Not nearly as good as their first album. The production is worse, the songs less memorable, and a few more of those "country songs," as Jesse likes to call his ballads. Tracks 5, 8 and 10 are those. The Fizz Picks: "Dumb Ass Country BOy," "Locked and Loaded" (with Brian Johnson), "Cut the Crap" (with the chainsaw), "Twice As Ugly," "Thanks for the Grammy" and "Push Pull."

This one basically sucks. They put out much better stuff than this.

From: Mike Date: November 4, 2002 at 16:58
Sure, this isn't their best effort to date, but the duet with Brian Johnson on "Locked And Loaded" and the chainsaw driven title track are definitely two great tunes!

Jesse takes the lyrical stupidity to new lows on this one. However, it does rock.

I dunno why people don't like this cd. This is my 2nd favorite cd of theirs. Dumb Ass Country Boy is a angry fast paced rocker Locked And Loaded is a nice mid tempo rocker I love the bands yelling the locked and loaded part. Cut The Crap is a trademark chainsaw song but has great melody and great song. Misery Loves Company has a high pitch screech misery loves compnay, somehow Jackyl makes it work. Twice As Ugly is a fasted passed leg stompin' rocker. This cd is good as anythin they released.

Surprised to see the bad response here, as to me this was on par with the other two - same style. I thought this was the worst of the three, but I put all three on a pretty similar level. The thing that annoyed me about this band was their 'avoidance' of ballads, ending up with one on the previous album (Country song my ass!) and three on this one. F*ck guys, who really cares if you put a ballad on your albums or not?! Pretty cool CD.

Of Jackyl's four full-length studio albums, this is easily the worst. There are some patented Jackyl moments, but also some weird, slow tunes like "Open Up" and "Misery Loves Company" that just sound out of place. And of course, three of those "country songs," none of them all that good. "Locked And Loaded" is the best song here, but the industry-slamming "Dumb Ass Country Boy" and 'Thanks For The Grammy," as well as "Twice As Ugly," the mandatory sex song "Push Pull" and the title track are all good as well. The production has a weird sound to it as well, with some strange, not-very-aggressive guitar tones and a clonky drum sound. I must admit, some of Jesse's best lines hail from this album, though.

everyone has valid points regarding this album it is stupid in some of the lyrical content but ammusing all the same and you can't help but tap your foot to it dumb ass country boy is funny and rockin' lcked and loaded is the pick here but other good ones are open up,thanks for the grammy, push pull, cut the crap twice as ugly and misery loves company one should never take jackyl serious

excellent release once again for JACKYL back in 97 ,a band that from the start did its thing in a unique way combining the AC DC thing ,with country and hair metal approach at the same time!many great songs as always like "push pull",'let s don t go there","dumb ass country boy","twice as ugly"!great band that JACKYL

Something has always just seemed off about this record to me. The production lacks bite, almost like it's coming from inside a box or something, or maybe somebyd draped a towel over the speakers. Jackyl has always represented wild, hell-raising, rednecky fun to me, but a lot of that has been replaced by a bitter, put-upon feel. I understand it: 1997 was a tough year to be Jackyl. Maybe it was the first rumblings of middle-age malaise, as Jesse was well into his 30's when this came out, and maybe looking around at a world he suddenly didn't recognize. He rails against complaint-rock and the bean-counting suits at labels and radio who were pushing it, but he unintentionally becomes what he most detests: a whiner. He's always been at his best when singing about his dick, so a lot of the material on Cut The Crap comes off as oddly downcast. And the lackluster songs that make up almost half the album don't help either. If I were making a Jackyl compilation for someone, "Locked And Loaded" a

... and MAYBE the title track are the only ones from Cut The Crap to make the cut. The last time I listened to the album in its entirety, I found it a hard slog to get through, which should never be the case with a Jackyl record.
