VERY GOOD CD 87/100 EAST COAST HAIR METAL with guitar hero inside ! I have this since a week or so !and it's an absolute killer !!!!! Sounds like a missing DANGER DANGER album with some old DEF LEPPARD backing vocals !! and what about the GREAT guitar playing of MR MARCELLO (exIRON HORSE also guesting in OBSESSION): well ,Exceptionnal !! The Vocals courtesy of Mr VESTRY (exBURNING STARR)are fantastic very smooth but with a lot of balls ! Obviously the prod by BRUNO RAVEL is PERFECT! BUY or DIE

From: aorjocke Date: May 15, 2008 at 14:40
Got it this week and must agree with YNGWIEVIKING that it's an absolute killer Melodic Hardrock with traces of AOR in some tracks CD! The Guitar playing and vocals are just perfect and it has alot of keyboards that makes it big and fluffy...perfect for an AOR guy like me! The album starts with the hard hitting 'Fireworks' who has alot of keys and a big refrain...very good!'Ready Or Not' is a bit harder but has also a great big sing along refrain,'Gone' is more on the AOR side, like 'Heavens Edge' - 'Find Another Way'...Great!'Without You' has an killer intro with big keys and guitars and a super smooth refrain. And of course you got an killer ballad on this CD it's the track 'What You Mean' where Vestry sings with alot of heart and soul...so good!'Love Injection' is also one of the more AOR oriented songs with alot of keys and a killer refrain! If you're a fan of Danger Danger(first), Heavens Edge,Valentine(Hugo) kind of Melodic Hardrock you're must have this in you're collection!

I can only repeat what the two esteemed gentlemen in front of me wrote. This top class AOR-ish hard rock. If you love the Screw It!-era D2 as much as I did, you NEED to have this in your collection!!!

From: stryper Date: May 23, 2008 at 11:34
brilliant album!! a must have disc and one of the contenders for album of the year so far!!!

From: RockMan10 Date: May 24, 2008 at 13:25
This is a fantastic disc. You can tell that these musicians spent a LOT of time making sure everything was first class. I do hear very small Danger Danger comparisons on some vocal harmonies but musically, this is more like 21 Guns, Shark Island or the second Unruly Child disc with Kelly Hanson. Like the others, I highly recommend this. It is just a great disc that will be played a LOT! 87/100

From: juan carlos Date: May 25, 2008 at 21:08
This year is giving us Great Melodic HardRock albums and Marchello/Vestry is not the exception.. Great Chorus/Riffs/Keyboards, excellent Production and Nice Melodic Solos. 'Love Injection' 'Fireworks' 'One More Night' are The Highlights to me. 'Gone' 'What You Mean' are Excellent Power ballads. A Must Have for sure. 9.2/10

From: Geoff Date: May 27, 2008 at 23:15
By far the best album of 2008 so far; that I can say for sure. Every now and then (only about once a year) an album like Attraction's 'Get up and shake' or Blind Date's s/t album comes along and blows your face apart in the same way the classics did back in 1988-1992. Well, here's another one. 'Fireworks' is the perfect opener and everything after (except 'Gangster of love') is amazing too. 'Gone' and 'One more night' are two of the best songs of the year... the verses in 'Love injection' are just heavenly and 'Without you' has arguably the best chorus of 2008. Guitarwork is excellent, vocals are also my favourite in a long while. I just can't fault this amazing disc. Essential.

From: MetalianStallion Date: May 30, 2008 at 2:49
I think the DD(Poley) comparisons are valid with a dash of Tony Mills. You have to ask yourself how much better would this release have sounded if Marcello teamed forces again with Paul Laine on vox? Lyrically 'Ready or Not' is a bit cheesy but 'without you' makes up for it. Overall a good, not great release IMO.I have a quick question for GEOFF. You list the time period 88-92 as being years of the classics? Where you a little older than a itch in your Daddy's pants in the 80's hey day? You've made up for lost time as the reigning king of comments on this sight. I can totally agree with you that bands like Frontline,Jaded Heart(Bormann)lead the pack of melodic rock. Then at the same time how can you rate Ted Poley - Collateral Damage one of your top picks for 2006? It seems that you highly rate alot of CD's and need to separate the wheat from the chaff. If somebody is going to pay their hard earned money for a CD from my comments.Put your money where your mouth is with a number rating.

From: Geoff Date: June 2, 2008 at 2:45
Yes, I was born in 1979, making me very young in the 80's. But I've heard enough since to know 88-92 are my favourite years in music. Why, what's your point? Your comment about me being an itch in my daddy's pants made me wish I was blind or had been struck in the face by a polar bear before I had the opportunity to read it. And yes, Ted Poley's 'Collateral Damage' was one of my favourite albums in 2006 (sorry if you didn't like it, but that's not my problem) and the only discs I rate highly are the ones I like a lot. There are plenty that I don't rate high, which you'd see if you look a little further. I will rate albums with a number when I feel I have listened to it enough times to be accurate. Why does me doing this concern you? Rather than waste space here, join the message board and we'll continue our chat.

I was born in 65. What the f... has that got to do with it. Weather you have to be born in a certain decade to have a honest opinion about the music. So MS stop your remarks on someone's personal taste. Kinda useless and senseless aint it. Taste is PERSONAL. Having said that: this is one hell of a record. Together with HEAT and the release( only 1000 copies ) of Roulette ( from sweden - similar i dare say in style of Da Vinci ) my 08 favorties for now. Personal note for MStallion: maybe change your name to rockinghorse...

ROCKED MY WORLD!!!!!!!!BACK TO THE OLD GOOD DAYS.....

From: Axe-Machine Date: June 7, 2008 at 8:37
This is a really good album. It has a few songs I could live without (Gangster of Love, Live Life and What You Mean), but other than those songs it's superb. Love Injection, One More Night, Ready Or Not and Without You are the highlights, with more than a nod (unsuprisingly) in the direction of Danger Danger. In a world where Hair Metal style albums are few and far between, this one is a must. Higly Recommended.

From: erik Date: June 8, 2008 at 5:27
And keeps getting better by the spin ! Contender with HEAT for me for album of the year

From: MetalianStallion Date: June 10, 2008 at 3:03
GEOFF, I got tipped off from a friend that you had some comments about me in the message board. Something about you wanting to tie my legs around my waist while you stare into by pleading eyes and try to open my mouth? Sorry but I don't want any part of your hot Oil/leather MANOWAR fantasy. As far as your comments about stupidity obviously you couldn't read between the lines as I was trying to bait you for a Laine/Poley comparison. IMO Poley is a second tier talent who lacks the pipes and stage persona. So I had to laugh when you referred to one of Poley's song's as 'mind blowing'. Everyone has their guilty pleasures and as Erik said people have different taste but I'm sure you would agree there is top shelf talent and then there's the rest. Your policy of # rating a CD after you review it is a head scratcher? I haven't seen one # rating yet from you? If you can't carry the Heavy Harmony torch pass the baton. P.S. Please post more pictures of your CATS...

WOW!!! Where has Mr. Vestry been all this time? This is better than any Danger/Danger album. Lets hope they stick together for another album or two. Good stuff....

From: headbanger4life Date: June 21, 2008 at 6:45
HOLY SMOKES !!! I just picked up the Japanese version of this one today and I have to say that this currently the top contender for my favorite album of the year. This is great Melodic Hard Rock mixed with AOR. To me, I hear mixes of D2, TNT (Intuition era), and Def Leppard (on some of the backing vocals). I've never heard of Marcello or Vestry until now. I didn't even know that Rob Marcello played with D2. Where has Frank Vestry been. He has a total 80's AOR voice. I can't believe that this guy hasn't been associated with any other artist of this genre. I see from the above comments that he was with Burning Starr. I've never heard any of their material and I can't find them on this site either. Can anyone tell me if their stuff sounds the same as this. To top off this great release, the Japanese version as bonus track. I am truly glad that there are artist like this out there who are carrying the torch and keepin this genre of music alive.

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: June 22, 2008 at 6:01
To headbanger4life : I think there is no offical recording of JACK STARR's BURNING STARR with mister VESTRY but i can recall he was playing with ROSS THE BOSS in a short lived outfit after his departure from MANOWAR ! anybody know something about this GREAT singer ?

From: shoemaker Date: June 22, 2008 at 6:42
VESTRY sang on JACK STARRīS BURNING STARR 'Rock the american way'. Rereleased on metal mayhem music 2000. In my opinion the best work from JACK STARR, fine melodic hardrock. 80/100

No way erik, H.E.A.T is a phenomenon. Hope they keep rocking like this first album.

From: george_the_jack Date: July 6, 2008 at 9:47
Together with H.E.A.T the best albums in 2008 and WHAT a dream year this is!!!!!!

From: jedilato Date: July 10, 2008 at 14:57
I must agree with the coments above, this is truly a dream year for us. I hope there will be even more releases like these in the future... For this one, i don't have to spend the words, it's AMAZING!!!! There's only one question left, if this album is this good, what will be like the new Danger Danger with Mr. Marcello playing the guitars???

From: KickYourFace Date: July 12, 2008 at 16:59
Wow! First thing I want to mention is song #10. Gave me goose-bumps. I give this release a 85 out of 100. Songs #7 & #9 are not good enough to go on my IPOD. Vestry's vocals are superb & Marcello is one of the greatest guitarist ever. Kudos to everyone involved in making this release a reality. -KYF

From: shark attack Date: August 3, 2008 at 12:12
Awesome late 80`s Hard Rock with superb songs, production and playing skills that would grace any TNT,TYKETTO or DANGER DANGER CD from the glory days. Incredible then, that this was recorded and released in 2008 proving that this type of recording is as valid today as it was 20 years ago. ESSENTIAL!!!! 90/100

From: Maxi Date: August 4, 2008 at 0:29
Damn...this CD rocks!! great debut from marcello vestry, awesome production with huge influence of 80's hard rock! the vocals remind me of robert mason (lynch mob), cool guitar riff with kick ass drums sound! i can compare this with danger danger or lynch mob! no doubt bout this man..check out the best songs such : Fireworks, Gone, What You Mean, One More Night..Amazing!! totally recommended 90/100

From: Rick Thunder Date: August 11, 2008 at 20:24
What a great production we have here, perfect sound and perfect rhytm, love injection and fireworks are my fave tracks

From: rick kerch vzla Date: August 11, 2008 at 23:50
One of the best Melodic Rock/Aor releases of this year!!!Highly recommended!!!...if you like catchy melodies with power guitar riffs then get this album right away!!!95/100

From: jstoyz Date: August 17, 2008 at 1:59
Melodic hard rock bliss...Agree w/comments above that ony HEAT S/T compares for album of the year so far. If Paul Laine had provided lead vox., I'd have been so thoroughly 'blown away' I might not have recovered. As it is, Mr. Vestry should be congratulated for being in top melodic form. I'll be especially spinning 'Fireworks,' 'Gone,' and 'One More Night' for a long time to come...

From: chalometal Date: August 30, 2008 at 18:24
marcello- vestry, brother firetribe, rockarma ,h.e.a.t., are the bands of the year, mmm i would like add Mr. axel rudi pell album, i hope 'tales of the crown' be another one in my 2008 list.

From: chalometal Date: August 30, 2008 at 18:55
Sorry for my great sin , i forgot gypsy rose 'another world' , another 2008 gem.

From: shoemaker Date: August 31, 2008 at 11:10
I donīt understand the hype here. The album is good. It has a strong opener, but all in all not very impressiv. In fact the songs 3 and 9 suck!

From: shoemaker Date: September 4, 2008 at 8:44
This stuff is overrated. Far from brilliant. It sounds like the first DANGER DANGER album. Its not very original. Some people here are very fast with 100 points rate. For me 100 points is brilliant at the test of time!!! 90-99 are very good. 70-90 good stuff. 50-70 more or less average. under 50 is the weak sector.

From: roxxygene Date: October 11, 2008 at 9:39
ANOTHER BUY OR DIE CD!!!!!!!!! GREAT GUITAR PLAYER.....MUST HAVE FOR DANGER-DANGER FANS.....BUY THE JAPANESE VERSION IF YOU CAN.....GONE - ACOUSTIC VERSION AS A BONUS TRACK IS VERY AWESOME.....ALL KILLERS NO FILLER.......SALAM 3 JARI........

From: zoomanthree Date: December 19, 2008 at 21:36
FANTASTIC RECORD!!! record of the year (2008). if i not wrong marcello is danger danger band guitarist in live album (live n nude). can imagine that he have great talent to make this execelent record with vestry. fully hardrock album. recomended.

From: z4roxx Date: March 10, 2009 at 14:15
This is melodick hard rock/aor that worths to be listened forever.Okey,it's very commercial but how many albums did you mind to hear who contains these sounds, this feeling, this prodution....not so much for me.One of the best choruses arrangements ever heard, great guitar works and vein, very good voice(not great ok).I think this an hit-album among the best ever.

From: Sly009 Date: February 27, 2010 at 10:25
This IS one cd I just could listen after and after again. the 1 song Fireworks is Okay, but 2 to 10 Great!! Bands today should have at least 12 to 16 songs, 10 songs is a bit short. enjoy!

From: edwithmj Date: August 27, 2010 at 18:02
Excellent hard rock. It sounds very similar to Danger Danger's revolve and the singer sounds a bit like Paul Laine. I was hooked from the first listen.

From: halfordhughes Date: May 8, 2011 at 8:41
this is very good Melodic Hard Rock!!!

From: MelodicMetal4Ever Date: July 4, 2011 at 15:03
awesome melodic hard rock...singer's voice is perfect for this album. The sing-a-long choruses are SOOOO catchy. You can't help but smile and sing along while tapping your feet. for me the stand-out tracks are Ready Or Not, All I Wanna Do Is U, Live Life, What You Mean & One More Night. Highly recommended!! 85 out of 100

From: the rocker Date: October 10, 2011 at 19:37
OK, it is 2011 going on 2012. Where is new music from these guys,or even just Vestry. This is to good to not have a follow up!

From: Ponen Date: February 23, 2016 at 12:05
Geoff is correct. It was the best release of 2008 as far as I am concerned. This album is what melodic rock is all about and why I love this genre. It has all the ingredients. Nothing is amiss. The melody, the hooks, the beat, the production - all perfect. In an era when the U.S does not even come close to what the Scandinavians have been delivering in the melodic rock market, this album surpasses many top releases since 2008 to this day. The rave reviews and the ratings it got after its release is a testimony in itself.

From: hair metal again Date: May 25, 2021 at 9:09
sensational release for MARCELLO VESTRY as often happens when Bruno is involved!explosive hair metal music with an updated production(and not AOR of course)and those great Frank s vocals along with blistering guitar work from Rob and top notch songwriting surely makes it among the best of the recent years!essential
