Glen Eisley step up to the plate and his track ROCKS with an UNMITIGATED vengeance!

From: koogles Date: March 21, 2003 at 14:34
Cherie Curie of Girlschool, Ray Gillen, Jeff Pilson also sing lead on different tracks, but it's that KILLER Hansen tune that does it for me. A song that is- trust me- IMPOSSIBLE to RESIST!! Production is crystal clear, causing the track to literally leap out of your speakers, put you in its sweet death-grip for 4 minutes or so, and then leave you panting, breathless and ready for more!! If it sounds as good as sex, you're probably not that far off the mark.

From: koogles Date: March 21, 2003 at 14:37
BTW, the above ranting and raving was directed at Atsushi Yokoseki's AMAZING 'Raid' CD and not the Unruly Child 'Waiting for the Sun', which is decent in its own right but vastly inferior when ushered down the aisle next to this Japanese MONSTER released in 1993 on Phonogram.

From: Rycheage Date: July 3, 2003 at 16:33
This is a fine, fine album. I personally feel it's more like the style of a Hurricane record than Unruly Child, but what do I know? However, if you're only exposure to Unruly Child is their first album, you may be disappointed with this effort. On it's own it's an essential record, but... there's just no competing with Beau Hill.

...again, there are two songs on this album with titles from 'Rise Up' by Bobby Kimball.. Can someone tell me what's going on? 'Rise Up' and 'Live In The Night' are both featured on his album.. See my comments also for the first Unruly Child album.

Unfortunately I'd already heard all my fave tracks of the CD before I heard it. 'Forever' had always been a favourite of mine and I love it here, 'Do you ever think of me' is also a long time fave and my preferred off this album. And also 'Who cries now', whoops! I mean 'Heart run free' is so damn similar to the aforementioned track off the debut it's amusing, but luckily both are killer. Overall, a good hard rock album but they're my faves. Clearly not as good as the debut.

From: ashen_light Date: December 31, 2004 at 8:52
Haven't listened to the debut album yet and for some reason I wasn;t impressed with this one at all. Just another AOR/HR band. Don't get me wrong, people: Kelly Hansen is one of my favourite singers of all times, but IN MY OPINION his incredible voice 'looked' better with Hurricane's sound.

From: z4roxx Date: December 31, 2004 at 9:29
but you must listen the debut album, one of the best aor releases!!!this one is a shit in paragon, believe me!!!

From: headbanger4life Date: December 2, 2005 at 2:54
Well it looks like I'm in the minority on this on because it loved it. 'Rise Up' is a killer track in my book. I'm a big Kelly Hansen fan. Maybe this does sound more like Hurricane than Unruly Child but it still rocks. I picked up the Japanese version with a bonus track and it gets a lot of playing time.

From: aTomiK Date: August 6, 2007 at 13:47
Sorry to say, but this album is not so good. Only three or four good ones here: 'heart run free', 'rise up', 'waiting for the sun' and 'do you ever think of me' which BTW can be heard at least on three albums (this one, Stuart Smith´s Heaven and Earth and the best version is on the Message cd Fine Line)

From: Axe-Machine Date: November 3, 2007 at 12:16
If you don't take this as Unruly Child album (which yields too may comparisons to the debut in what is essentially a different animal with Hansen on vocals)then it is actually very enjoyable. This sat on my shelf with minimal airtime for way too long. Bottom line: not as good as the debut (but did we really expect that), but nevertheless a very good album. Recommended.

AWFUL! don't buy boring and...well crap...KEEP ROCKIN ALL!!!

From: andi Date: January 1, 2011 at 10:33
the only thing i can say to this album is....FOREIGNER!!!Similar too FOREIGNER!!Absolute!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 2, 2011 at 22:02
Pretty good album with Kelly Hansen(former Hurricane and nowadays Foreigner singer)...well obviously Mark Free gave the band the position needed but Kelly did a great job too...2 different kinds of voices but with the same target:quality!!! ..."Heart Run Free" is fantastic!!!,"Rise Up","Do You Ever Think Of Me","Fool Again"( atmsphere) & "Waiting For The Sun"...those songs will put a in your face surely...89/100

From: hair metal again Date: August 22, 2011 at 2:40
excellent 2nd step by UNRULY CHILD with Kelly Hansen on vocs and it s a good one!Bruce and Guy are fantastic songwriters and this is also obvious here.totally agree with Geoff s comment and i want to add that "man inside","to the cross" and "waiting for the sun" are also good songs.

From: darobinson Date: August 22, 2011 at 21:14
I am a huge Mark Free fan but Kelly Hansen is truly amazing as well. Great choice for vocalist on this release. Excellent stuff right here!!!

From: 123charpenay Date: September 27, 2017 at 13:05
good record but the exceptional beau hill s production and the superb voice of mark free are missing.i m not a big fan of kelly hansen and hurricane.here i ve the feeling to hear a hurricane cd.not really my cup of tea.in foreigner kelly hansen have exactly the same voice than lou gramm certainly a miracle of technology!!!!!!!!!!

From: titothetitan Date: November 18, 2020 at 19:23
Great band, great singer, and an album that is quite disappointing. After a greeeat opening song (Heart Run Free ) it's level is never reached again and you'll get just some ok songs.
