Probably one of the best three releases this year. This is HIGH OCTANE Hard Rock / Power Metal. There isnt a weak track and the usual mix between metal and melodic hard rock which is a trademark of Pretty Maids is is clearer than ever. Goddam, this is a great cd. There is only one thing that makes me wonder a bit, Why did they place the best track on the cd as track 11. This os the 80's relived, with an up to date sound. SUPERB.(kanon)

From: Helix Date: November 13, 2006 at 10:11
Have to agree with the above comment, but lets don't forget they did a great version of deep purple perfect stranger. gave this cd a nine.

.......And one of the best things about this release is that Atkins show no signs of that his voice is worn, after more than 20 years of singing. He still has that superb Jeckyll/Hyde vibe, and delivers 100%. The production is TOP NOTCH and the riffs are out of this world.

Having never been the biggest fan of their 'heavy track then melodic track' approach, I was stunned to absolutely love this. It takes a few spins,& I still don't like that Deep Purple cover (their own songs are better,IMHO),but otherwise this is brilliant MHR. Heavy guitar riffs, powerfully produced,& enough keys to keep me interested! "Such a Rush" & "Another Shot..." are simply two of their best ever tracks, melodic heaven. This really took me by surprise,& is a big 2006 highlight. 9/10.

I just f*cking love these guys, and this album is more proof of why I do. From the opening monster riff of 'Wake up...' this disc is just great. 'As guilty as you', 'Such a rush' and the highlight 'Another shot of your love' are the obligatory melodic gems, and my favourite tracks. But 'Why die for a lie' is awesome too, as is the title track. I love all the songs except the cover of 'Perfect Strangers'. I'd have preferred another original track. I'm greedy like that. Excellent heavy rock.

This is top notch stuff. Every song is pure gold to me. I knew this would be a great album because I have every album they ever released and they never disappoint me. You just can't go wrong with this band. Buy at any price. I rate this a 9/10.

Ive had this cd for almost one month by now. Usually cd's begins to bore me within' 2-3 days but this one is 'unbelievable'. Its heavy, Its Melodic and its well produced. It has no weak tracks and none of the musicians stands out as beeing 'bad'. The new drummer. Ex Royal Hunt delivers the goods, and Hammer is outstanding. But the best is as always Ronnie Atkins who is 'In My Opinion' one of the best hard rock singers ever. This is fucking class. To release a cd like this in 2006 is nothing more

From: Muddley Date: November 26, 2006 at 17:31
...........than a gift to all of us listening to music and especially Hard Rock. Pure class.

From: the rocker Date: December 12, 2006 at 15:13
i do like this one , mainly because of the last 2 cd's didn't thrill me.but wouldn't miss you is one of they're best songs ever. this is a step in the right direction, for me anyway.

Muy buen retorno, temas fuertes alternadas con un par de "tranquilas", un cover y un tema ultra melódico. Producción brillante y Ronnie Atkins que no será un super cantante pero que me gusta mucho. La 2 es muy a lo Iron Maiden. Si he de nombrar dos temas pues serían "Why Die For A Lie" recuerdan a los Judas, temazo! y "Another Shot Of You Love" super melódica. En realidad hubiera preferido mas temas como Another.. y "Perfect Strangers" tema de no muchos cambios pero la han hecho bien. 8.8/10

Outstanding release. The boys came back with a vengeance on this one. This is definately one of my favorites from 2006. Die hard fans will love this one.

From: Chad Date: December 31, 2006 at 1:00
Awesome. Simply awesome album by these guys. This album rivals and in some aspects surpasses their earlier work. That is a pretty bold statement but this collection of songs backs it up. One of the finest albums of 2006.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: January 25, 2007 at 15:08
A pretty good, impeccably-produced release from this long-running hard rock band, but not nearly on the same lofty level as some of their previous masterpieces ("Sin Decade," "Spooked," etc.). Still, Pretty Maids cranking on 7 cylinders instead of 8 still beats 90% of the melodic metal being churned out today. This album is the equivalent of hoping to wake up next to Anna Kournikova and instead waking up next to your best friend's cute sister...good enough, but not quite as good as you hoped.

Gran retorno

From: z4roxx Date: September 4, 2007 at 10:09
Excellent come back to their always great and unique style. After the crack with the last album they did release another little gem,not at the same level of their memorable cds'but a must...love this band forever with their unique metal feeling!!!!

Just got tickets for their 25th anniversary show here in good ol' Horsens! Gonna be a blast!

Probably my pick for best release of 2006. This album is classic from start to end. I would love to see these guys tour Japan in 2008. I rank this one right up there with Future World and Jump the Gun as being my favorites from this band although Spooked, Carpe Diem and Anything Worth Doing are all excellent as well. These guys should have been huge.

From: RockMan10 Date: April 30, 2008 at 20:50
Geoff, like you, I love these guys. Sometimes it's hit and miss but when they hit, they hit hard and I end up groovin' their tunes for a long time. Ronny has an extremely rare, yet memorable range and Ken can just crush a riff when he wants. The bottom end always sounds good no matter who they have. Keep it up boys!

From: hair metal again Date: October 19, 2010 at 3:13
excellent release by the mighty PRETTY MAIDS,in their own way half melodic and half heavy.years gone by and these guys seem they never gonna stop releasing good hard rock music.great songs like "another shot of your love","as guilty as you are"," such a rush" and "all in the name of love" proove they are still an important act.a must have once again
