I'll try not to be to bias when reviewing Jump's catalogue as they are god mates of mine. What I will say hand on heart though that they are a great band!! OK What do they sound like - Classic Rock with influences from Bad Co.,Led Zeppelin with a hint of Melodic Prog ala Fish era Marillion (especially in John's vocals) - That should give a very rough idea of how they sound. This is their debut album & is still one of my favourite releases. Recorded live in the studio (although you wouldn't know it),this just about covers all the bases of the earlier Jump sound, from the simple & melodic 'The Lightbox' & 'The Mystic',to the atmospheric 'Don't Let Them Tell You (that you're old)' & 'Soft Shoe Tread', the beautiful ballad 'A New World', the acoustic 'Freedom Train' & the more uptempo 'You Will Be Queen' & 'The Winds Of Change'. Great songs one and all!!!. |
