This album is one of the best ever.When i first heard this on its release it blew my sox off. There are some great songs on there specially Infatuation and the fantastc n prize for the loser. The only downside to this album is that it is too short and after this debut album kiss of the gypsy were never (as far as i know) heard from again which is a great shame.

Urgh!Bon Jovi wannabes with turgid formulaic music to match...Stay well clear of this album unless you "wanna rock until the break of dawn,woman....."(Janes Addiction had a masterpiece out at the same time as this...Go figure who had the innovation and longevity...)

Kiss of the Gypsy split soon after the album release and partial acclaim in the states. Tony and George still play together in Blackpool, UK as Cowboys and Angels doing cover versions. A bit of a waste really!

Awesome band, awesome album, bloody shame they split. Tony Mitchell was one of the genre's finest songwriters and vocalist. In the days when 90s bands are reforming(Tesla,Winger etc) wouldn't KOTG take the plunge ? I bleeding hope so...come back guys we miss you !!!!!

Say these guys play over a dozen times... have all the singles, CD and Vinyl.. ironically saw them first supporting the hairspray and toothpaste advert, Winger... The best album I've ever heard from a group that didn't make it.

just recently purchased this release. found a used cassette at a video/book store. this was my first time hearing them. it's really sad this band never made it, they had alot of potential

Absolutely incredible live! I saw them open for Tesla in Manchester ('92). Both were phenominal. Possibly the best rock album of all time never to make it. One of my personal faves forever. It would be cool if KOTG made another record 10 years on...but then why spoil perfection?

The "Sleeze/Glam" classification is totally off on this one. Think Bon Jovi's energetic little brother who has been listening to KINGOFTHEHILL and Tesla and you will get the picture. The ballads on the last half of the cd are incredible rootsy rock hair lost klassics. The mid-tempo rockers are mostly bland and forgettable. This is an excellent disc for those who love Tesla's ballads or Bon Jovi's "Keep the Faith" (heaven help you).

More of an AOR CD along the lines of Jagged Edge UK, Unruly Child or House Of Lords, but not as good. An OK CD though.

Excellent blues driven hard rock in the vein of House of Lords. Tony Mitchell sounds like a dead ringer for James Christian. "Blind For Love" and "Whatever It Takes" rock. Worth getting on the cheap from eBay.

A good cd with some excellent moments like the beautiful ballad "Take this old Heart" (which is indeed the real standout of the record) and the cool closer "Promised Land". "Infatuation" is an awful song, but all the rest is definitely enjoyable. You should give it a listen if you like melodic hard rock with a bluesy touch.

saw them supporting TESLA at hammersmith odeon 1991,they were excellent.my brother bought the cd when it came out & i loved it,havnt heard it for years .i recently got 1 myself from germany,played it last night & it sounds even better now.reminds me of the wicked cd FUNKOMETAL CARPET RIDE by ELECTRIC BOYS-also rare!makes me angry when great british bands like this disappear.the music industry is fucked up.come back boys your country needs you. frontiers label would have you!

i remember being a highschool kid and some dude brought over an adult movie with the title 'kiss of the gypsy'..later i bought the cd with the same name..anyhow, an ok cd with lots of quality but not a disc you crank up to rock the place..

Hi! I don't personally know Darren Rice, nor have I actually heard the album, and I definatly don't live in England...however, I do have an English friend who knows Darren and he highly recommends the album. I will look for it in our Canadian music shops and hopefully find it...and when I do I shall listen to it. From what my English friend tells me, I think I'd like the album. Oh yes, and HELLO JAM!!! *waves* Say hi to the other twin for me and greet Daz as well.

Bought this album when I saw that KOTG were going to be supporting Magnum for a few dates. Utterly boring, both recorded and on stage. Reasonably talented, but utterly boring. Of course, what band isn't utterly boring when compared to Magnum?!

Pity the band split, apparently its something to do with the singer Tony taking all the credit for the writing of the songs. (thats involved somewhere along the line anyway). Good album

A great album by a great, if shortlived band. I saw them at The Marquee in Charing Cross road (before they turned it into a Wetherspoons)and they blew the place away. It really would be great if they decided to have another crack at it. Just like the rest said, the best album by a band that didn't make it that you'll ever hear!

Great album...very awesome in the the bluesy hardrock with a bit of funk thrown in. No Prize For The Loser is an awesome bluesy-Ballad.

Tony Mitchell sings on the "Return to the Centre of the Earth" by Rick Wakeman. Hope to hear more from him soon...he's a genius.

I had this ages ago and sold it ages ago. If I recall correctly 'Blind for love' was a decent song and the ballad, 'Take this old heart' was also quite decent. Overall, not a bad album but pretty boring for those requiring big hooks, chunky riffs and soaring melodies. Perhaps for Little Angel fans? Not sure... pretty average stuff.

The band that I would compare this with is THUNDER. Both british and Zep inspired. But if this album will be compared to THUNDER's Backstreet Symphony, you would shed a tear for this band. You will absolutely be moved by Backstreet... while this, you'll have to wait for the good songs. And I also really thought that they rocked hard 'coz of the pictures of the members rockin'. Misleading. This is THUNDER starving to death & not having enough sleep.

Incredible,I did want to sell this one,fortunately I've heard again it:fantastic cd.Great musicianship,catchy mid-tempo hard rock well produced,sorry but I am not agree with most of comments here and the rate is ingenerous IMO.Not a single filler for me...9.5/10!

Hardrock con su toque Bluesy y eso hace que no sea tan del agrado de la mayoría. Ojo que el cantante y los coros son de los buenos y la producción es de primera. "Take This Old Heart" y "Blind for Love"(la voz me recuerda a Kip Winger) los mejores pero el resto(no todos) si que está aprobable aunque claro, no del HardRock puro. 7.8/10

This is a pretty good album over all it kind of reminds me of Black Crowes meets Cinderella if you can imagine that. They definetly have that blues rock feeling. I wonder what happened to these guys ?? I put this album in the middle of the pack with my collection. 70/100.

In a word, boring! Average rock with nothing really memorable. Maybe Take This Old Heart if you are into ballads. The 99 cent Ebay average tells the tale for this Cd.

This lot only recorded this album as far as i know...the album is a decent one with its ups and downs but quite interesting...an underrated band perhaps that didn't get attention at all.."Whatever It Takes" & "Blind For Love" are probably the oustanding ones but not leaving behind "Take This Old Heart","Keep Your Distance" & "Promise Land"..the voice of Mr Mitchell is relevant...anyway nothing out of this world but neither a complete waste.80/100

I prefer the band GYPSY KYSS brilliant folk-rock/metal.
