Only EVH can make the drill into a musical instrument. Poundcake! Top of the World also sounds great.

The greatest and the best album w/ Sammy Hagar. I always imagined myself playing Poundcake live. It's been 10 years but i haven't gotten over it, the album is just great.

I agree that this is probably the best Van Hagar album.True,it does lack some of the variety of OU812,but it makes up for it in sheer power.FUCK rocks from start to finish;it rocks harder than any VH album since Fair Warning. Poundcake is a thunderous opener, while Judgment Day is a more lyrical rocker.316 is a great solo spot for Eddie,Right Now sports some great piano,Top of the World closes it in style.Spanked does have some embarrassing lyrics, but,c'mon this is a great album.

This is a very provoking VH-Sammy album. Sound is harder than other VH records. There is a super intro by 'Poundcake' and continuation with 'Judgement Day'. 'This Dream Is Over' and 'Top Of The World' are also great songs. Still exciting years after its release.

With the best album Van Halen ever released, one needed to hear only 20 seconds of the first trach to understand what is going on here! it is useless to point Eddie's significance as a player as he is the most influental guitar player of the century. But what about this unique sound? It is an explosion! Anyway, Right Now was always my favorite song and there are some great songs here that easily remark Van Halen's career. This album for me is full of memories. Thank you for the music

I can't stand people that mistreat the Sammy Hagar area! Maybe David is 'The Hard Rock Frontman' but all the Hagar recordings are good enough to worth your money. This album has very good tunes and the vocals are greats. I enjoy a lot the guitar experience in pleasure dome, simply wonderful.

This album is more back to the '5150' sound after the dissapointing last album. They turn out some of their best Sammy-era songs in 'Right Now', 'Top Of The World', and 'Runaround'. But I never get the urge to really listen to this album a lot. It's fine, but nothing special. 7/10

Somebody said only EVH could make the drill into a musical instrument. Well Mr Big's Sheehan and Gilbert played duet with drills. This one is not my favourites. 6,5/10

Other than VH classics 'Poundcake', 'Runaround', 'Right Now', and 'Top Of The World', the rest of the disc is rather forgettable. 'Man On A Mission' deserves honorable mention. 6.5/10.

Pardon my rant, but I kept listening to these things hoping they would get better, being the long time Sammy fan (since Montrose days) htat I am; Another commercially acceptable pile of trash, sounds amateurish. Ranks right up there with Bon Jovi.

propane you are an idiot some of your reviews are amatuerish this is a great rocking album better then ou812 but not as good as 5150 sammy's here is amazing he brought the van halen songs to life and eddie with the power drill intro to poundcake is amazing not a bad song on here pleasure dome would be the worst and that's not bad judgement day is an awsome riff, and sammy shines on runaround,in and out and the brilliant right now eddie's 316 is a nice guitar part also that he continues to use live

Kind of an underrated disc, as there are several strong album cuts, making it a little more consistent than OU812, although the highs aren't as high. "Pound Cake" is cool but a bit too long, and "Judgment Day," "The Dream Is Over" and "man On A Mission" are all good. "Runaround" is easily my favorite here, and one of my favorite Van Hagar songs from any album, a true gem. "Top Of The World" has a good intro riff, but sounds too forced in the end, like background music for a corporate pep-talk video you'd be required to sit through at work. "Right Now" is even more tha tway, and sounded like a Pepsi commercial even before it became one.
