Quite possibly the worst Van Halen album from the Dave era!! But still, this album rocks, like any other Van Halen album!! Little Guitars is definitely the highlight of this album, but this album has too many covers!! But who cares, it's Van Halen and it rocks!!!!!

Uhhhhh. This one is getting close to beeing the worst on this site.Only one descent track. Where have all the good times gone. I bet Van Halen must have been wondering in the studio. How many covers are there on this cd. !!!!!!!

I agree that this is the weakest of the Dave-era albums. But it's nowhere near as pitiful as VH3, I'm sure everybody will agree w/ that!

I agree with many of you. This is the weakest of ALL the VH albums, Dave's desire to run the band and impose his will was to the deteriment of the music, too many covers, but Eddie's guitar work still shines through...'little guitars' is the pick of an ordinary bunch of songs...3.5/10

Too many cover songs, too many 'cutsie' songs, just a bad overall effort here. Thankfully 'Where Have All the Good Times Gone','Pretty Woman', and 'Dancing in the Street' are listenable, or I couldn't think of a good reason to own this one.Thankfully they followed this one with the incredible '1984'!!!

Still a fun album but probably the worst of the bunch until 'Balance'.

This is Edward's least favorite album as well...'Too many covers'. But it still kicks some major butt! Hang Em High and The Full Bug are great high energy rock tunes typical of Halen. Crank up the volume for Intruder...very powerful and magestic sounding. And Secrets and Little Guitars add some unigueness to this album as well.

LITTLE GUITARS is a great song, probably the only good song on the cd in my opinion.

The weakest Dave-era album. The covers are both good ('Where Have All The Good Times Gone' and 'Dancing In The Streets') and bad ('Pretty Woman'). Of the originals, 'Little Guitars' is the best. 6/10

If you only will buy one Van Halen album. Don't buy this one. Or any after Roth-era. This is just an album. 6/10

This is the one everybody loves to hate! Some call it the David Record, others say they lost it.Well there are the few of us who love this also!!Little Guitars,Cathedral,Secrets these alone are worth the price of admission..Some others were... well...maybe over thought. At the time this was released, you could not find a copy at the Record stores cause they were flying off the shelves..NO BRAKES....WE'S FREEWHEELING!!!!9/10!!

This one was a disappointment because of the commercial lean. I still like it but little did I realize at the time, this was the obvious direction they wanted to go in. Too much commercialism on this one.

Meh fuck all you naysayers. This is Van Halen! Sure sounds like Van Halen. Still similar production. And, as usual, still diamonds in the rough mix somewhere. Little Guitars is awesome, so is hang em high. I even like Cathedral, fuckin good little bit o synth (sign of things to come). Still head and shoulders above the Hagar albums, this is in a different league, it has an attitude.

Where Have All The Good Times Gone is OKish but just another dull tuneless number. Hang em High is another terrible song. Cathedral is a good solo. Dancing in the street and Pretty Woman are the only slightly listenable tunes on this album. The rest is showcases David's obsessions with bluegrass.

Bluegrass? You serious? I agree that this is a pretty piss-poor record, though. Probably the least of the DLR years. Just too many covers and dumb instrumentals. "Hang 'Em High" and "The Full Bug" are the only good original songs, and "Pretty Woman" is all right. The rest is eithe rtotally useless or just plain bad. Or both.

"Where Have All The Goood Times Gone" IS a cover, dude. Obviously not as welll known in its original form as "Pretty Woman" or "Dancing In The Streets," but a cover all the same. I can't think of who did it first, offhand. Fleetwood Mac, maybe?
