This is a great album. Something of a return to their prog roots after the melodic rock of 'Tall Ships'. 'Cartoon Graveyard' is very good but the pick of the crop for me is 'Meadow and the Stream'.

When It Bites release a new album it is always a date to set in the diary, although it doesn't happen very often - 5 albums in over 25 years isn't exactly prolific. Nevertheless, they always pretty much come up trumps in the quality stakes and 'Map Of The Past' is no different than previously. As mentioned, it is slightly more Progressively led than previous releases, but all the It Bites trademarks are still intact, so existing fans (and hopefully a few new ones too)will undoubtedly relish in some of the fine songs on offer, 'Clocks','Man In The Photograph', 'Cartoon Graveyard' and 'Stream' especially. Very highly recommended.
