|Eventhough this is a great album, its not as good as the first one.

|Roth at his peek. It showcases Diamond Dave at his jaw droppingly, over-the-top, head-rattling, king of the hill, best ...Eddie Van Halen was OK too.

|D.O.A, Bottoms Up,and so much more, Eddie Van Halen Kicks so much ass with his awesome guitar playing,that some of his techniques he utilized will make your jaw drop. Some of his best licks ever are on this album. This is how rock N'roll should be, loud, intense, and pure kick ass. Rock on guys!!

|This falls well short of the fantastic first album, but it's still full of great tracks. Lots of fun, especially songs 2 and 10.

|Any Van Halen album pre-Sammy Haggar rocks (well...excluding Diver Down...Down with the Diver). Having said that, this album is a more polished version of the first sacrificing hardness (but just a little). Eddies guitar licks are clear,concise and innovative.

|Decent, but nowhere near as good as VH I.

|Very good album, but I prefer 'I' and '5150'

|incredible!!!!!its so raw and melodic at the same time . it doesn,t get much better than light up the skies.

|I believe this to be a better album than the first Van Halen release but their best is FAIR WARNING! A great band until they lost Dave and got Sammy. Then they became a mainstream Pop Band.

|Not their best work but it's Halen so it's good even when it's bad...it's all relative.

|I listen to this album more focus when i heard Dance The Night Away in Mission To Mars movie...It's must be the best song in DLR era (what a melody!!)!!...Overall great guitar playing but i never rate DLR as a great vocalis...he's melody lines here are little boring to me( on his solo albums melodies are far better)...

|Not as good as the first album but more heavier a bit.Overall an album that would have done better!
||Date: May 28, 2004 at 4:27|
|Would have done better than what exactly?
||Date: May 28, 2004 at 6:13|
|well,would have done better in music wise given a band as good as van halen and all their talented squad.

|This one didn't have very many good songs. i was highly surprised.

|To me this album was the bible for 80's pop hair metal, a TON of bands tried to simply re-record this disc to no avail. A perfect combination of melody and heaviness that still has teeth and attitude. For my money 'Dance The Night Away' is the quintessential pop-metal song and there's just riffs galore on this album. Great example of writing melodic tunes while still retaining a harder edge. Love Hagar but they'll NEVER recapture the energy and sheer unbridled joy of their Roth years.

|There was no way that Van Halen could top their debut, but this album is great in it's own right. This continues the style of the debut mixing great catchy hard rock such as 'Beautiful Girls' and 'Dance The Night Away'(maybe the textbook song for pop metal bands to copy) with some of the most innovative guitar playing of the time. 9/10

|After the nearly perfect debut, came this weaker second album. Quite nice anyway. 8/10.

|In someways the record came off as the ultimate metal party record. The first record made a statement and this was meant to be great f*ckin fun, a blast to play and party. That was what Vh was all about. They did it in Aces. You can say VH is really the ultimate metal party at this point. That's what they wanted and became known for. It an orange and the first was the apple. Both great but for me the 2nd was more celebratory.

|This one picks up where the first one left off. Like the day after a Great party this is a little Bleary eyed and hungry wanting to give you more of the same!! And it does...Man you can smell the smoke of a Thousand bongs on this.They were the Epitome of Hard Rock in those Days...Right up there with Zeppelin as the Greatest Hard Rock Of ALL TIME...The Colt 45 was Flowin(Alex's Favorite)...The lines were being cut and drawn...Lets Go...9.5/10!!
