I would have to label this as one of the worst CDs I have ever heard. I'm not really into Pride of Lions, but this makes Pride of Lions look utterly amazing. It's defense could be that it's not really a rock CD so it may not appeal to a rock audience, but from the perspective of songs regardless of genre, I just don't think they're good, IMO. 'Hiding from yourself' is excellent melodic rock, but the rest... well, I thought it was terrible. This and Toto are the worst I've heard thus far in 2006. |

Whilst I wouldn't quite go as far as Geoff's statement & Yes, this is a Rock album, I would add that this is pretty disappointing for the most part. The Van Zant brothers co-writes are by far the best tracks on here & have that Southern AOR feel to them. The rest are pretty weak if truth be told with some of the Sappiest lyrics I have heard in a long while. Production sounds great with the assembled cast of musos who perform well.If your expecting the highs of Survivor or POL, search elsewhere. |

Very disappointing disc IMO. The 'back-to-his-roots' approach is fair enough, but to couple that with some of the weakest songwriting of his career is unforgiveable. Whereas I'm a touch disappointed with the new Survivor soundbytes, anyone thinking they're missing Peterik is way off the mark judging by this material. Very raw, not very tuneful, & with only a couple of decent tracks, this - with some good quality MHR CD's available this month - is one to avoid. 5/10. |

well, only one or two keepers on this one, I hope the new Survivor album is not as dissapointing as this one, maybe they need to all get together again, oh yeah, and why is Jim not on the new upcoming Survivor?? wonder why he did not put out another POL instead of this one?? |

Comments above are a bit too harsh on this one. Sure it's kind of a mixed bag, but there are some killer tracks to be discovered here: Above the storm, Hiding from yourself, Midnight in my soul, Burning with a reason. And the production quality is excellent too. |
