| Sykes best album since Blue Murder 1993 "Nothin´ But Trouble". After forget the heavy stuff in "Out Of My Tree" (1995), Sykes return with a great hard rock record. All tracks really short (average is 3 minutes!), but all of them great! His voice is better than never, his best work at that point. Reamrkable "Cautionary Warning" with that Lynnot feel and the heavy one "Defcon One". | Unlike other artists who have left successful classic rock bands and gone solo, John has not tried to recreate the sound of his old band, has not retreated to doing the blues or written experimental albums that are nothing but rhythms in which to solo over. In fact, it's a shame that the US is so fickle and does not accept good hard rock anymore because '20th Century' is an album that deserves accolades, but only saw release in Japan as far as I know. http://www.nolifetilmetal.com/sykes.htm

| Recently I heard one of his songs from an anime called Legend of Black Heaven. It is really awsome. Basicly they took the one song "Cautionary Warning" and that became the whole point in the anime. First theres this guy named Gabe, Leader of Black Heaven that retired many years ago. Anyway there is this war in sapce and the people protecting the Earth has a secret weapon but can only operate by Hard Rock and the only person with enough soul is Gabe. He plays Cautionary Warning with his Flying V

| and just with his gutar he plays that song and it is so cool. Later on they found out the weapon hasn't been up to 100% and so Gabe tries something drastic. He tries to put back the band together but the thing is they had moved on. In the end he finaly gets them to play and just that one son is just totaly awsome. If you just listen to how Gabe from black heaven playes it would probaly set your soul free.

| I want to live in Cartoonland... I want to meet Fred Flintstone in person -- THAT, would set my soul free... Not a bad album, but Sykes sadly wandered off course after the Blue Murder debut...

| 'Look in his eyes' and '20th Century Heartache' are two strong opening tracks. I've always loved Sykes' guitar sound and do also here. '2 Counts' is also very strong, as is 'System ain't workin'. 'The way you kiss me' is good hard rock also, and those are my fave tracks. The rest is okay, not great. Basically, we have good solid guitar riffage and some strong songs and it's pretty much on par with the 2nd Blue Murder disc.

| good hard rock release by john sykes with the valuable help of mr mendoza!the sounf is pretty good,musicianship quite capable and the songs are ok.i d prefer them catchier and with a more commercial edge!highlights are "the way you kiss me","found what i needed" and "look in his eyes".only for john s fans
