I really like this one. Nothing like any of Nikki's previous projects. Maybe a bit too modern sounding for some here though!

This is a really great CD, but I have to admit it does kind of fade at the end. 'Life is beautiful', 'Tomorrow' and 'Accidents can happen' are all very good, 'Pray for me' is pretty much the best song on the album - killer. 'Heart failure' is another winner, and I love 'Girl with golden eyes', especially the lyrics. The last 3 tracks could have been left off it imo, but overall this is a great slab of commercial modern hard rock. Best Crue-related release since 'Dr Feelgood' imo.

Geoff states it perfectly..a great release..much more modern than Crue but still an excellent release..But do go looking for any Resemblance of The Motley sound cause it ain't here...

“The Heroin Diaries” is total Sixx! What do I mean? This is one of the most intense albums of the year 2007 and it wasn't meant to be a Crue album. The music is so personal, phenomenal and amazing so as to blend with the haunted lyrics in perfect harmony. Modern & pompous at the same time. Fantastic release!

From: Scrounger Date: July 22, 2008 at 12:09
Nikki Sixx has lost the plot, has lost all his taste, associates himself with 3rd rate musicians who are "motley" wanna-be's. This is music for emo's and modern nu-metal heads to reminisce about in 20 years time as some "lost gem", and "they shoulda done more albums" (NO! coz they suck!) Motley's new record is okay in places, Nikki should just stick to making more crue records, rather than wasting money and everyone's time!

Whoa, opinions were varied for this one! Never having been a Crue fan (although loved their self titled and much guilty enjoyment from some of the well known tunes), didn't know what to expect and gotta say pleasantly surprised. Actually borderline blown away, Sixx doing more here conceptually than the second Mindcrime installment, seconds & emo I definitely don't get!? Stunning in its song simplicity but managing to be completely captivating, no easy task! Performances are ace and while I was no true fan of the book either (found it too be a bit too overblown bloated to be honest), the honesty and bare truths shine much better under the amplifier, case in point Accident's Can Happen with its sheer open armed call to you or I who may be toeing the downward spiral. Even when embracing life tunes such as the mighty Life Is Beautiful manage to rock without being too sunshine strip pretentious. Delve in and enjoy, this one's worth your coin! Keen for the next installment 2011!

Definitly one of the best albums since the turn of the century. And I mean ALBUM as in the entire album. It feels perfect from start to finnish and delivers a certain feeling troughout the whole album. Amazing songs that really grabs you. There is a lot of anxiety and a mellow feel but also alot of melody. Amazing vocals and variated songs.

Has that Sixx self indulgence theme throughout, but who cares this is a cool album. "This is Gonna Hurt" is better, but this is worth checking out also. My fave is Life is Beautiful.

Good modern album by Nikki. He has every right to release different music than with Crue, but in places this is a little boring. Not great, not bad either. Just an average modern rock album from the besserwisser that he will always be. To tell you the truth, Nikkis song writing skills have gone downhill on all music post Dr. Feelgood. A few killers yes, but more fillers and average songs on all releases since. But still, what Motley recorded in the 80s, is good for many a lifetime. I don't think they will do better than SOLA, which was a rather good album, not great, but a nice try it was. Sixx A.M. is interesting, but I haven't listened to it since I first got it. Go figure.

Life is Beautiful is almost a perfect song.
