I have only listened to the single "Proud desparado" and honestly Winger has me "desperate", after the second album they changed course towards another type of public, they have an album that is sad. And this single is in that disgusting bluff line. I'll try to listen to the rest, although I don't know if I have a stomach.

I'm not sure what you guys are hearing. This song is all right. Kip's voice is strong as ever, and the melodies (particularly the chorus) sound like one of the proggier moments on the second album. Yeah, there's not a big '80's-metal riff (although the solo is typically shredding). But remember, on the first album especially, Kip was admittedly making music that he felt was beneath him. I don't know if I'll check the rest of the album out when it becomes available, but that's more to do with me than with them. The song's fine.

New Winger sounds really great! I guess I'm one of the "another type of public" who are into masterfully produced and played melodic hardrock of Pull and later albums.

I'm not trying to convince anyone, the best I've heard from Winger are his first two albums, and his solo "This conversation...." The rest is not for me

Winger are a band that leave a lot of people divided, and I am not talking about those that like them and those that don't, I am talking about those that can accept growth and those that can't. Now I like the first two albums after all they were the albums that got me into them, but for me Pull is still their masterwork. Now moving on to "modern" era Winger, ie IV onwards. IV was not the amazing comeback people wanted, so of course it sucked. Except it really didn't, people just could not accept that coming back years later they were different people, the music landscape was different & they just were never gonna record "hair metal" again. Karma was probably closer to Pull sonically, and for me is their second best album. Better days coming wasn't quite as good, but still great. Seven probably sits between Karma and Pull for its influences. I have heard people say its boring but I cannot agree with that. Certainly not as good as their best, but still some great songs on it.

Excellent stuff for sure. There are even some reminiscents from the first two releases if we keep "Headed For A Heartbeak" or "Under One Condition" in mind. In General it's something between Pull and Karma. Probably best album of 2023.

CC has it right here, which is a rare occurrence for him. This album though is what I would call "a grower" if you know what I mean. I don't think it immediately hits that sweet spot. It is an album you appreciate more with successive listens. Probably isn't an album really for the streaming crowd who listen once and then move on. If a band is lucky that is. Ah the streamers, ensuring music is as valuable as a stick of gum. Chewed up once and spat out. Well I give this a healthy B+ rating but would not be surprised if it doesn't head into A territory by the end of the year. Also "Proud Desperado" is a brilliant track to my ears!
