Great album. Excellent hard rock songs with very fine musicianship and superb vocals from Johnny Gioeli.

A killer Album. Johnny Gioeli rules ! Check out "Cold heaven" and "Only the strong will survive"- best tracks on the CD. But the rest is also great. A must have for you all !

From: vandervelde Date: April 27, 2004 at 21:50
It's nothing new but who cares. It's great, bombastic hard rock. Pell from album to album play more commercial, arena rock...check out the song Only The Strong Will Survive..simply it's 80's US...

There is nothing here that Pell hasn't touched on already, but he delivers it in a fashion that lets the listener know he/she is hearing it for the first time. Gioeli is in rare form and provides (Again!!) the backbone for this CD. The production is extremely good and crisp and the mix was done well. "Legions Of Hell" and "Sea Of Evil" are the standout tracks, dark and moody to the core. The entire CD is hard hitting and just what the fans expect.

It realy is like the other albums but it is great. I like being able to recognize mu favourite band.

From: wicked man Date: August 26, 2004 at 5:10
This is the first album I've listen from Pell and I must admit the songs are nice although nothing original... Gioeli is a great singer, but Pell provides the worst guitar work I've ever listened! What a ridicolous guitarist!!!! C.C. Deville would have sounded better!! If you'll survive listening to Pell's solos then you'll like the music on this album which is not bad at all.

From: AOR freaky Date: August 26, 2004 at 5:22
Wicked man, Pell the worst guitarist you've ever heard ? ! Then I suppose you didn't hear a lot of guitarists ! He's great, O.K., maybe not original, but bad ? ? ? ? ? ? No way, great record and great guitar !

I've liked every album I've heard from Pell, which is quite a few. The songs are good, the production is usually pretty good too... but... although I wouldn't go as far as wicked man, I do think Pell is overrated as a guitarist. He's decent, but sometimes he just goes beyond his capabilities when he soloes and the result comes off as somewhat amateurish. Doesn't stop me from enjoying the band as a whole though, I haven't listened to bands just for the guitar since I was a teenager.

From: Kip Date: August 26, 2004 at 13:20
WHAT?!?! HAVE ANY OF YOU LISTENED TO THE AWESOME SOLO IN THE CLASSIC PELL TUNE 'MAGIC'?? Overrated my (__)!!! Best songs here: Cold Heaven, Forever Angel and Legions of Hell. This may be his best album to date. If it's not, it's his most consistant album from start to finish.

From: T-Bone Date: August 26, 2004 at 17:12
Axel is an awesome guitarist, but the only 2 complaints I've ever had on any of his cd's is that alot of his songs start to sound alike because he NEVER changes his sound or tone. He needs to explore a little more. I'm not saying abandon...just expand. The other complaint is that you can hear his fingers slide on the strings every time he changes a chord. He needs to start using some finger oil or something because I can hear it more and more on every cd he does. It's a little distracting

From: wicked man Date: August 31, 2004 at 7:11
He just needs to start to take guitar lessons... Pell awesome guitarist??? He plays worse than my 14years old brother! Any guitar player from ANY 80's hard rock can play better than him (Mick Mars and C.C. Deville belongs between the worse guitarists of the 80's and they've recorded better solos than Pell).. we don't need a guitar hero like Malmsteen (I hate his solos) but, hell, a little bit of feeling in a guitar solo wouldn't be bad... This doesn't mean that this album is bad, but , again, Gi

(continue)Gioeli's voice can turn everything to gold! HE is the MAN on this album! With a 'real' guitarist (i.e. Michael Schenker,Doug Aldrich or George Lynch, just to name a few) this album would have been A LOT better!

From: Kip Date: September 1, 2004 at 1:41
"He plays worse than my 14years old brother!" Well damn sign that kid to a contract!! this is insane. Axel is one of the most technically gifted guitarists in the world. The fact that he doesn't overuse the wooo pedal or drift into random bouts of jazz or psychadelia, and the fact he basicaly sticks to his classical influanced minor chord arpeggios just means he know what he likes and knows what he does best. Again, I point to the solo in 'Magic' and listen in awe no matter how much I hear it.

From: Kip Date: September 1, 2004 at 1:43
And I agree Gioli is the man. He's getting better with age. He's come a long way since his Hardline heyday.

From: Geoff Date: September 23, 2004 at 19:18
As some pop singer said, 'You always save the ebst for last'... I believe. This is, IMO, the best of his collection. As Kip says, the most consistent of all, and what do you know! 'Forever angel' is actually a great ballad - who'd have guessed you'd find one of those on an ARP album... aside from the pretty good 'Silent angel'. 'Cold heaven' is great too. Good solid album.

From: Ahuea Date: September 30, 2004 at 0:45
Great cd, true that it's nothing new to the ARP music, but it's still first class rock!!! he's got the formula to make awsome songs, and has a great singer to do it, also an excellent drummer 10/10

From: AHUEA Date: September 30, 2004 at 1:04
Take the Crown is one of the best songs done by ARP, and Gioeli rocks!!!

From: Emi Date: November 27, 2004 at 3:56
excelente album, lleno de melodias con mucho sentimiento,de lo mejor del 2004

From: Revenge Metal Date: November 29, 2004 at 17:31
Axel the great, really this is a very good Hard Rock/power album with some melody and killer guitars. My favorite song are "Strong As a rock", "Flying High", "Only the Strong" and "Cold Heaven". I'm waiting the next recod.

From: IcE Date: February 20, 2005 at 12:03
Yeah... ARP could not be one of the greatest guitar players... but it's much more enjoyable than Tolkki, Turilli and even Mike Romeo... this guys sucks, an incredible technique , but no feeling at all... i can't listen any of his solos twice. Well, Gioeli it's the name of the album, Axel always had good singers. And, his lyrics sucks, too., but it's a solid rock album.

From: roxas Date: April 4, 2006 at 1:08
Things start off well with the usual intro, then we get the thunderous brilliant speed song which Gioeli was born for followed by a pretty weak ballady number. Strong as a rock then fails even with a really nice hook "too weak to rock the nation". Forever Angel get's things back and is an absolute moster ballad right up there with the best of 'em. Sadly then the album doesn't do anything else for me. Very poor I have to say it just didn't work for me and I do like ARP as proven by my older posts

From: BDrums1971 Date: March 13, 2011 at 19:06
Sorry, but Axel's solo's make me cringe. I can't believe any one would like his style. It seems like he is making it up as he goes along with no clear path. And no feeling. I have actually quit listening to him because of the horrible solos. I like the music ok, but his soloing ruins it for me. Anyone else? I seem to be the only one.

From: BDrums1971 Date: March 13, 2011 at 19:12
Ok, I see wicked man agrees with me. I CAN'T believe the rest of you can tolerate his soloing (Axel, not Wicked Man). I admit I am very picky about my music and demand excellent production, writing, playing and singing before I will enjoy it, but how can ANYONE think Axel is a guitar god is beyond me. You guys must have low standards, cuz what I am hearing is pretty poor as far as professional guitarists are concerned.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 22, 2011 at 21:33
Good album with the main man Gioeli on vocals!!!...Axel as usual being great with his guitar work and the rest of the guys doing their best...my faves are "Flyin' High","Strong As A Rock" & "Only The Strong Will Survive"...80/100
