This is a good record..Guess who's playing bass???That's right Sam Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks..

From: dokken6008 Date: April 3, 2002 at 11:07
I personally prefer Jetboy's 'Feel The Shake' to 'Damned Nation' only because there are better songs on here. While I certainly wouldn't call Jetboy's 'FTS' THE best of '88, it certainly isn't one of the worst. Highlights are: "Locked In A Cage", "Feel The Shake", "Talkin'" and Mickey Finn. Finn has a very good vocal range. 7.5/10

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: May 5, 2002 at 14:28
Their brash, energetic live shows and straight forward Rock N' Roll is ear candy to your ears! A band with tons of energy, tons of style and tons of passion. This band gives you 100% Kick Ass Rock N' Roll served on a silver platter!!!10 out of 10.

From: SleazyMusic Date: May 6, 2002 at 10:15
This is a not bad but not great band...(it's just my opionion)

From: Rich Date: May 26, 2002 at 22:33
Straight foward Blues based Rock n Roll, no gimicks. Sam Yaffa was in Hanoi Rocks also, kinda has the same feel. I saw them open up for Kix, Pretty good live show.

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: June 26, 2002 at 17:29
For good Jetboy songs, track down one of their cds of unreleased tracks, namely "A Day In The Glamourous Life". When a major label got hold of them, they were turned from a glam-punk band to a much safer hair band. "A Day...." completely shows why the band was a top draw in L.A.

From: dokken6008 Date: June 27, 2002 at 5:33
Well, they WERE with MCA and maybe that should explain things...

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: July 2, 2002 at 23:39
Yep....MCA=crappy "major" label. Sure to ruin your band.

From: dokken6008 Date: July 9, 2002 at 23:32
MCA, Atlantic, Sony....... They are all scumbags in my book. They hire just as quick as they fire, signing on bands for the next trend. It's all about the green. Blue Tears, RATT, Trixter, Jetboy, Faster Pussycat, Giant and SteelHeart are all fine examples of the "Bring us the sales or you're history"-motto. Actually, many of them WERE raking in the dough, but just not enough for the heartless, greedy big-label bastards.

From: Gar Date: August 10, 2002 at 2:46
Great glam album. All the songs are really catchy and memorable. They also had a great image.

From: TIM Date: September 5, 2002 at 12:27
Fun album! I thought I had commented on this one already. Have you heard this one David?

From: David Date: September 5, 2002 at 17:10
No TIM, i've only got their Damned Nation album. Also I hear that their 2 perris releases are very good.

From: Starling Date: October 1, 2002 at 16:45
I love this album and this band. What a great loss we have in rock & roll when bands like Jet Boy or Redd Kross or Jellyfish have to call it quits. Billy Rowe, You Rock!

From: Chris Date: October 11, 2002 at 10:52
I love this band. This is one of my all time favorite albums. Too bad they're not together anymore. JETBOY ROCKS!!!

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: November 14, 2002 at 0:11
Billy's in American Heartbreak now. Great stuff. They have two eps (one shared with Libertine) and a full length album out now. I'd totally recommend any of them.

From: jarett r. Date: November 18, 2002 at 10:40
jetboy bassist todd crew and guns'n'roses bassist duff mchagan were in the band the drunk fux, together.

From: RichieRocker Date: December 19, 2002 at 22:51
FEEL THE SHAKE!!! Rocks so much, so far thats the only song I have heard, and because of that song I want the album. Rock n roll.

From: Ribap Date: March 9, 2003 at 15:17
This album kick ass!, i think is better than the second one. In your face rock and roll.

From: RichieRocker Date: April 4, 2003 at 23:00
I made a comment on December 19,2002 saying I want this album. I was so pissed off I expected so much more from this band, I just got it today, Feel the Shake is my favorite, after that it kinda stunk, It doesnt sound glam too much to me. It sounds very poppy. Some decent guitar work but nothin else. I also procured the PerrisRecords release "Make Some More Noize" it decent at best, only for diehard fans.

From: RichieRocker Date: April 19, 2003 at 15:19
This Cd is starting to grow on me a little. At first I didnt really like it, I only liked a couple of songs, but it takes a couple listens to get used to it. Its definatly a Cd you need to listen to a few times.

From: Benn Date: June 27, 2003 at 1:05
Back in '87/'88, Jetboy were ALL OVER the pages of Metal Edge, Creem, and any other hard rock mag you could mention. They were signed by Elektra, who unfortunately dropped them for some reason, but not before promo copies of FTS were released. After they were dropped, MCA signed them, made them remix and re-record parts of the album. Unfortunately, they just got lost in the shuffle and they deserved WAY more than they got!!! Killer band, and Mickey Finn had one of the COOLEST looks in rock!!!!!!

From: cruise Date: September 14, 2003 at 16:17
Very catchy hook laden sleaze rock. The production lets it down as the band sound very bubblegum on some tracks. The vocals should have been much stronger and they should have made it big. Maybe not another G n'R's but they should have reached the heights of the other L.A. contemporaries. Management apparently led them away from the more aggresive material and this was the result. I still like it but they could have been brilliant. 7.5/10

From: Punkiz/obsesivo Date: September 24, 2003 at 8:35

From: John Date: September 29, 2003 at 12:37
Blues rock delivered with attitude. The songs are impeccable. From the opening crush of the title track, to 'Hard Climb's catchy chorus to the blues cruch of 'Snakebite' you'd be hard pressed to find a better release from that year. Alas, MCA was able to ruin another great hard rock band. What a bunch of douchebags. 10/10.

From: Patrick Date: September 29, 2003 at 17:13
John wrotes: "...you'd be hard pressed to find a better release from that year." Well, from '88 I've found some : Dan Reed Network "s/t", Toto "The Seventh One", Europe "Out Of This World", Romeo's Daughter "s/t", Dare "Out Of The Silence", Bon Jovi "New Jersey", Survivor "Too Hot To Sleep", Winger "s/t", Cinderella "Long Cold Winter" or Honeymoon Suite "Racing After Midnight" - just to name a few ! Well, John... to each their own

From: John Date: September 29, 2003 at 17:47
Aside from the solo in 'Superstitious', I've never understood why 'Out Of This World' gets rated so highly here. You're right on pretty much all the rest. But the question must be asked. What do you think of the Jetboy album Pat?

From: Great Dane Date: September 29, 2003 at 18:08
Blues Rock. OK......thats 1 track. Dont call it Blues Rock because they have one track which is blues rock. This is plain and simple Hard Rock, with a little hairspray and a lot of attitude. Highly recomendable.

From: Patrick Date: October 2, 2003 at 17:23
John, that's one of the last vynil LP that I've bought before switching to the cd format. At the times, as I loved some Hanoi Rocks records, I wanted to listen to Sam Yaffa new project. And loved it too, this is a solid mix of bluesy tunes and catchy hard rock

From: ALEXX GLAM Date: July 6, 2004 at 13:43
THIS CD IS KILLER MY FAV IS "HARD CLIMB" IF YOU FIND IT BUY IT!

From: Betsy Browning Date: February 5, 2005 at 18:23
EXCELLENT band with excellent songs! One of my Hollywood faves from way back in the mid 80's.

From: Geoff Date: February 10, 2005 at 3:59
I certainly missed something in listening to this album because I just don't get it. I still quite like the band and have kept this CD, but man what an ordinary bunch of songs IMO. I guess I was just so disappointed because when I got into hard rock in the first place this was one of the top albums I wanted and when I finally got it it did not even come close to delivering the goods, while hundreds of others were. Poor, average filler hard rock IMO.

From: Scandinavia Date: May 9, 2005 at 16:43
This one would just about go as the worst album ever...

From: Blue Charvel Date: May 10, 2005 at 5:01
Thank god, I'm not the only one who feels that way. I kept listening to it periodically waiting to "get it" bit I never had. It just never gets out of 1st or 2nd gear IMHO. Not enough hooks, and not even great talent, it just doesn't work for me, glad it does for some...

From: Nick C Date: May 10, 2005 at 17:22
Cooo! I never saw the big deal about this either. You think it's going to be all raucous and kick ass (especially with Sam Yaffa in) but it's very polite and almost pedestrian. It didn't stay in my collection too long but it was competing with Vain,Hanoi Rocks and NY Dolls, and compared to those bands its very subdued. Feel the Shake as a title is a bit misleading....unless it's a fluffy strawberry milkshake!

From: sluss528 Date: March 25, 2006 at 23:22
if you are going to compare this to vain you must be stoned! although i like vain these guys smoke them. the guitar playing and vocals are great and the production by tom allom is spot on. get off the crack pipe and go listen to it again and you will see what i mean! 8/10.

From: Fat Freddy Date: October 12, 2006 at 11:22
Just scored a used copy of this while on vacation last weekend... always liked the title track (one of the great hair metal anthems of all time) but the rest, ehhh... kinda disappointing. Maybe it'll grow on me with further spins?

From: tssmf4lyfe Date: November 11, 2006 at 6:15
easily a misunderstood band. very bluesy at times and this band is a favorite of mine. best tracks are feel the shake, hard climb, and hometown blues.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 27, 2007 at 20:32
Underrated band for sure and probably shadowed by the bands of "the moment"(80's).The album is ok (shamely was not my cup of tea).6/10

From: z4roxx Date: November 2, 2007 at 16:34
Very average and boring sleaze glam rock,7/10??

From: edwithmj Date: April 21, 2009 at 18:22
I got this CD and after listening to the first track "Feel the shake" I was instantly disappointed. It's just the same boring blues riff over and over again. Definitely the worst song on the album and a poor opener because the rest of the album is superb. Escellent blues based rock n roll. A lead and slide guitarist are present and work well together and with the vocals it really gives a bluesy feel. Just skip the title track and you can't go wrong with this one. Admittedly I was expecting a Faster Pussycat / Guns N'Roses straight ahead loud raspy vocals and raw sounding riffs and was disappointed when this disc wasn't that but Jetboy has its own distinct sound and is an excellent find.

From: hair metal again Date: July 24, 2009 at 1:40
this is not the kind of hard rock that is easy for the ears.jetboy had always been an "attitude" band with sleazy looks and straight hard sleaze sound.the songs are ok but not mindblowing "hard climb", "bloodstone" my favs.the bands sound is very full and satisfying with great guitars and vocs,i guess tom allom produced in a fine way just what the band needed.anyway its a take it or leave it situation if you can "feel the shake"

From: Seb Date: July 16, 2010 at 20:48
Masterpiece!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 30, 2011 at 23:07
Ummm..undusted this CD recently and after some "spins" i realize that "my cup of tea" actually is drinkable ...the band shows some Hanoi Rocks moments in certain passages of songs which is quite good...favourites o' mine are "Make Some Noise","Hometown Blues"( ),"Talkin'","Hard Climb"(catchy) & "Snakebite"...but one thing i said way back about the band in 2007 remains intact...an underrated band...shamely...89/100

From: StarChildBlade Date: June 27, 2011 at 19:16
This is an album that you can live without, unless you have to have every single glam metal release ever. Honestly, there is really nothing new here, but the songs are catchy and somewhat fun once you've played it a while. Their image is what set them apart back in the day. They had a mohawked lead singer, which was unheard of in glam. Overall, a decent album, but I think MCA ruined any chance of this band ever making it past 2 albums. Everything about Jetboy had been homogenized, whereas in their club days, they were quite impressive, by all accounts. A good album, but not necessarily essential. 6.5/10

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: March 23, 2014 at 14:55
To hear Billy Rowe tell it, Jetboy weere third only to GnR and Poison for popularity in the mid-'80's, at least in L.A. I guess that makes them, like Tuff and London, a prime example of a big fish in small (but crowded) pond. Off the Sunset Strip, they never reallly caught on. So what we've got here isn't even really your typical Cali-metal. It has a metal attitude, but the music has a twangy-guitar, shitkicker twist and a bit of a punk smirk to it. Alll songs are good, and the sound is removed from the smoooth polish of much of '88 hard rock. But, aside from the bass-thumping title track, there aren't any instant classics to really help the band stand out either. And so, Feel The Shake remains an underground favorite.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: May 14, 2021 at 13:30
Jetboy had some bad breaks, for sure. They lost their bass player (and from comments I've read in the past from the surviving members, it seems like they blame Slash); yet they were able to hand-pick his replacement from the wreckage of a band they all revered, so ...? This album was supposed to have been released right around the time of GNR's and Faster Pussycat's debuts, but due to various inside-baseball maneuverings at their label, was delayed for a year. I love the title track—love it! But I'm sorry to report that Jetboy fall into the same pile as Tuff and Wildside: legends in their own mind. They were all just so myopic, and seemed to think that just because they could fill clubs on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, that somehow they were destined for stadiums. Sure, there's value in being first in line—it helped elevate Poison well above their abilities to have their record come out in '86 instead of '89.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: May 14, 2021 at 13:33
I guess that must be what all these guys are referring to with their coulda-shoulda-woulda routine. It's a little tiring, honestly, like the former star high-school pitcher who can't accept that he just didn't have the stuff to make it beyond Double-A ball.
