| I've listened to this CD three times and I still can't remember the sounds! One song did stand out, "Mean Bone". Great guitar, vocals, rocks hard and fast.

| ok, the vocalist rod jackson is amazingly good...where can i hear more of his vocals?? Slash did a good job on this release..some killer tunes.. the best release of 2000...

| I really dug this album a ton. Kind of dug it though despite of the singer. Just came across as grating to me on a few songs. Saw these guys live last summer though and he was great live. The guitar work here is just awesome and proves why Slash is one of the best melodic hard rock guitar heroes. Give this another shot if you can because it might have fallen under the trap of "if it sold shit it must be shit" that a lot of overlooked musical gems have fallen under in the last 5 years.

| I can't believe this album didn't take off on the merits of Slash's awesome guitar work on G'n'R albums! This is a great raw, hard rock album for those of us who remember the glory days of real rock. None of this detuned, rap-hip-hop metal shit that is passing off as hard rock and metal today. Why is it MTV jumped all over Axl's new ego-feeder lame version of GnR, but nobody will give Slash the time of day? A killer album for any true hard rock fan.

| I agree with some of the comments here. I've listened to this album several times, and can still only remember one or two songs. The hooks are a bit sparing. I can also see how the voclist might get under one's skin, although I think he fits the material. Basically this is a bar band with some cool guitar work.

| This might actually be one of the best hard rock records of the last 5 years. Raw, masculine, bluesy hard rock with strong vocals and awesome guitar work (could not be otherwise). I really love this cd, it stands out as one of the best ones of my entire collection. Personal pick: "Serial Killer". Check out the solo there... brilliant!!

| Just picked this one up. I had some bad feelings about it, but ended up buying it, as there were no other exciting cd's to buy...........D A M N was I wrong, this is a superb cd. Highly recomendable. Goooooood stuff.

| Better than the debut, but that's really no compliment. If I shaved my balls the left overs would be better than the debut. Either way, this is a decent hard rock CD, but I just don't leave with any songs in my head. Just forgettable for me, and not really my cup of tea. Okay, but very average hard rock.

| besr thing slash has done since g/r.and rob jacksons voice is killer.he should have done another album with this guy.insted of putting out lame cds like velvet revolting crap.and don't bother with the first cd dire stuff.

| One of the best records on the planet. Full of ballsy rock and hooks. Love it from top to bottom. Bonustracks are damngood too: "rusted heroes" and "something about your love".(ballad) Who need that shit called Velvet revolver, you better buy this one.9,5/10

| IMO this is Slash's best work, he plays like a man possessed on every song. Unlike the first Snakepit album which was mostly filler, "Ain't Life Grand" is full of well written, catchy, bluesy hard rock . My personal favorites are Shine, Mean Bone and The Truth. I think Slash found the right singer in Rod Jackson and overall this feels like a band effort as oppose to a studio project. I'm surprised this album failed to take off, it seemed like it came out at a time when rock was making a slight comeback with bands like Buckcherry and Nickleback?

| I heard shine on youtube and decided to get this album for that song. I thought they'd all be as good as that dong but I was sorry to find out that EVERY song on here except shine is boring and doesn't stick in your mind. The worst song on here is Mean Bone. Awful. Again, only worth it for shine but that gets tired quickly.

| fantastic hard rock release by SLASH &co and maybe the best after GNR!excellent songwriting,fine musicianship and many hooks in the songs is what you get and Slash &Ryan do a great job with the guitars!all the songs are very good and strong and i suggest you buy it without second thoughts !

| Slahs is that those great artists who need other artists with good ideas (Izzy) by their side, are incapable of making great songs by themselves. Any of the Slahs projects lack great songs and this album is further proof. Very average hard rock record. 5/10

| I bought this when it came out, but see I haven't commented on it here. As I recall, this was actually recorded around '97 or '98, but sat on the shelf for two years for some reason—the man maybe holding out for a bigger record deal or something? It's a decent disc, but I think we were all expecting something better because it was Slash, dammit! Rod Jackson's voice gives music a cool, unusual flavor, but I heard he had a wicked coke problem, and that along with disappointing sales caused the lineup to splinter pretty quickly. But there's fun to be had here, including the singles "Been There Lately" and "Mean Bone" (minus the unnecessary rap intro). Other good songs are "Just Like Anything," by Truth," the jazzy, horn-infused title track, "Speed Parade" and "The Ali:." I listened to this a fair bit back then, but yes, it's gone largely unplayed since.
