Just excellent. Imagine Wig Wam without the sense of humour and you have The Poodles. Every lyrical cliche is thrown the way of the listener, but if you're like me, you'll lap it all up. I hate the title track and don't like 'Song for you' at all, but between those and the rest is all smooth sailing. 'Echoes from the past' and 'Night of passion' are melodic hard rock bliss, and most the rest is almost as good. 'Crying' is a sensational ballad to end the disc too. Essential, on of 2006's best.

From: 80's Hard Rock Date: May 28, 2006 at 7:41
I think almost like Geoff, here we have waited for 80's rock, and in the year 2006 80's rock has been born again with releases like this and House of Lords - World Upside Down, Fate -V, Wig Wam - Wig Wamania, Silent Hero - All That I Have. These are just my personal favs. there are much more bands like this I believe, but this cd is a 80's rock fans absolut must buy! It's that good!!!

From: ROBERT Date: May 28, 2006 at 11:56
Recomendado.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 28, 2006 at 22:27

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 29, 2006 at 4:24

From: 80s hero Date: June 4, 2006 at 16:52

From: 80s hero Date: June 4, 2006 at 16:54

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: June 4, 2006 at 18:14

From: sluss528 Date: June 8, 2006 at 1:05
ok, just got done listening to this for the second time and if you ask me this sounds like gotthard not wig wam at all! the singer is spot on for the singer in gotthard. now is that a bad thing, not at all! this is heavier than wig wam. this is not scandi sounding at all. this is strait in your face hard rock with melodic tones. the guitar playing here is much better than wig wam because of pontus norgren! if you like the last two gotthard cd's than you will like this as well. 9/10

Comparisons are bound to be made with Wig Wam & with good reason. I also see the Gotthard reference, but will also add that this sounds pretty damn 'Scandie' to me aswell. Between the two, Wig Wam win the battle of the bands, but this does feature 'One Night Of Passion' which is an absolute belter of a track with a monster chorus and better than anything on 'Wig Wamania'(and that is not to take anything away from that disc). The Ultravox cover doesn't do it for me, the rest most definately does.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: June 10, 2006 at 22:51
"Song for You" is the only slight stain on this near-perfect melodic hard rock album. This is Scandi-flavored hair-metal with hooks bigger than a bulldog's balls, super-catchy choruses, and the kind of huge backing vox rarely hear nowadays. These guys sound like they have studied at the amps of Wig Wam, and while Wig Wam is superior, it wouldn't take much for the students to surpass their masters. Yep, metal will stand tall, and this CD will stand tall right next to the other Best CDs of 2006.

From: pottolo Date: June 28, 2006 at 17:08

From: GlenRavine Date: June 29, 2006 at 15:16
I liked this - this was great - good DISC. Def. have a 80's feel, big time songs with big time chorus'. Production was good and can be better and will get better but for now - crank it up.

From: stryper Date: July 12, 2006 at 9:07
NOT OVER SURE ABOUT THE GOTTHARD SOUND ALIKE VOCALS.I DO HEAR ANDI DERRIS OF PC69...BUT WHAT EVER YOU HEAR.THIS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS TO COME OUT IN A LONG TIME FULL STOP!!!IF ANY ONE ALBUM COULD PUT ROCK BACK ON THE MAP.ITS THIS BABY.OUT STANDING ALBUM 10/10 ALL THE WAY

From: aorteto Date: August 1, 2006 at 15:35

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: August 4, 2006 at 15:21

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: August 4, 2006 at 15:24

From: swriter Date: August 8, 2006 at 1:04
now in my best of the year, I got on the WigWam references, I feel a bit heavier or something then Wig Wam, the entire cd is great, and of course, One Night of Passion is killer, also love Lie to Me, the entire disk is pretty strong, have to say I enjoy Wigwania a tad better, but still in the best of the year!!!!

From: Lennie Date: August 17, 2006 at 8:57
Yep I love this one too - bound to feature somewhere in the best of 06. 'Night of Passion' has been mentioned, but what about 'Shadows', and tracks 9,10 & 11 - all as good in my opinion, and all these feature good guitar solos which just add to the excellence - Pontus Norgren adds a touch of class which might elevate this above Wigwam with repeated listens who knows??

From: Figge Date: September 27, 2006 at 14:29
I love it! Awesome album....at least half of it. If the whole album had the quality of the 6-7 best songs it would be one of my absolute favourite albums last couple of years. There are however a few letdowns on the disc. Still, it will be featured in my top ten (probably even top five) list at the end of the year. Echoes, Night Of Passion, Shadows, Lie To Me, Don't Give Up On Love, Kingdom Of Heaven and the superballad Crying are all EXCELLENT melodic hard rock.

From: 80s hero Date: October 10, 2006 at 14:02

Wonderful album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: z4roxx Date: November 7, 2006 at 12:51
For Wig Wam band thats another good band from Scandinavia.Poor rhythmic arrangments with a great melodick result.4/5 songs here are killers and the rest is very good, too.

From: z4roxx Date: November 21, 2006 at 13:14
I must add that this is a great cd.Songs likeMetal will stand tallandDon t give up on loveare awesome.I find similarities with Wig Wam and also with Bai Bang ofriding high.Highly recommended!!!!

From: andym2691 Date: December 27, 2006 at 17:01
Just heard this. MHO on each track is (worst first): 4/7:What were they doing? (Wife walked in and asked why Westlife were trying to do rock!). Track 12:run of the mill rock ballad. Tracks 2/5/6 are getting 'there' very quickly (early Priest?). For purists of melodic 'heavy' rock 1,3,8,9,10,11 will be heaven. I'd buy again, but its a pain reaching for the remote to cut out 4/7/12 - wished they'd put them together at the end!!

From: andym2691 Date: December 27, 2006 at 18:07
PS forgot to mention that even though it is an excellent melodic rock version, track 8, Dancing with tears in my eyes, was done by Ultravox in 80's and, so I have been told, by Ray Conniff(?) back in the 60's.

From: Chad Date: December 31, 2006 at 1:18
While this is not Wig Wam (as it is often compared to) it is a good solid disk. There are some excellent tracks on this one. Rock Star, Song For You and Night of Passion are great. The rest stands up too. One of the finer moments in 2006 for sure. Wig Wam has them beat by a ton though.

From: the brat Date: January 1, 2007 at 14:25
Wig Wam is good, but doesn't compare to Poodles. The only weak song on this record, in my opinion, is Song For You, but it was their third single and has sold gold in Sweden by now...

From: ROBERT Date: January 10, 2007 at 21:48
Vaya 2 Temazos ten Brutales, para mi d lo mejor del ao: NIGHT OF PASION y Don't Give Up On Love!!! Me encantan!!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: September 1, 2007 at 10:29
If you like this one "Sweet Trade" is better, con "Sweet Trade" este ao la banda si que cumplio mis espectativas un trabajo parejo de pie a cabeza sin ningun relleno ni cosas asi solo de buenos cortes para arriba donde "Streets of Fire" es mi corte estrella asi que a los muchachos que les parecio genial este trabajo que no fue mi caso lo nuevo de ellos ya es otra cosa de los mejores en este ao otro de los contendientes que pelearan por el trono de este muy buen ao hasta ahora.

From: sluss528 Date: October 7, 2007 at 17:13

Another disc that came out of nowhere. Fantastic opening and kept it going for most of the disc. Great singer, established guitar and a very good walk down the 80's sound without being dated. Excellent balance. 90/100

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 15, 2009 at 20:06
Metal will stand tall!!!The Poodles will stand tall!!!...great album indeed even though the word "metal" is not really in use here (this is more into Glam/Hard Rock stuff)."Echoes From The Past"(great opener),"Don't Give Up On Love"(excellent)and "Metal Will Stand Tall" are worth listening many times and the rest of the songs have this "thing" that makes it very appealiable 2 the ears.90/100

From: WookieEnthal Date: July 11, 2009 at 21:02
This is what I'm talkin' about! If you want straight up 80's sounding music, this is your answer. Forget Crapdiet...these guys own them hands down. This is at the top of my want list.
