Great album for Vito to show off. Showes why he was considered the next Guitar Hero

From: WADELINK Date: October 23, 2001 at 19:21
VERY HARD TO FIND BUT FROM WHAT SONGS I HEARD IT'S REALLY RAW AND HEAVY EVEN FOR THEM IT'S A MUST 10/10

From: Rycheage Date: November 11, 2001 at 17:34
This CD is a very mature effort considering theis ages. Vito was a 10/10 on this effort. It is extremely hard to find except if you want to pay a high price for it. It is worth every penny.

From: Walter Koelau Date: January 9, 2002 at 21:28
Just don't know what to say, This guys are the best! Pity breaking up.

From: Rich Date: May 26, 2002 at 21:39
The original version on Grand Slam Records is the one to find. I don't like the updated version of 'Broken Heart'. I think the original is MUCH better.

From: Desslar Date: May 28, 2002 at 16:12
Cool album - maybe their best. White Lion's heavy songs usually suck, but here they are well done, and lyrically deeper than normal. The closing track is great.

From: Shoemaker Date: May 29, 2002 at 4:06
Yes, I agree with Desslar. El Salvador is the best song White Lion ever made.

From: David Date: August 16, 2002 at 22:13
Vito Bratta is one of the better guitarist of this era, maybe not in the Harry Cody or Nuno Bettencourt league but still very good.

From: iaffprofireman Date: December 10, 2002 at 17:34
This is one of the best melodic hard rock albums out there. Theres not a bad song on it. Excellent!

From: Yu Date: January 29, 2003 at 10:39

From: Great Dane Date: October 2, 2003 at 4:09
Just got a bunch of bootlegs by this band. Damn they sound good live. I never saw them back then, but the shows I just got, are great. This is the only disc I dont have by them. Should I pay 45,- USD on GEMM for it.???

From: Kristian Date: October 2, 2003 at 5:22
Great Dane, You can get the Japanese import version of it for $31 at www.songsearch.net, they work REALLY slow though. Anyway, it's worth a lot more than $45, IMO. BTW would you sell me cd-r's of the bootlegs you have? avforhelvede@hotmail.com

From: Great Dane Date: October 2, 2003 at 9:36
Hi Christian. I dont sell. Only from my tradelist. But sure we can work something out. Write me kvn62@mail.dk Just got some killer White Lion bootlegs as well.

From: Kim hp Date: October 2, 2003 at 13:37
A very overrated band... But this is by far their best, and heaviest release anyway. Kristian, I've got hundreds of metal cd-r bootlegs for sale...interested?? mail me for my list def_leppard18@yahoo.com.

From: Stich Date: November 26, 2003 at 6:59
I like White Lion in general, but I didn't like this album at all, and I don't see why everyone else did..... The songs just really aren't that good in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and get 'Mane Attraction' instead.

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 5, 2004 at 12:17
Wow, I didn't even know this album was ever available on CD... I'm still getting by with my old cassette copy. Anyway, this was more 'metal' than the rest of White Lion's catalog, I especially dig 'All The Fallen Men' and 'El Salvador.' Useless bit of trivia here, this album was actually recorded for the Elektra label but they decided not to release it and Grand Slamm picked it up. Bet Elektra regretted that decision when PRIDE suddenly sold a few million records two years later.

From: TYNO/BRAZIL Date: March 15, 2004 at 16:38
IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS CD YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE MISSING . GREAT STUFF. THE SONG BROKEN HEART IS EXCELLENT AND HAS A DIFFERENT VARIATION FROM THE VERSION ON 'MANE ATTRACTION . YOU WILL LOVE IT.SAVE YOUR MONEY TO BUY IT BECAUSE IT'S WORTH.

From: Blue Charvel Date: March 15, 2004 at 17:08
Hey Tyno, first Warrior Soul, and then this? You've got great taste! I think this version of Broken Heart is 10x better than the later one, much less wimpalicious. Cherokee, El Salvador and of course All The Fallen Men rock as well. Still my favorite White Lion disc just for it's rough edges alone!

From: Blue Tequila Date: March 15, 2004 at 23:30
So is the song 'Broken Heart' on here the same as on Mane Attraction with a different sound or is it a completely different song? The one on Mane Attraction is my fav track on the album but if this is better then I need to find it!

Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
From: Blue Charvel Date: March 16, 2004 at 9:42
Hey Blue, This is the original version of the song on Mane Attraction. It's a little rougher with less keys, etc. I probably like it because it's the first one I heard, but I still like it nonetheless!

From: Blue Tequila Date: March 16, 2004 at 11:14
I was able to track the original version of Broken Heart down last night. Not as polished as the version on Mane Attraction obviously but it's a great song either way IMO. Very odd that an album like this from a band that was a big seller like White Lion would be unavailable.

This was on the ultra-mega-giganto (NOT!) Grand Slamm label before they got signed to Atlantic, so it didn't get a whole lot of play. Plus the whole album is quite a bit less polished than everything that came later. Not quite as 'chick friendly' ...oops, guess I'm politically incorrect again! Personally it's my favorite WL release, but that may be due to the fact that it brings back a lot of memories of back in the day when I used to hear this on WSOU...good times.... (sigh...)

From: AOR freaky Date: March 23, 2004 at 10:05
Their first and their best. Great hardrock CD !, with good structured songs !

From: TIM Date: March 23, 2004 at 10:09
Sorry, I thought this was a boring piece of shit.

From: Purevil Date: June 4, 2004 at 13:39
what can i say? the perfect debut. every song in here is really a true MASTERPIECE. And, maybe, the best album from White Lion.

From: AJ Date: July 21, 2004 at 12:58
Here is a question...on the American version of the cd it says James Lomenzo is playing bass. On the Jap cd version (which is the one I have)it says Dave 'the beast' Spitz plays bass. Can anyone clarify this up for me?

From: wind shadow Date: August 17, 2004 at 13:59
whatever be the price, theproduction, the music, the song, the talent, white lion is a band the universe will never forget

From: Big Mike Date: February 22, 2005 at 2:00
Just forked out big bucks to get a copy of this from schmankyl records. Only available on jap import as far as I can see. Its a solid album but probably not quite worth the price you'll have to pay.

From: ghettonation73 Date: March 29, 2006 at 22:36
I FOUND THIS ON TAPE AND HAD A FRIEND TURN IT INTO A CD. THIS IS EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND, GREAT ALBUM FROM START TO FINISH. IT'S A LOT HEAVIER THAN 'PRIDE,' 'BIG GAME,' AND 'MAIN ATTRACTION.' TO ANYONE WHO DOES FIND IT, GET IT!!!

From: metalhead4life Date: August 22, 2006 at 19:31
Great album with great songs!! Their second best album in my opinion (behind Pride). Production is ok but not as good as the follow up Atlantic records releases. Definitely worth buying.

From: Figge Date: October 24, 2006 at 13:16
Wow! I bought this vinyl in 1986 on import....very expensive, but worth every penny. I just loved this album and still do, perhaps of nostalgic reasons. A lot rougher and heavier than their other releases and without doubt the best White Lion album to date, in my opinion. The original version of 'Broken Heart' and 'El Salvador' are fantastic songs.

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 11:43
This is a must have with Pride, buy it now.

From: Grinch Date: November 4, 2008 at 4:42
This is my favourite WL album.Very raw with great guitars a little rougher vocals from mike. All in all a must have for all the fans of 80 pop metal

From: lalo r.o.c.k. Date: July 10, 2009 at 22:23
Great, awesome album, all the tracks are right in your face melodic hard rock,Broken heart,Cherokee,All the fallen men,El salvador are clear examples of true inspiration made it with passion, incredible solos by the guitar god Vito Bratta, more please...9.5/10.

From: Bax Date: January 8, 2010 at 3:59
Hey AJ & "to whom it may concern", Bass was done by a guy named Felix Robinson (ex-Angel) and Drums were tracked by someone by the name of Nicky Capozzi... Couldn't find out, if they were in the band somewhere between '83-'85 or if they did just the recording as session... btw. my fav release by WL!!! go get the original "Broken Heart"!!! Rock on, Bax

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 25, 2011 at 18:21
Classic debut...White Lion at that time was like a sort of a Hard Rock band with some touches of Glam & AOR with "pop" feel...apart from having a frontman as a " teenage sex symbol" Mr Mike Tramp..."Broken Heart" is a catchy starter along with the AORsih one "Cherokke","Fight To Survive" is ok,could have been a stronger song ,"Where Do we Run" continues with the catchy songs,"El Salvador" is nowadays an anthem of the band & "The Road To Valhalla" closes the album in an excellent sutile way...a good effort that should be listened...89/100

From: petermexico Date: June 4, 2012 at 20:45
This is White Lion´s finest hour!, great songs from start to finish, this contains the best version of "Broken Heart",and excellent songs like "Fight to Survive", "All the Fallen Men", "El Salvador", Vitto´s guitar work, and Mike Tramps vocals set its trademark. Para mí su mejor trabajo, y el cual les valió después firmar con Atlantic para su exitoso "Pride" de 1987, un álbum del mejor Rock maericano de finales de los 80.

From: Sly009 Date: June 23, 2012 at 2:08
Huge fan , my #1 Band, this is a good album. great guitar playing, some will not like production but it's A1 for 1985 and my favorite is 'Cherokee'. I had this one after Pride. For hair band fan this is a must have.

From: ghettonation73 Date: November 14, 2018 at 0:03
I found a used cassette at a bookstore and had a friend make it into a CD!

From: hair metal again Date: May 22, 2020 at 15:50
explosive debut for the mighty WHITE LION that showed from the start that they would rule the scene!amazing guitar work ,warm vocals from Mike and fine songwriting !all the songs are pretty good and especially "broken heart","where do we run",'all the young men"!what a band

From: endtimes Date: July 12, 2024 at 15:18
An executive at Elektra, that signed White Lion in '83, suddenly said: We'll drop them, it'll be enuff with one band of three dark-haired with a blonde singer (meaning the newly platinum-selling Mötley of course). However the production was solid, paid for by Elektra, who dropped them after the recording with great rhythm section Felix Robinson – bass (& keyboards) and Nicky Capozzi – drums, both who were also helping write songs was completed. Vito has said he wanted to re-record his guitar parts in the end of the recording sessions, but budget did not allow him.

From: endtimes Date: July 12, 2024 at 15:28
Still a very fine debut, and fortunately the band was re-signed to the WEA group (this time Atlantic), who must have been happy since smash PRIDE was selling about 2,5m copies. Remaster editions of CDs/albums mostly sound very bad, due to deaf personnel of small amateur labels, but this one reissued in 2010+2015 by label Dead Line Music (and approved by Tramp himself I recall) sound pretty damn good! Lomenzo and D'Angelo did not play on this recording, as they were not in the band back in Feb 1984. The Japan CD on label Victor (VDP-1071) is a nice collector's item to keep
