great blues based record

From: JoseM.(Spain) Date: June 28, 2002 at 2:31
this is the best Sambora solo album and sounds AOR and a little Bluesy .He has a excelent voice even better than Jon Bon Jovi, the guitar work is very good, and Eric Clapton plays on one song with Richie. If you like AOR, you must to have it!!.

From: zakar Date: August 26, 2002 at 11:36
what a bluesy! the songs are good. just follow to the "serving suggestion" (turn off the lamp and light a candle). you'll find THE ANSWER

From: David Date: September 9, 2002 at 19:56
This is a MASTERPIECE, this is better than anything Jon Bon Jovi has ever been involved with, every song is amazing. This album is one of the best AOR albums ever! Richie has a fine voice and recommend it to any GIANT fan out there. This is the complete album. Stunning song writing with a very strong voice that wasn't anywhere to be seen with Bon Jovi. 10/10 for sure! Just when I thought GIANT will never be rivalled I have found the highest quality music that's up there in the GIANT ranks.

From: Richard H Date: September 27, 2002 at 11:38
I'm not really into Bon Jovi's brand of midwestern rock but I must note that Richie Sambora is truly under employed........he's the stronger singer in the band and i figure the combination would do well for the Bon jovi camp.

From: robert Date: October 19, 2002 at 16:14

From: Shoemaker Date: January 5, 2003 at 12:06
I have to agree with all the people here. With this album Sambora kicked Bongiovies ass. This album is the best Bon Jovi album only Jon is not behind the mic, but nobody miss him.

From: Poison Arrow Date: January 9, 2003 at 14:30
haha!! too bloody right. Bon Jovi suxx, Sambora is way cool. and I wish Bob Rock had fucked off metallica and produced sambora instead.

From: manos Date: February 18, 2003 at 2:48
Richie Sambora has a fantastic voice but it is really pathetic to say that JBJ sucks, they have totally different voices and plus, who said that Sambora does not sing in Bon Jovi. One of the trademarks of the band is the double vocals of Jon and Richie and how wonderfully they fit together in harmonies. Stranger in this town, is a great album with all killer tracks and no fillers. ESSENTIAL!!!

From: Dani Date: May 7, 2003 at 12:42
This is a great record where Richie Sambora shows his talented voice and skills in composition.Really good.

From: Chris Date: May 30, 2003 at 1:59
Why this guy's not fronting his own band is a crime in itself. The guy's got such a cool voice. The bigger cime however is the crap that Bon Jovi have put out over the years. They have to be one of the worst examples of this genre that i love.

From: Izzy Date: June 1, 2003 at 20:11
I have the album cover without the Name and Title on the top of booklet. anyone with info?

From: Alejandro Date: June 12, 2003 at 13:33

From: fernando Date: August 22, 2003 at 4:08
i always knew that this guy has a lot of talent and a very good voice as well, so this album is not a surprise at all, but i throw a question why jbj releases such a patetic albums nowadays when everybody kows that he has everything that a rock genius could demand? bye

From: Rocker76 Date: November 4, 2003 at 19:31
Great bluesy rock album. Just as good as a lot of Bon Jovi's 90s stuff. "One Light Burning" is such a soulful and passionate ballad - greate lyrics and great musicianship. Richie really impressed me on this one. A must have for all Bon Jovi fans and anyone who likes great rock 'n roll.

From: drummerfish Date: February 22, 2004 at 7:26
TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IZZY:the cd w/o the title is the original pressing.it was added-i guess cause no one know who i was.there's also imports and promos of this with "wind cries mary" on them.i'm surprised that a bunch of rockers likes this.i love it as well,i connected with it.but its weird there's kind words for richie from everyone here.he is a true talent.lets get this re-released with bonus tracks.

From: Date: April 6, 2004 at 1:02
great guitarrist and singer, what an album...

From: gener8tr Date: June 8, 2004 at 16:12
"Father Time" is an awesome ballad and "Rosie" should have been on New Jersey. I have a bootleg demo of the New Jersey recording sessions and Jon's version is MUCH better!

From: Adam Blackheart Date: June 29, 2004 at 5:43
I love this album and my woman loves it too It's a classic, one of the best lp's ever... All - tracks - killer - no - filler . Great aor - blues feeling. Richie rocks !!! Say it AGAIN!!! RICHIE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Somewhere In The Night...One Light Burnin'...."

From: giorgos-greece Date: July 14, 2004 at 15:25
Absolute classic this one.Richie stuns his fans with his beautiful voice along with his ,already known, songwriting talent.Very mature album with "Ballad of youth" as a highlight. If you claim you have a classic cd collection, this shouldn't be missing. PS:..yes he's better singer that JBJ but that's another story...

From: Dusty Date: July 14, 2004 at 15:52
know what ya mean, he sang I'll be there for you last year instead of jbj, and he was very good! I'm still trying to find this album, but I can't seem te find it. i heared some stuff and it sounded very good. Gotta find it.

From: andrew Date: July 18, 2004 at 17:53
the solos here are increible, this guy plays guitar vbbetter that anyone, he plays better that Clapton, because he palys with the Clapton's feeling plus a lot better technique. This album rocks. Im a great fan og bon jovi's 80's and 90's era and this album stand with it.

From: Geoff Date: September 1, 2004 at 22:57
Had my favourite tracks from this blaring in my vehicle a couple of nights ago and man did they sound good! 'Church of desire' is great, 'Ballad of youth' is a killer commercial hard rocker, and 'Rosie' is a killer hard rock song. Overall, I like some of the atmospheric ballads too and it's a pretty damn good release. Love those three songs though!

From: Rycheage Date: September 13, 2004 at 22:13
This is some excellent blues-inspired rock, on the commercial side, which is OK. "Church Of Desire", "Stranger In This Town", "Ballad Of Youth" and "One Light Burning" are my faves. Highly recommended for those who love blues rock.

From: Giacomo Date: October 31, 2004 at 10:38
I can't believe how good this album is. If you like Aor, Melodic hard roch, ecc. you have to buy it. One light burning is an incrediblòe ballad. Every songs is awesome. I give it 9/10.

From: Roxas Date: January 18, 2005 at 1:08
Just re purchased this album after many years. This is one of the most beautiful rock albums of all time. Exceptional. I coudn't give 2 shits about Bon Jovi but this album alone is in my top 10 of all time right up there with Hysteria, Last of the Runaways and Hardline. Tremendous stuff.

From: lawless Date: February 26, 2005 at 19:05
Good album, great voice, favourite songs have to be ballad of youth, one light burning and church of desire, well worth getting this one.

From: Joan Date: March 20, 2005 at 15:20

From: Dave Stamos Date: May 2, 2005 at 4:58

From: robert Date: May 2, 2005 at 9:38

From: MLDROCKER Date: August 30, 2005 at 5:10
Astonished!!!Where the hell was this voice???Jon Bon Jovi gets a 9 but Richie's voice....9.1 and this is not "too much" believe me!!!Like others said, the album is clearly....Blues-coloured!!"Ballad of youth" the best of the best, the greatest lyrics ever!"One light burning" points out Richie's vocal abilities! You don't have to ask me if I recommend it or not!!!MOve your feet sisses!!!!!!!!

From: ehyder Date: April 4, 2007 at 10:37
An absolute must, not only for BON JOVI fans. Richie is a damn fine singer and has a lot of soul and feeling in his vocals. Musically it is bluesy and atmospheric at times, but definitely the songwriting shines all over. Quality!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 1, 2007 at 14:23
You are completely spot on ehyder!!!.This album rocks even more than any of Bon Jovi's releases,if you don't believe it then listen to songs such as "Church of Desire" or "Stranger In This Town" and you'll have your mind over it for a long time!!!.8/10

From: juan carlos Date: October 24, 2007 at 22:47

From: Axe-Machine Date: May 26, 2008 at 20:11
"Church of Desire" is one of my alltime favorite songs - you MUST own this record.

From: lalo r.o.c.k. Date: September 14, 2008 at 18:42
This album remembers me Andy Taylor´s Thunder, both guitars don´t have to do anything with their original bands, the styles are more personal and delivers AOR with some bluesy sounds in the highest level,Church of Desire,Stranger in this town,Ballad of youth,One light burning,Rosie,Father time, what i say,all are killer tracks, absolutly a must have,9/10.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 20, 2011 at 13:10
Yeah!!!..i listened to this really great release again and my opinion remains intact...highly recommended debut by Jon Bon Jovi's right hand man Mr Richie Sambora..."Church Of Desire","Ballad Of Youth","One Light Burning","Rosie","River Of Love" & "Father Time"...songs that will hook you up almost instantly...my new rate is 93/100
