Temporary Message Board Closure
The company hosting the message board sprung a surprise price hike on me that
would have more than tripled the monthly hosting costs, so I've been scrambling
to find an alternative. I've purchased a license for self-hosting a different
platform and am hiring a consultant to migrate the existing board's content
(posts, user profiles, etc.).
However, this means I need to shut down the message board for anywhere
from 3 days to (hopefully less than) a week so the data can be migrated.
While this is an expensive proposition up front, it should result in some
long-term savings.
The current message board will be closed down at some point this
Saturday, August 23. I will post updates here. The main site (where you are
reading this), will NOT be affected.

| Iwas a little skeptical about this album when I first obtained it, I got it used, and once I played it, my doubts were gone!! Awesome album a little more mature than the 1st album but it still has that hard driving intensity that the "Toys" are famous for.

| Better than their first(and the first was great too)! "Best of Friends" is one hell of a ballad!

| Hey, these guys are good rockin'. I liked the album. A bit harder than the first album. This band has successfully created the style of its own. Jason's hardcore voice fits the songs very well. "Sticks and Stones" is just a concert motto song. If you liked the first album, this will rock you!..

| I love their first effort but this sounds like it was recorded in centerfield and filtered through a vat of jello. Did they drop the ball or was there even a ball to catch by this time? Lack of a decent tour after the first album probably sealed their fate long before this turd even came out. File next to Tora Tora's Wild America and Babylon AD's Nothing Sacred as follow-ups best forgotten.

| I had to have this because I liked the debut...the sound here is good but it lacks that standout (or two...or three...or four...well, you get the point) track(s)...this shows up on shuffle mode for me only...enough said...Rock On!! p.s. don't get the impression I don't like this, I do. I just don't love it...o.k., for real now, enough said.....HeHeHe

| Has a great opening track ("Gunfighter" is almost thrash metal!) but goes downhill from there. The awful production job doesn't help this album any either. When I saw them on the Operation Rock N Roll tour in 1991 (with Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, and Metal Church), I felt kinda bad for them 'cos they got booed off the stage by the crowd waiting for Motorhead, who followed them... and as soon as the DT's banner was replaced by Motorheads', this HUGE cheer went up. Poor guys!

| 'Gypsy (Black n'blue valentine)' is a great hard rocker and easily my fave off this CD. This is good solid hard rock, but the debut was much better. Still, good enough for what it is.

| The production quality on this release lets it down just a tad! However i do like this a little better than the debut! Only 1 really heavy track here(Gunfighter) while the rest take a more melodic approach than the first album! Sticks And Stones, Gypsy and Line Em Up are cool rockers, while the ballad Best Of Friends is pretty cool as well. The cover of Feel Like Makin Love is the pick on this album for me as well as the heavy opening song Gunfighter! Besides the production, a solid album!8.5/10

| GUNFIGHTER! What a track...pure heavy metal, Thin Lizzy on acid dude, music to crash your car to...however, the rest still rock, just not as hard. They take a similar approach to the last album, i like BAD GUY and G-G-G-G-G-G-GIMME NO LIP! An awesome album that i just missed out on for like $4.00...ahh shit whatever. My favourite album of thiers.

| This one's almost as much fun as the debut. The production isn't great, but isn't as bad as some on here make out. This one's even sassier and more swaggering than the first one, with that cowboy-shooting-up-the-town vibe to it. The Bad Company cover sucks, though. "Gunfighter" and "On Top" are prime D-Toys, though, as is all the rest. "Angel In U" is my favorite.

| like their debut it rocks, but this one can't stand next to it. their debut had more catchy songs and was a bit less heavy than this one.still this one is a great follow up and thats the most important. i love Jason's raunchy vocals. my favs: Gunfighter, Gimme' No Lip, Best Of Friends (great ballad-their best for sure), Sugar, Leather and The Nail, Angel N U and Line 'Em Up

| In my useless opinion, this album completely, totally, and utterly annihilates the massively-overrated self-titled debut like a wrecking ball through a sheet of rice paper. Sure, I'll readily concede that the debut sported better production, but this sophomore CD features far superior songs. This is a hellacious helping of loud, raucous, swaggering, from-the-gut hard rock. Vocalist Jason McMaster still sounds like he gargles every night with broken glass, but within the attitude-drenched confines of this musical style, it works like a charm.

| I don't really see how you can hate the debut and then be singing the praises of this one, because to me, there's not a whole lot of difference between the two releases, songwise.

Wowwww...really loved this album!!!...it kicks major a***s off!!!...dirty Hard Rock/Glam with attitude..."Gunfighter","Stick And Stones" & "Bad Guys" rock your socks off  ,"On Top","Sugar Leather And The Nail" & "Angel N U" are  ones,especially "Angel N U" that it sounds AC/DC influenced..."Feel Like Makin' Love" & "Line 'Em Up" a couple of goodies too...probably this is their finest album...get this one a.s.a.p.!!!.93/100

| For what it's worth, I've read where Jason Mcmaster has said Hellacious Acres is his least favorite Dangerous Toys album, due in part to the production of Roy Thomas Baker, saying that they had gotten some really cool tones and sounds in the studio, but which were completely lost in the mixing and mastering. With that in mind, you can tell the guitars don't have the same bite as on the debut, just a bit of a muddier sound overall. The songs are in the same rowdy, high-spirited vein, luckily.

| For some reason, I had "Line 'Em Up" running through my subconscious for what seemed like half the night while I was asleep, despite not having heard the song in a long time. Rapear movement? Did I eat something funny? I dunno. So I'm revisiting Hellacious Acres again this morning. I already commented on Jason McMaster's dissatisfaction with the final product, but I have to think Roy Thomas Baker was probably equally unimpressed with the band. Look, I love D-Toys, but you gotta figure they would represent a big step down for someone like RTB, even if he may have been something of a has-been by 1991. Queen, they were most definitely not, despite their assertions at the time that this was a more "mature" album. The only nod toward maturity is "Best Of Friends," a rueful ballad of the early stirrings of mortality—somebody your own age died!

| Nothing here is as brainless as "Sport'n A Woody," but there are still some pretty juvenile moments. "Gimme No Lip" was the first single, and a musical cousin to "Woody," but it's all about girls who talk too much. "Sticks And Stones" is undeniable fun, but its message of young rawkers standing up against censorship is pretty dated and passé. The aforementioned "Line 'Em Up" was the second single, an ill-advised attempt at funk-metal that only garnered light Headbanger's Ball airplay in the fall of '91. The album itself didn't fare that well in general either. And I've already mentioned the stinky cover. But "Angel N U" slams, with its nasty attitude and long, dueling-solo section. (P.S., the joke in my first post today should have read "rapid ear movement.")
