Classic debut from a classic band. Back in the 70's Starz were an excellent hard rock band that coupled hooks with solid playing. This album is in the same league as 'Rocks', 'Angel'., 'ASDiamond is a Hard Rock', 'Fool For the City' and 'Destroyer'. So many bands have been influenced by Starz and on the strength of this release it is easy to see why. If you have not heard them ALL their albums are excellent but this is an excellent starting point.

Fantastic hardrock from the USA ! This is their first and their best, although the other ones (exept their fourth) are also classic stuff ! At least as good, if not better than classic Aerosmith, but they never made it ! Heavy, good songs, still a pleasure to listen too ! After Legs Diamond, and together with BOC, Montrose, Angel, Triumph, Roadmaster, Creed and BTO, one of the finest hardrock acts from the seventies ! CHECK IT OUT ! Rockhead has it right !

All-American good time hard rock mining the same vein of gold as KISS' 'Dressed to Kill' or most anything in the BOC catalog. 'Fallen Angel' sounds like a top ten hit, even though it never broke into the top 40, 'Boys In Action' would be a fantastic Spinal Tap rip-off if it wasn't six years older than the movie, and 'Pull the Plug' is a lyrical downer that rocks. Excellent production by Jack Douglas. Like the squiggly drawings in the margins of your fifth-period notebook. Stupid but personal. A+

Just updated the good old vinyl copy from years back - forgot how good this one was, and more importantly how influencial it was on a lot of bands from this site (The Crue, Poison, Cinderella, Bon-Jovi etc). A typical Jack Douglas sounding production from the time (Aerosmith, Cheap Trick) rounds off a fabulous release. The Re-issue on BGO is excellent - remastered, with excellent packaging including a nice slip case. Yummy

a hard rocking kick ass classic from a hard rocking kick ass band.starz is indeed one hell of an american rock'n'roll band.their self title release is an example of a killer classic.pull the plug, night crawler, and the rest of that album is just pure greatness.if i was stranded on a desert island i would take this album with me.

Not bad - some great hooks - your classic 70's sound rock disc. I was kinda expecting more I guess.

excellent debut for STARZ back in mid 70s and def one of the best of that decade in hard rock music!the way Michael sings surely defined the 80 s frontmen along with great groovy guitar lines ,fine sonwriting and that attitude makes that one a milestone!"pull the plug","detroit girls",'live wire" and "boys in action" are fine songs indeed!essential
