| Honestly, this is one of Black Stone Cherry's weaker albums. I've always preferred the more rock 'n' roll side to this band, as heard on albums like Magic Mountain, Family Tree, and even the two EP's of blues covers. This is more leaden post-grunge. Much of the southern-rock aspect comes from the folksy earnestness of the lyrics which, like modern-day Tesla, quickly becomes tiresome. There isn't a ton of variety, from the lumbering tempos to the melodies to the repetitive AAB rhyme scheme of so many of the verses. Even though there are more F-bombs than we're used to hearing from BSC, they still sound like a band your youth pastor would approve of. Not so many songs about drinking and chasing women, and lots more about trying to figure out the world's problems and encouraging people to keep the faith (figuratively and literally). Thankfully, their thudding, tuneless take on Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" is not included (might be a bonus track on some deluxe edition you
