Don't like it as much as the first one, but still quality pop metal. Everyone's fave band to make fun of, but if you like the hair bands, these guys kick ass! Reb is one of the underrated guitar geniuses of the genre!

Winger exemplified exactly what was wrong with the eighties to the EXTREME. Having said that, I truly do believe that EACH & EVERY band member is talented, from the drums to the vocals but the band's formula just usually doesn't work together. The overdone synths can get quite ridiculous at times, and Kip's bad songwriting & arrogant attitude shine right through the music. Reb Beach is undoubtedly the most gifted member of the band; he is a true virtuoso and was one of THE best of the genre.

'Under One Condition' was about Pauls Ex-girlfriend, one of 'Motley Crue's' Nasty Habits Chicks, 'Emi'. Not liking this album as much as the first but still a good album. A more refined and cohesive 'Winger'!

The first 4 songs on the album are fantastic, but the album then turns to total crap with embarrassing stabs at neoclassical metal and even a bit of rap. Just turn it off after track 4.

I love Cant Get Enough, And I love Easy Come, Easy Go. Miles Away is good too. I agree with Dokken6008 when he says That REB BEACH is one of the top guitar players in the 80s genre.

Always good music from This band.ON Can't get enough AcDc meet Def Leppard. Easy come easy go is great too. Miles away is one of the most beautyful ballads ever written. But also songs like Rainbow in the rose and the title track have an interisting orchestration. Only great artist like Kip can write stuff like this.

Recently I've kinda rediscovered this cd and am just digging it. These guys are so musical and have so much more obvious chops & depth than they were ever given credit for. That being said I also don't feel too sorry for them because they were so upfront at the beginning on peddling Kip's pretty boy image. After the first 6 songs it sounds like they don't know whether to appeal to the 13 year olds or the 33 year olds. 'Miles Away' IS how a metal ballad should be done!!!

'Miles Away' is a good ballad and all but don't you mean that that 'is how a POP ballad should be done'?? I'm serious, Winger was so freakin' poppy and fruity it's not even funny. Bands like this have NOTHNG to do with metal--nothing. Bands such as Iron Maiden, Manowar, or Judas Priest on the other hand have EVERYTHING to do with metal--true fuckin' heavy metal, baby. I just kind of get irritated by the excessive use of the term 'metal' that it has lost almost all meaning....

What does a band that jumped out of nowhere to sell 2 million records do for a encore? ('In The Heart Of The Young'), as I said Befor showcases a refined and cohesive 'Winger', but still blends the new and old, with a few different twists and turns along the way. In all areas of the CD there's been changes and maturing and progressing into new bounderies than those pushed on the first. I'am sure that those who give first listen might not be able to get into the record,cause....

I said to one of the fool's working in the back 'So, you guys are playing WINGER? Out of all the 80s bands you could have chosen from.... Why not play something good like Dokken?'

In my opinion the name of this band should be Beach or Taylor in stead of Winger. It's like as if while forming the band Kip has threatened his band mates with a gun: 'I'll be the leader!'. But shit! this antipathic thwarp isn't enough to be a frontman. He should stop singing and stay in the back-bass player position. Finally they had to find a new singer who sounds similar to Jani Lane or CJ Snare. If they had applied this formula believe me they would have been far respectable than this.

I liked their first one a lot better. So much of this one sounds like they're trying either to relive the first album or get the hell away from it. There's an embarrassing rap break in 'Baptized by Fire,' and 'Miles Away' ain't one of my favorite ballads. The Fizz Picks: 'Can't Get Enuff,' 'Loosen Up,' 'Easy Come Easy Go,' 'The Day We'll Never Say,' and 'Little Dirty Blonde.' By the way, I thought 'Under One COndition' (to me the better of the ballads)' was about Kip and Rachel Hunter.

Actually I like this better than the debut. Sure this one's got a few lame tunes on it, but the good ones outnumber them. I wasn't a big WINGER fan(the majority of their debut is pretty run of the mill), so when I first heard this I wasn't expecting to like it. I was proven wrong. Not a perfect album, but good nonetheless.

Although I probably like their Awesome '88 release a little better, this one in it's own right Rocks too! Have been listening to it lately, and it brings me right back. My recent interest in this is due to a VHS documentary tape I got of the making and recording of this album and the videos for it, just had to pull it out again! Let's hear it for Kip and the buys! Avoided this one like the plague when it first came out. 8 years later there was this stripper dancing to 'Loosen Up' at a bachelor party and I bought the cd the next day. Just amazing how good naked chicks can make a song sound! 2nd half of the disc sort of fizzles out unfortunately.

This has to be one of the ultimate pop metal albums ever. If you like this kind of stuff you will love it. If you don't then you will hate everything about it. Personally, i love it. Cheesy sing along choruses, over produced to the point of perfection and four very talented musicians. I fully understand why some people hate this but i put this right up there with the best. Fantastic. 10/10

Great musicians stuck in a pop metal band. This one is slightly more mature than the first album. Still seems to have filler songs on it but at least they are listenable. 'Can't Get Enuff' kicks ass and 'Miles Away' is an incredible power-pop ballad. Worth the $3 it will cost you.

Yer right,AOR freaky!like Dokken,winger is very underrated and does not get the recognition they deserve while bands like bon jovi,poison and def leppard gets everything. Not to say they do not deserve what they get but winger,in my mind can no doubt rock as good as any hard rock/metal band.Kips's voice is marvellous and no songs in this album is average or below...all of them are just perfect.Well done,winger!

Terrible follow up to a decent debut. Even more over-produced than the last album. Includes some of my least favorite cliches of the genre (fake horns, singing over nothing but drums, fake sounding chorus vocals). 'Can't Get Enuff' is everything wrong with hair metal thrown into one song. The only track saving this is 'Miles Away'. 4/10

Agreed, this is my favorite Winger release too. Which says something because I think between their debut, this, and 'Pull' that's not a bad set of 3 albums at all. All are good, but this one had something special, great singles as stated. 'Rainbow', 'Miles' along with their hits like 'Easy Come' (OK, horns were a tad out of place, but got used to), 'Can't Get Enough'; not to mention the back of this album is VERY strong too. I stand by this as my favorite still. Classic '90 HR cut from the boys.

As good as the debut was, this was better. 'Can't Get Enuff', 'Easy Come Easy Go' and 'Loosen Up' get the CD off on a good note. 'Rainbow In The Rose' and 'Under One Condition' highlight the band's ability to pen a tune. 'Miles Away' is a real tear jerker for anyone who has loved and lost. And along with europe's wings of tomorow,these three album are some of the best melodic metal album ever in my book. I'll take winger over bands like extreme,bad english and cheap trick anyday.

How can you compare this in the same sentence as Dokken anyway, it's chalk and cheese. I disagree with you completely Rockhead as I'd take this (and almost every other album released!) over anything by Dokken, but then I'm not a hard-rock fan at all so I wouldn't even attempt to compare them. Compare this with Warrant, Poison, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi etc and you'll be nearer the mark...

Comparing dokken and winger is not chalk and cheese as both are straight ahead hair metal band who plays melodic hard rock music. Their music style are more similar than you think.both are extremely talented and great band that are so underrated. If you can't compare winger with dokken,then what can you compare them to?

Jack, it depends how you define the bands. The term 'hair metal' has nothing really to do with the actual music... Europe are hardly metal? I compare Winger with early Warrant, early Danger Danger, Def Leppard etc. Some of this album is really AOR, take 'Rainbow in the Rose' or the title-track... For me, Slaughter are much more hard-rock and then Ratt and Dokken etc are heavier still. And certainly less melodic. But then I am a little biased as I can't stand Slaughter, Ratt or Dokken!

Dokken are NOT a 'straight ahead hair metal band' !-That is complete nonsense.Anyone who knows anything about 'Dokken',will know that they were inspired heavilly by many of the european bands :Saxon, Scorpions,etc and having listened to their music for years,there is that obvious mystique in their material.While they might have used a tad of aqua-net back in the day,to call them a hair band' is beyond ignorant.Bands like 'Winger' are not my cup of tea.'Dokken' will reside as a Great Band .

All i can say is that i like winger and dokken a lot whether they are are hair metal or not. But i think dokken's music is much straight forward hair metal compared to great white or tesla. the image is also! But anyway,i think both are really great and talented band.

I probably prefer this one to the debut, though only marginally. I think the first two are on par with each other only to be later blown away by the amazing 'Pull'. As for this one, like everyone else I love 'Miles away'. Also 'Easy come', 'Rainbow' and 'Under one condition' (especially the verses). Actually, now that I look at it I probably prefer the debut for consistency. Still, two well-played and great commercial hard rock releases.

Drag N Bones, for as long as I know, Under One Condition was dedicated to Kip's ex-girlfriend Rachel Hunter, a professional model who later became Rod Stewart's wife. Most of all, this is a great album. For those who hate AOR music, hate keyboards, hate synth, and always ridiculously think that a goodlooking/pretty face has something to do with music, well.. you'd better not listen to this album and not make any comments. Just find the other site of your own dream bands.

i used to have this cd, i bought it 4 yrs. ago and i sold it for their S/t cd from 1988. i remember listening to Winger-In The Heart of The Young and this cd was pretty good! i don't remember some of the songs except for the good rockin ones. i prefer thier 1st cd over their 2nd. i don't mind a few songs off their Pull cd either. The 1st 2 Winger cds are good!

Very exacting album with great musicians of course. There are typical AOR songs e.g. 'Easy Come Easy Go' (my all time favorite!), 'Can't Get Enough' and progressive tracks e.g. 'Rainbow in the Rose', 'In the Heart of the Young'... and a few fillers. So my rating goes 8/10

My favorite of all of their releases to date. Fave song is Easy Come, Easy Go. No fillers here, is it cheese metal YES !! But it is good cheese metal. The 80's and 90's were full of cheese metal and it made MTV a blockbuster (and some of the bands very rich as well). This is the one to have of Wingers if you are going to have one. 87/100

It's sad that this top class act got shoved in the dirt when everyone decided to make fun of the hair bands. I could think of 1000 bands that are more immature and cheesy than these guys, Warrant, Poison etc.. Kip Winger is musical genius and every Winger CD is awesome, this and "IV" being their magnum opuses! Also, Kip's solo stuff outdoes this, but that's a different story

Really good follow up to an awesome debut! Like the above said, Miles Away is in my top 8 power ballads. Under One Condition is really a good ballad as well. The rockers are great- Easy Come Easy Go, Can't Get Enough, Loosen Up, You Are The Saint, & Baptized By Fire. I recommend.

I absolutely loved the debut as a kid, and bought this the week it came out in the summer of 1990. And even though it has some good songs, I didn't feel it lived up to the first album, then or now. At this point, Kip Winger was already regretting some of the cheesy things they'd done, like his shirtless prancing and (even then) vaguely creepy odes to statutory rape. He desperately wanted to be taken seriously, and so, went a little overboard, always yammering on in interviews about classical music, coming off like a pretentious dick. Meanwhile, his band's sopomore effort wasn't all that different from the debut. The first four tracks could've been leftovers from the self-titled, and the main difference thereafter is the way Reb Beach's guitar-playing gets a little too "busy" and noodly for the songs, the band trying to get all proggy on "Rainbow In The Rose and the title track. Mainly though, the songs just aren't as memorable.

At the same time, you probably haven't heard these songs a billion times like you have "Madalaine" and "Seventeen" and "Headed For A Heartbreak," so an occasional listen is pretty enjoyable. Overall, though, I gave it a 68.

Definitely not as good as the first disc but a few stand outs still exist. The first four tracks especially Can't Get Enuff and Miles Away are superb with Under One Condition being the other great ballad and In The Day We'll Never See having great rhythm and vocals. Baptized by fire is another good melodic rocker and Rainbow in the Rose has some superb virtuosity from Reb Beach but I feel the disc ends weakly with In The Heart of The Young. A great stand alone disc but lacks the number of meaty hooks and catchy vocals of the first one.

It was the first Winger's album I've heard - good point to start as I like it years later. All songs are good, no fillers.

Turns out "Can't Get Enuff" and "Easy Come, Easy Go," the two songs that are most reminiscent of the debut, were written at the last minute, both in a single day, because Beau Hill or somebody "didn't hear a single." (This is the identical scenario that gave us "Cherry Pie.") On a personal note, by 1990, I was beginning to sneak looks at my sister's Seventeen magazines, because unlike Boys' Life, there would be articles about music and sex, two topics about which I was insatiably curious. Even at that age, I was able to see that Kip was doing in "Can't Get Enuff" EXACTLY what teenage girls were being warned about. I guess if I were ten years old today, I'd be called a "simp," but fuck it.

Miles Away is one of the few ballads I once listened to for few hours without taking any break. Of course the whole cd is just great.
