Great band. Absolutely love the riffs and saw them live back in the day. I wish metal would come back.....:-(

From: Don Date: February 23, 2002 at 13:09
This is a great CD, despite the influence of Richard Marx. Saw Vixen on tour with Ozzy and White Lion back in '88, and they played an incredibly heavy live show. Miss 'em a lot.

From: James Date: August 19, 2002 at 15:56
I really like this alubm but the funny thing is that the Demo cd Shania Twain recorded called BEGINNINGS, before going country, sounds a lot like this. If Mutt and Shania had known each other back then Shania could have given Vixen a run for their money.

From: Spacey Date: September 3, 2002 at 11:04
What can I say ´bout this band you already don´t know? They´d stick to metal.

From: purrfect kat Date: September 7, 2002 at 3:17
This band is cool so if ya don't have this lil puppy then I suggest You get it cuz there are some really good songs on it BUT whatever ya do don't get the Jap pressing cuz even tho it comes with a bonus tune . . . The silly asses removed the tune called Charmed Life to make room for the bonus song . . . (Talk about CHEAP) . . . 'Charmed Life' in my humble lil opinion is better then their big Hits called 'Cryin' and 'Edge of a Broken Heart'

From: Zenari Date: September 29, 2002 at 14:05
Great album! Those chix rox!

Well, the music is good but I'd rather prefer to have sex with them than listening to and in my opinion here comes the gist of the point: I wonder could they get the same popularity with the same album if they were a male band? My answer to this question is closer to negative. They could be seen by many as a simple Warrant or Poison imitation in such a way. As being eye-washing high-society whores inevitably their appearence comes before their music, either advantage or disadvantage for them.

excelente banda gran voz de janet y un muy buen album para comenzar con su discografia. ferretpj@hotmail.com

Pop Metal at its best. Great choruses and a fantastic singer. Special credit must be given to Share Pedersen, I think that she is a great bass player. I 've also watched their videos and I can say without fear that they kick ass! A true band of the 80s. Edge of a broken heart with it's strong verse and bursting chorus is the best track of the album but you can find excellent samples of melodic pop metal on Cryin and Love Made Me as well. Essential

I bought this when it came out, and for some reason couldn't get into it. The 2 singles were pretty good, but the rest of the disc just didn't do anything for me. They were very good musicians, and of course good-looking as hell, but they just weren't for me.

From: Milovan Date: January 17, 2004 at 22:04
There's no doubt in my mind that this album is as dated as 'The Breakfast Club', but I would love to spend a few months doing extremely filthy things with Roxy Petrucci and her sister Maxine. I won't go into what these things are but I hope she's kept all the fishnets and studded leather gear.

From: Impaler Date: February 22, 2004 at 20:07
For some reason I love this band, oh maybe it is because it has hot chicks that rock me hard! This album is a little simple and silly but so was Warrant's 'Cherry Pie' or all Poison albums. I do think 'Rev It Up' is their best album.

From: Elton Braga Date: March 8, 2004 at 14:11
Nice album and beautiful girls. What a combination!

From: Louis Date: March 22, 2004 at 17:52
Yes....it is a great album with beautiful girls......a MEGA COMBINATION!!!! I'd sure love to meet Janet Gardner.....a kiss on the cheek from her would be a dream come true!

From: gener8tr Date: April 20, 2004 at 13:11
Janet was super hot in 1988... I could care less about their music.

From: Axe Machine Date: May 20, 2004 at 7:04
Certainly a good album and well worth the money. Songs like Edge of a Broken Heart and of course Cryin' are top class AOR tunes.

From: love metal Date: July 21, 2004 at 20:43
I'm not gay but i think poison was hotter chicks. If i'm not mistaken didn't richard marx write some of these songs. thumbs way down, and no I'm Not Gay.

From: Great Dane Date: July 21, 2004 at 21:46
Love metal. Denying that youre NOT GAY will NOT make you straight. :-) Youre right about the music though. Its not that good. I'd give it 7/10.

From: MadTurk Date: July 27, 2004 at 17:21
If you know anything about the biz, you'd know what it's like to release your first album. No wonder REV IT UP's better than this one. Simply cuz they weren't forced to co-write each song and basicaly create commercial hits instead of writing them the way they wanted to. But that doesn't mean that this album doesn't have the killer tunes like CRUISIN', HELLRAISERS, I WANT YOU TO ROCK ME etc.

From: MadTurk Date: July 27, 2004 at 17:21
VIXEN truely deserve more credit as they're way better than a lot of other glam bands. And, THEY'RE TRUELY A CLASS ACT BOTH ON AND OFF STAGE. Not to mention the talent, musicianship and the show they put on ...

From: Uusiolli Date: August 5, 2004 at 21:09
I'd categorise this one AOR. If they wouldn't have been so pretty, nobody would've ever heard of them. Just a bit Madam X (Roxy's old band)into their music and probably at least I had liked them more. Ok, I still bought their next one. 5/10

From: Geoff Date: August 26, 2004 at 7:47
Cool female fronted commercial hard rock. I still love the first song and the more melodic of the others. There are a lot of fillers and this is by no means excellent, but half the songs are good pieces of commercial hard rock.

From: SUNSET STRIPPER Date: September 22, 2004 at 10:58
KILLLLERR BAND!!!! THE BEST FEMALE ROCK BAND!!! KICK ASS - PURE SUNSET STRIP EARLY 90S STYLE! GREAT TO EXCELENT ALBUM..TRY: REV IT UP / AND A BAND CALLED SARAYA! ANOTHER GREAT BAND BUT NOT LIKE VIXEN! LOVE IS A KILLER IS MY FAVORITE SONG, FROM THIS ALBUM: EDGE, CRYIN, LOVE MADE ME. I REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I SAW VIXEN ON MTV WAS THE PREMIERE OF 'LOVE MADE ME' - A KILLLERR PROMO!!! GREAT BAND DUDE!!!

From: Carmine Rose Date: October 10, 2004 at 9:11
This is one of the better all-female hard rock bands ever. Not only was everybody in Vixen hot, but their music was insane. This was their best album. Some of the best songs here are Edge of a Broken Heart, I Want You To Rock Me, Cryin, and the best song: Love Made Me!

From: ptw Date: October 17, 2004 at 21:58
I thought they were O.K. just didn't do a thing for me but I knew of the single and the video. They were pretty hot but the drummer reminded a little of Vinnie Vincent at the time or could be his sister. Ha, ha.

From: Carmine Rose Date: October 25, 2004 at 14:32
Hey, Roxy was in a band called Hell's Belles after Vixen broke up. Does anyone know if Hell's Belles ever recorded anything?

From: Axe Machine Date: November 28, 2004 at 16:07
Desperate, Edge of a Broken Heart, Love Made Me and Cryin' are all classics. Perhaps not as good a production as the follow up record, but still one hell of an album. Classic and Recommended. 8.5/10

From: jakki steal Date: April 14, 2005 at 2:29
'i want you to rock me' is the sexiest most kick ass glam rock song ever. vixen are so hot and they write killer rock songs. janets voice is so sexy. roxy is the female tommy lee on drums. hot chicks with guitars what more could a girl ask for!

From: 80's Hard Rock Date: July 20, 2006 at 5:37
Well, everyone knows this band, and if u don't know them u should check them out right away, one of my all time favorite bands!

From: Fat Freddy Date: August 8, 2007 at 17:01
Yea, they were hot, and yea, they could play (sorta) but this one hasn't aged all that well IMHO. I'd rather look at the pictures of the girls in the CD booklet than listen to this nowadays...

From: jan_vexel Date: November 7, 2007 at 17:39
they dont have balls on this one, hahaha.honestly the next one is the kick ass

From: Dante Date: September 5, 2008 at 14:37
I loved the singles but, when I got the album, it all sounded a bit too AOR for me. The songs ain't bad, just don't expect some heavy rock. Peace

From: rockhardrock Date: April 16, 2011 at 6:36
really happy that all female bands in hard rock/pop metal genre existed. and one of the best if not the best was vixen. but my personal opinion is that this album is not as good as their follow up.only 3 songs here that I like: cryin', edge of a broken heart and lov made me. the rest is lack of great hooks.no offense!

From: 123charpenay Date: April 30, 2012 at 11:12
super class female american a o r.a must have.the ice on the cake, vixen s members are very beautiful womens.no fillers only hits.a priority. this record is present in all aor lovers collection.

From: 123charpenay Date: April 30, 2012 at 12:06
i forget track 11 on the japan import is "give it away".an excellent song like the rest.
