Very classy album, reminds me very much MECCA, it's on same league, even IMO better...in comparison to 80s albums it certainly lacks a sparkle but we are in XXI century and for now this is almost perfect album...i consider No Wasted Moments as the best track, with Shaping Faith and Hunger very close...

wow, what a way to atart off 06!!!!! just a great aor album indeed!!!! I hope it is a sign of the aor year to come. I think Thom is a killer vocalist and sometimes the other voices seem like they do not fit, he is just amazing though!!!! this is a class release, Shaping, Hold On, No Wasted moments, Too much, and Hunger stand out for me at early listens!!! I agree with Wotty this is a mix between Mecca and BFaces, but to me, is much better then the Mecca, and a half step below BFaces, GREAT!!

The first touted Big AOR album of the year & all in all a thumbs up. It all starts off very well for the first half dozen tracks, with 'Hold On', 'Hypocrites' & 'Shaping' all being excellent AOR with Griffin & Tommy D particularly shining. As with quite a few other AOR albums released recently, the quality doesn't last throughout, with 'No Wasted Moments' being a particular 'Pig' of a track along with a couple of other rather average fillers in the second half.

So to summise, Not perfect, but highly enjoyable in places, especially the first half, coupled with some quality performances from all involved throughout, with special note for having Thom Griffin back and singing as well as ever. Of it's peers, the questions have to be asked of it. Is it Better than Mecca's debut? - Yes, for sure. Is it on par with Blanc Faces? - just about. Is it as good as last years Bardowell or Radioactive? - NO!!!!!Hopefully that will give you a clue!!!

I disagree with most comments above on this one. It's solid, by-the-numbers AOR, brilliantly sung & superbly crafted, but definitely lacking in the songwriting dept. Only the 'outside' songwriters rescue this, with tracks 2,3,4,7,8 & 12 being excellent - the rest average. As Jez mentions - aside from the opening duffer - the first half is good, but the fillers really drag this down. Mecca is a good comparitor, is a bit Asia-esque in parts too too, but it's nothing special IMO. 7/10.

Yes it's good, but then again so are many other albums. No doubt, as an early release in the 2006 it will eventually get lost in the wash. To me this reminds me of the Philip Bardowell album 'In The Cut', whereby outside songwriters were used to fill the album out. As a result, the album peaks and troughs. Some good moments, some not so good. Admittedly Thom Griffin can sing, and to think, this is only his second ever major album in 25 years following Trillion's 'Clear Approach' back in 1980!!

I've held off commenting on this for a while. Originally I liked it, but not so much now. I disagree with Jez and Tim (2) and don't think the album kicks in until track 6, 'Make it alright' - my fave on the album. 'Together', 'Too much' and 'Waiting in my dreams' are my other faves. But for me, 'Hunger' is a perfect example of what's wrong with this disc. Perfect melodic verses, and a horrible chorus. There are so many awful weak choruses on this disc, which sort of ruins it for me. Decent AOR.

well, this one has not grown on me much, initial reaction was good, but, did not make it in my top pile of stuff, I think I was so much looking forward to it in the beginning that I tried to love it, but, just ends up ok with me, oh well, not bad, just not killer for me

Can´t agree with some of the enthusiastic posts above. this one lacks of great + catchy melodies . you hear it once, give it a second spin and then another. but nearly no song here that you´ll keep in mind. for sure it´s not a bad release, but far away from mecca or blanc faces. decent melodic but not a must. 7/10

oliver am 100% with you. have the album but it no way near close to the brilliant mecca or almost as good blanc faces. 7/10 max.

Another brilliant release of Tommy Denander. This is absolute perfect AOR and I think it`s the best album in 2006!!!! Listen to the opener "Hold On" and you`ll know what I mean!!!

Typical Tommy Denander-product, the guitar work is great as always, and much attention to detail in the finishing of the songs. Top tracks for me : All I Need, Too Much & Hunger.

Pleasent album with some good songs and with a good singer... in my personal opinion is quite normal, nothing really 2 kill 4 but as i said with some interesting moments, perhaps the kind of album that you spin it twice and that's about all..anyway "Hold On" is a strong numberto start with..my faves are "Make It Alright" is a very good AOR song,"Together" is a catchy tune especially the chorus and "Too Much"..then we have goodies such as tracks 2,4 and 12 (which is a cover song originally by Mr Mister)..by the way "No Wasted Moments" is a lovely ballad...in general lines an album that is somehow enjoyable but that's about it.85/100

I am not a human-pc but some of these songs sound familiars to my ears.Great aor with some pompous moments in a typical 80's style."Hold on" and "Together" are killers. Not fillers here.Highly recommended.

Interesting guest, better production than so many other failueres in the genre. Good feeling throughout the album but nothing that really gets you stucked. Nothing(!) on this disc is bad but it doesnt have one superb song neither, only good and okey ones.

pretty good project by AMBITION through Frontiers Records!nice songwriting, acceptable musicianship and some good songs are offered here and overall a pleasant result!of course the problem is that they re not a real band and there s not enuff hard rock edge in the songs!"hold on","hypocrites" and "no wasted moments" are the highlights of this ok release!
