great memories for me here esp on the tracks 'keep me in your heart' and the cool ballad 'superhero'. cool melodic rock n roll a bit like Dokken? tomcat@dolfijn.nl

From: HG Date: March 2, 2002 at 22:37
One of the best indie releases of the era. If I could get them back into the studio, I might tweak a few things, but it's not like a band like this was going to have a million dollars to spend on production.

From: Patrick Date: July 9, 2002 at 13:41
Hey HG, If you'd like to try a remix, I have the tapes. Email me at mailer@ameritech.net

From: Andre Tekken Date: July 26, 2002 at 9:50
This album is quite impossible to get!Nobody ever heard of this band! And also it is completely out of print!BUT,I fortunely got some tunes on the (dead by now)audiogalaxy.Great guitar work a lot like Dokken but a bit heavier and agressive and strong drums!Er.. the vocals this guy sounds really like a real Barracuda fish singing!!Reminds me of early Geddy Lee from Rush(progressive band),and I'm not kidding!!Overall interesting band!!78.5 out of 10!!

From: DARTH Date: October 9, 2002 at 16:10
Memory and Superhero are great tunes. Some very good guitar work on this cd. Some of the songs are average but still good. Keep Me In Your Heart is very good also. Find it if you can....it's worth a listen.

From: JF Date: January 3, 2003 at 2:27
This CD is one of my favorite indie releases too. They need to re-release it. This would be a great seller on a label like Perris Records.

From: HG Date: January 4, 2003 at 5:36
Sorry, Patrick. Didn't mean to sound like an armchair QB last March. You guys rocked. I would kill for some demos or other rarities from Barracuda.

From: tomcat 777 Date: January 4, 2003 at 22:28
i agree with hg , i would love to hear some stories and stuff about this band... tomcat@dolfijn.nl

From: Alex Auvenshine Date: January 24, 2003 at 2:34
I was just searchin for the band and I came across this. My dad is the original bassist of the band, Jim Auvenshine. Its cool that theres people out there that still listen to them and stuff, they're great!

If anyone is interested in releasing Barracuda product, let me know. I have previously unreleased material as well as the raw tracks and masters. email patrick@barracudamusic.net

From: BARRACUDA Date: February 26, 2003 at 22:09
HG, no offense taken. I love t receive opinions from others, as well as mix ideas. Contact me if want to get involved. You are right. We didn't have much of a budget back in those days. The sound was not what we were expecting, but then, what could we expect from such a small label and such a small budget ($5,000). I am open to all offers. I have a boat-load of unreleased recorded material that everyone in the band would love to see released. patrick@barracudamusic.net

From: tomcat Date: February 27, 2003 at 10:50
this is my third posting concerning this disc..the cover hangs on my wall before me...i dig this disc very much...isn't there any label like perris or whatever that would re release the album with some bonustracks and all? I listened to this album alot when i was in highschool and i gave the song 'superhero' to one of my girlfriends back then and she was impressed..so... thanx patrick so what did ya do after that album? rock hard tomcat@dolfijn.nl

Back in 90, I took a chance on the cassette 'Open Fire' from the $2.99 bin. I fell in love with Barracuda's music. I have looked for 2 years on mp3 servers and couldn't find Barracuda. I'm pleased to see this album was cut to a CD and that more than just my circle of friends have experienced it. To me Barracuda is somewhere between the sounds of Junkyard, Disneyland After Dark, and Vain. I keep singing to Thirty Years and Memory. Great album, Rock on - Thanks a bunch, d9ball_ryder@yahoo.com

From: V.V. Machine Date: February 2, 2004 at 16:28
The second album would have been 10 times as good. Too bad it never was released. Sean is still one of the best guitar players around.

From: Barracuda Date: February 2, 2004 at 21:47
V. Lets have some fun. I really want to release the 2nd album. Call me, email me, whatever. Sean has my number. Lets do it bro'! I think Sean is in. I spoke with him before Christmas. Has he called you??? The studio awaits... By the way... not only is Sean the best guitarist, you are also the best snare smasher...!!! P.

From: V.V. needs oil Date: February 5, 2004 at 20:52
I told Sean that I am in if he is.....it needs to be released.....better material than the first....

From: metalhead 101 Date: March 8, 2004 at 6:26
I have never heard of these guys, but if and when they do another release I will surely pick it up. This sounds like my kind of music! Patrick, please don't forget us here that post and still wait for your music!

From: jessica96fish Date: April 11, 2004 at 9:24
music wise i think these guys rock.but i think the singer could have done a better job.a bit to screamy at times.but very good guitar work.

From: gener8tr Date: April 14, 2004 at 13:06
I found this one AND Bashful - Down For The Count at the same used record store. I purchased this one after seeing the cover and release date. Any 80's hair band with a sultry woman on the cover of their CD is okay in my book. Don't remember the music striking a chord with me that much? Again, I'm still looking for another lesser-known band reminscent of Blue Tears... Any ideas?

From: Jim Date: April 22, 2004 at 17:45
Pat, Sean, Vince, Stephen-- What? You're not gonna call me? Same bat number.

From: Patrick Date: May 12, 2004 at 9:40
Jim - lost your #, call me. Vince - Call me. Recording will begin this Summer for the next record. Should be released by September. Keep an eye on our website at www.barracudamusic.net

From: T Date: May 20, 2004 at 12:38
I cant wait to hear the new stuff. You guys always kicked ass. Good luck you guys.

From: Rockhead Date: July 13, 2004 at 8:08
This is an OK release but IMHO nothing out of the ordinary. The production is good for an indie but the songs are nothing you havn't heard a 100 times before.

From: jessica96fish Date: July 14, 2004 at 9:09
agree with rockhead.their are better indies out there.music ok.don't like the vocale to much.buy it if you can get it cheap.

From: LV KIX Date: February 3, 2005 at 21:05
* Seem as if peoples opinion of this on goes both ways. My opinion, very good release, there is something for everyone on this one. Very good songs and very good players. Did get to see these guys one when they played in good old Baltimore. I would recommend this cd to people who appreciate good songs and capable musicians. To bad more people don't get to hear thiss one. I am willing to trade a CDR if anyone is interested.. leave email here Thanks.... Dave

LV KIX - I remember some company actually video taping that gig. Any idea where a copy might be found?

From: LV KIX Date: February 9, 2005 at 22:12
Pat- I believe everyone who played there had the show taped. I know a few people who used to work at Hammerjacks, I'll see what I can find out ... Dave

From: LV KIX Date: February 18, 2005 at 22:55
Pat... I talked to a few people about that show you were looking for. It might be possible to get a copy. I have a few phone numbers that might help you if you are interested. The people that I talked to said it might be better if you called... cause if I called, they may think I just wanna sell the tape. I'll get you those numbers if you want.. leave a way to best reach you if you are interested. Dave

From: Pat from B'Cuda Date: March 1, 2005 at 21:06
LV Kix - Thank you so much. My email address is patpulver@comcast,net Thank you again LV...

From: Geoff Date: March 10, 2005 at 2:26
Not a huge fan of this one. It's competent, but IMO it's not much more than run-of-the-mill 80's hard rock. A pretty weak Indie production job, but the songs are okay. Not essential, but not bad.

From: Mullethead Date: March 10, 2005 at 15:38
I would have to disagree. This is very essential for all lovers of 80's rock! 'Keep Me In Your Heart' s awesome and this guy has some pipes! 'Superhero' is also a very worthy ballad. Recommended...... JL

This is pretty good for an indie, the only thing I don't like is the guitar. Decent chops, but he drifts in and out of key on the solos. Decent tunes and a decent singer though.

From: rockers2000 Date: September 8, 2006 at 11:25
Anyone know their full biography or have any pictures of them, please email me. I am making a page of them for my web: www.rockers2000.net www.rockers2000.net/bands/barracuda/barracuda.htm Thanks.

From: shark attack Date: May 26, 2009 at 12:39
The album cover promises so much (reminds me of the JILLSON cover), but the music is a bit hit and miss. But the biggest flaw is that a rear (butt) shot of the girl on the cover should be gracing the back of the CD. As for the music, well it's cheap and cheesy 80's hair metal with a handful of good songs with above average sound and musicianship.68/100

From: rick kerch vzla Date: June 7, 2010 at 21:43
I quite liked this act...Hard Rock with some touches of metal here and there...Patrick's voice has some hints of Minoru Niihara (japanese singer of the well known band Loudness)..about the songs the album opens fire with a very good song "In The City","Keep Me In Your Heart" is a personal fave,"Thirty Years" is a very solid number, like it a lot,"Open Fire" is a killer one, obviously and most likely the best track(at least 4 me),"Superhero" is a fantastic semi acoustic ballad, definetely along with "Open Fire" the killer duet!,"Back Door Boogie" has a nasty groove,a cool number and "New Attitude" closes nicely the album...buy!.85/100

From: Erikk Date: July 11, 2021 at 14:45
Nothing really special. Is ok but none of the songs really stick out IMO.
