|They go on tour with Pantera for a while and they all of a sudden try to be them! Sad album. Slave is still the best!!!
||Date: October 31, 2001 at 17:55|
|Can you say Def Leppard 'Slang', Dokken 'Dysfunctional' or Motley Crue 'Generation Swine'??? All the greats have done it but needless to say, they are alright albums if you forget their past ones!

|Good album, one of their best. It really showcases Sebastian Bach's awesome set of pipes. Buy it, you will not be disappointed!

|'Awesome set of pipes?'.........Chris, Chris, Chris.......... I take it that you have never seen Sebastian live? Believe me, you don't want too.

| I don't fuckin care that some guys don't like that album. I am a real Skid fan and love evrything they do. There are some really cool songs here - 'My Enemy', 'Eileen', 'Frozen', 'Ito Another'... I love it, as everything else Skid Row used to do while they were still the best with Rob and Bas. SKID ROW RULES! That's what I say hehe.

|What a disappointment, in the musically hellish year of 1995, to find that Skid Row was coming out with a new album, and to wait eagerly to get it ... and it's so mediocre. You can tell Baz is doing his best to seize control on this one, and the songs suffer. They try so hard to be Pantera, and Baz screams his balls off every chance he gets, far too often. THe good songs are 1, 5, 9, 11, and 12. One good thing is the production which is as good as on Slave to the Grind, if a little more polished

|I have to agree with Fizzy on this one! BUT they did a even better Pantera record than Pantera could do! (not including 'cowboys from hell', when Phil was still 'singing':-) Skid Row = all-time favorite (w.Sebastian offcourse) Does anyone have the site to Sebastian Bach???????

|A totally new and very controversial Skid Row! No matter good or bad, after their former albums at first this really creates a shock! Because there is the domination of dark metal and alternative-rock here. No hair, no hard-rock at all. Some people will love, die for it and some will disgust! I'm neighter of them but I have to admit sth: Even if alternative is not my kinda music, it's so strange that this is a pretty good album, even better than the real damn grungers!

|Skid Row going thrash metal?Thats right.Every self respecting hard rock group trying to find its routes in the big Heavy Metal family.Sometimes they try to be like their idols,groups that they love to heard when they were kids.Thats not fault.The fault is to 'sell out' for some dollars more and trying to be the new Nirvana or the new Backstreet Boys.Frozen's mind-tempo thrash metal and excellent balland Eileen will crush your skull...Absolutely No Alternative

|If I'm not mistaken, this came out after they had toured with the likes of Anthrax, Pantera and other heavier acts. It seems to have definitely influenced the release. Definitely not a consistently great disc, but there are some real ass-kickers on here.

|Horrible album; too much of an alternative spin.

|El mismo día que lo compré, se lo vendí a un amigo. Un disco absolutamente insoportable. Si de verdad te gusta el Hard-Rock, odiarás esta mierda. Cayeron muy bajo intentando imitar a los grupos alternativos del momento. 0/10

|Skids does it again.Again, they make a right turn toward individuality when evey other band turned left toward the white shirts.First listen I was with everyone else and thought it was a Pantera clone.No?It actually sounds heavier than it is.A bit more than Slave, but not quite Cowboys From Hell.I liken it to a smarter STP.Bach's voice is even better on this release as he hits ranges few can do, gutteral to screams (you have to love the screams).This grows on you after a few, so give it a shot.
||Date: September 4, 2003 at 6:04|

|'Slave to the Grind' saw Skid Row adopt a heavier and more aggressive sound, while still churning out great anthemic songs. 'Subhuman Race' continues with the heavier style, but unfortunately doesn't deliver the musical goods like its predecesors did. There are a few strong tracks on this(in particular 'Into Another'), but the rest are bland 90s metal. Heavy? Yes. But it lacks the personality and charm of their previous releases.

|This one isn't as heavy or as metal as Slave To the Grind was. Too bad. Still pretty good, though. There's no heavy metal band better than Skid Row!

|HORRIBLE DISCO, INSOPORTABLE DE ESCUCHAR, NO TIENE SENTIDO. RECORDEMOS QUE ESTOS AÑOS DE LA MITAD DE LOS 90 FUERON MUY TRISTES PARA EL MUNDO DEL HARD ROCK, MUCHOS GRUPOS DE LOS 80 QUISIERON ACTUALIZARSE AL GRUNGE O AL TRASH CON RESULTADOS MUY LAMENTABLES. LO DE SKID ROW ES PARA LLORAR... ESTA BANDA TRUNCO SU BRILLANTE FUTURO CON ESTE MUY MAL DISCO, POCAS VECES DIGO QUE UN DISCO ES MALO, PERO TENGO QUE DECIR QUE ESTE LO ES

|I agree with someone who told that they tried to be Pantera. And album by album (skid row, slave to the grind and subhuman race) they got heavier and heavier. I almost could see them reaching Death Metal field hehehe

|The reason this Cd did not sell is because it is uniformly shite from pretty much beginning to end. It has nothing to do with selling out it is a matter of taste-to which Slik has little based upon the deranged warblings here. I am sure many are quaking at the thought of upsetting you.
||Date: May 15, 2004 at 18:36|
|Not a bad album although hardly their greatest. Some songs absolutely rock but some are kinda shitty. This is by far their heaviest album. Too bad this album didn't come out a few years later cuz it coulda been huge! This album deserves about a 7.5-8 rating (as it currently is).
||Date: May 24, 2004 at 5:41|
|Prefer slave to the grind than this album! This album is so 90's compare to the previous two album. I wish skid row would produce songs like 'forever','youth gone wild' or 'rattlesnake shake' again!
|From: Slik Vicc

|Totally cool heavier sound from the Skids this time around. Might take a few spins to grow, but its worth the effort!! However not really something I'd recommend to the Michael Bolton fans of the world....ya mean!!
||Date: May 24, 2004 at 10:45|
|If you like loud, de-tuned guitars and songs that have little melody then this is the album for you. A total sell out influenced by the Pantera's of this world (Halford's Two anyone) and pretty much alienated 95% of their fan base, hence the very poor sales. It took years for the band to recover from this. Good as the production is a class album needs songs...this lacks them.
||Date: June 15, 2004 at 9:23|
|A very poor effort by one of my favourite sleaze/glam metal bands of all time. Slave to the grind and their debut album is much better than these one. Unoriginal(pantera like sounding) and lack the feel that makes the such a great band in the late 80's and early 90's. Such a shame!

|This one will turn off a lot of fans, and I don't blame you, but if you give it a few listens it does show that it is a strong disc. The hooks are not as immediate, but after a while you will begin to realize the quality of some of these songs ("My Enemy", "Frozen", "Breakin' Down"). 7/10
||Date: July 20, 2004 at 1:30|
|I don't think hooks will be that noticeable here! LET'S face it,its the 90's,not the glorious 80's era where hooks were everywhere around any poison,motley crue,wasp,quiet riot,ratt,scorpion and yes,skid row album. You will never find a 90's album as 'hookier' as ratt's out of the cellar album.
||Date: September 10, 2004 at 3:09|
|Wow, that rating is really harsh! Although the band sound far inferior musically to earlier releases (What happened?!), this is still a good heavy metal album. 'Eileen' is brilliant, 'Into another' is cool hard rock and yes, I am being honest, 'Breakin' down' is sincerely one of my favourite songs ever. A gem of a track. I also really dig 'My enemy' and the rest is good metal. The band sound nowhere near as good or solid musically as they did 'Slave to the grind'-era, but it's a good album!
||Date: September 10, 2004 at 21:38|
|I actually agree with the rating. To me the only song I like is Firesign. The rest is just too edgy and not enough hooks or catchy tunes. It's boring heavy metal. 3/10

|Supposedly After this Disc Skid Row released another album called Razor Sharp. I really know nothing about the Album. supposedly it came out in 1996 and the songs on it look like stuff the Skids would write. If anyone has any info on this disc please let me know.

|*Sigh.* Just paid 7 euros for this in a local store, listened it through once, and if it wasn't for Bach's divine voice I couldn't possibly have guessed I'm listening to Skid Row. Nothing stuck to my ears; no melodies, no choruses, no hooks, no nothing. OK, many people here have told to give it a few tries before it grows on you, but sadly this just isn't the kind of music I like. The production is fine but doesn't save the day in my books. I want the Skid Row of the first two albums. Not this.
||Date: September 14, 2005 at 17:50|
|What's wrong with you people?? This is one of the best albums of the decade (not that it says much really). It deserves a couple of more spins, but then it really grows on you, and you'll be able to tell thatt this is a true Skid Row masterpiece. Not as good as Slave To The Grind, but equally as amazing as their debut! Melodic, aggressive and classic! 9.5/10

|i hate to critisise, but here i will. i listened to that album and it just couldnt grow on me.1995 is the year when hair metal was not very popular and that cd is far from being a hair metal album,that is why i dont like it. the only 2 songs that i like are "Into Another" and "Breakin' Down". but thats only my own opinion.

|Skid Row were my Favorite Band back in the day, but by 1995, I had about given up on hearing new music from them. Just seemed too long since Slave To The Grind. So imagine my delight when this disc came along. Actually, I don't remember thinkign it was all that great at the time, and not because of the heavier direction, which I liked. I just didn't feel the songs were that strong. But Subhuman Race is a definite grower. Skid Row didn't disgrace themselves at all. Nope, "Youth Gone Wild" and "18 And Life" are long gone, with virtually nothing remaining of the sound from the debut. It might not be heavier than Slave To The Grind musically, but it feels that way because there aren't as many immediately catchy hooks, and the mood seems a tad less angry in places, but also darker. Favorites would be "My Enemy," "Beat Yourself BLind," "Eileen," "Frozen," "Into Another," "Medicine Jar," and the vicious "Ironwill."

|The Skids couldn't escape the temptation of recording an album with the sound of that moment(grunge/alternative)and some fans were dissapointed obviously(they sound here like a more metallic version of Soundgarden)...the album itself is not bad or could be,better said, appealing for open minded listeners(if you are one) but if you are into early SR then you'll puke 4 sure..."My Enemy","Bonehead","Beat Yourself Blind","Subhuman Race","Breakin' Down"(nice semi soft)& "Iron Will"(with that funny hidden track in it) are my faves...70/100

|Very disappointing album 4 me! This is grunge era album and i don't like this! This is not a Skid Row that we know. Feels influence bands like Alice Chains and Pantera. Only one song is worth mentioning, this is Into Another. Only in that song recognize old Skid Row. 3.5/10
