From: Sal Date: July 10, 2001 at 23:36
jump man!!!

From: Mike G. Date: July 25, 2001 at 14:10
This is absolutely the best Van Halen album since Van Halen I & II!! From cover to cover this album is another definitive hard rock album!! Could go down as another one of the greatest guitar albums ever!! If you don't have this, do yourself a favor!! GET IT-TODAY!!!!!!!!!!

From: Hahaha Date: July 31, 2001 at 22:50
The best Van Halen album??? Very poor hard rock!!!! The only song here is 'Jump'!!!!

From: madrid Date: January 9, 2002 at 21:54
The last great Van Halen album.Every song rocks.

From: richierocker Date: May 19, 2002 at 16:08
All I have to say is Drop Dead Legs. Pure balls and attitude.

From: Desslar Date: May 21, 2002 at 16:03
It rules. The energy falls off a bit on the last few tracks, but what a beginning! 'Jump' is always a great pick-me-up.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 27, 2002 at 23:06
I was talking to a co-worker one time, He said' do you know what the most underrated Van Halen song is'? I said ' Drop Dead Legs' he agreed. This song is so awesome when played to maximum volume that it makes you feel like a Rock N' Roll animal. This whole album kicks ass. So many good songs, and Eddie whails on the guitar and has his hammer on taps in hardcore effect.

From: Rockforever Date: July 12, 2002 at 14:19
Definitely one of the best albums of the 1980s.From the opening title 'song' to House of Pain, '1984' rocks with an incredible intensity.Jump is obviously the most wellknown track, and is excellent, but there are many other rockers here that are less wellknown.Panama has one of the catchiest guitar riffs ever,I'll Wait is more diverse, while the other tracks, especially Drop Dead Legs, will just kick ur ass.All band on top form;Eddie's solo on Hot for Teacher is fucking awesome.

From: steve Date: May 1, 2003 at 17:58
the real VH, with Diamond Dave, thier best days, songs are more fun especially hits like Panama, Hot for Teacher, and Jump thier best

Freakin' incredible album here. Not a bad song amongst them. I always thought the song 'I'll Wait' should have been a bigger hit...oh well. By far, the best VH album of the 'Roth era'.

From: Blaster Date: November 6, 2003 at 3:18
This is the greatest hard rock album ever, I still blast it and do air guitar to the Hot For Teacher solo. Every song on it is excellent, Dave really left with a bang. I still think Drop Dead Legs should've been the 5th single, that one was a monster.

From: sparkyass Date: January 25, 2004 at 2:23
the last great album from the gods of rock!!!!everything after this sucks. roth took all their nutsacks with him!!!!!!

From: James Date: February 1, 2004 at 14:57
Keyboard's (syn's) in hard rock. It became popular here.

From: John Date: February 16, 2004 at 19:47
As long as Diamond Dave was frontman Van Halen sounded like the Van Halen everyone knows. I had to throw that in being a fan of the great Eddie Van Halen. I enjoy seeing Ed in videos like 'Hot For Teacher'. I'm a fan of the early 80's kind of Edward Van Halen. Back then he and Alex ruled stages globally. 1984 is a Van-tastic and spectacular album. Eddie & Alex are the best & they sound the best.

From: Impaler Date: February 23, 2004 at 0:34
I hate 'Jump' but I love the rest of this album.

From: Atomic Punk Date: February 28, 2004 at 11:45
The last album with Diamond Dave...pity I've been to some 30+ big name headliner rock conserts. The show for this album is hands down the best consert I've ever been to! There has been talk over the years about a reunion of Roth and Eddie. The problem lies with Roth having to big of an ego and quite frankly I think Eddie was kind of a prick in regard to when they were talking about a reunion. He needs to lighten up...maybe start drinking again!(lol)

From: ok, Date: March 6, 2004 at 2:14
is a great album, but the cover sucks anyway most of the old halen cover sucks !! why the small kid smoking with the angel on his back?

From: Scandinavia Date: March 6, 2004 at 10:19
If you can't see the humour in that you must be a fanatic religious freak or something...

From: James Date: March 8, 2004 at 22:52
I can't believe no one here complains about the keyboards on this album?

From: jack Date: May 20, 2004 at 3:38
This album is top class Which is better off without 'jump'. Don't know why jump is such a hit. In fact, its one of van halen greatest hits. Don't know why but i think its very cheesy and very keyboard orientated. All the other songs in this album is not as popular or 'hit machine type' but they are much better than jump, especially panama! Ratings:8/10

From: Mike h Date: June 3, 2004 at 21:34
They went really poppy on this album. great songs though!

From: Big Papa K Date: June 30, 2004 at 16:32
Big change in sound here as they incorporate a lot of synthesizers turning a few songs into AOR, which work well on 'Jump' and 'I'll Wait'. But they did not forget their hard rock roots on such tracks as 'Panama' and 'Hot For Teacher'. 8/10

From: Uusiolli Date: August 5, 2004 at 22:26
A big step forward after Diver Down. Sad it all ended after this. Panama is one of my favourite Van Halen-songs. If you can play guitar. Put on Jump, and play the keyboardparts along with heavy guitar. Lots of fun. I am hoping that some professional band would do a heavy version for that song. 8/10

From: Gus Date: September 12, 2004 at 0:19
This album sucks. Eddy Van Halen is the worst guitar player ever. In fact the only band thats worse than Van Halen is Led Zepplin.

From: J Campbell Date: September 12, 2004 at 21:00
Gus, you're a funny guy. A good album, my only complaint is that there are only 9 songs, one of which '1984' is a keyboard instrumental. My personal favorites are 'House Of Pain' and 'Drop Dead Legs.'

From: Metalhead66 Date: November 17, 2004 at 13:27
This is the final Resting Place for the Mighty VH.What a Great way to End a Band....Thus we get 8 gems and a short musical statement. Man they had it all.Well now they suck so go figure!!The rumor of late is Sammy and Eddie are fighting Onstage,backstage...HMMM? Maybe the sack is all dried up? No more Bullets to shoot? I don't think even Dave has the same fire either!! Thanx for all the ASS KICKIN music they Gave us..9/10!!

From: Dave Date: November 18, 2004 at 3:01
The rumor is not that they are fighting , it is that the reunion is already finished. How pathetic have they become ?????????????

From: Propane Date: December 3, 2004 at 16:14
I agree with Hahaha, with the exception of Jump. Way too bubble gum for me. The redeemer for me is House of pain. You can have all the MTV bullshit.

From: Jabe Date: March 30, 2005 at 21:53
This album is OK....I thought kinda overrated. The last two tracks is the only place where any real rocking is going on. I like This disc, but compared to the first record and 'Fair Warning', it's watered down VH.

From: Priest On E Date: April 6, 2006 at 17:06
Fantastic album, possibly the greatest of all. Obviously, the hits such as JUMP, PANAMA, I'LL WAIT and HOT FOR TEACHER all fuckin rule, but there are so many rockers here that are vital to the album's success. In particular, DROP DEAD LEGS (should have been 5th single) and the absolutely awesome GIRL GONE BAD standout. Girl gone bad, fuckin one of the best songs Van Halen recorded. Anyone agree? Whatever, I know you all won't, but it caught my attention. Cant belive Dave left or whatever..

From: metalhead4life Date: November 3, 2006 at 13:05
Yeah, this is a classic. Worth having in any rock fans collection.

From: MigPer71 Date: April 22, 2008 at 13:30
uno d mis favoritos album x van halen,la mejor era a los lejos con david lee roth.

From: odinroxx Date: June 6, 2009 at 6:44
One of my favourite =VH= albums!! Except this album came out 1984 not 1983.

From: edwithmj Date: September 25, 2009 at 12:56
Pretty dull album. Jump is good but is done so much better live. Panama is a good song and so is I'll Wait. Everything else is tuneless drivel. Get 5150, it's a 1000000 times better than this.

From: pie75 Date: August 22, 2010 at 4:03
the 2nd best best roth era album jump, panama, drop dead legs, hot for teacher and i'll wait are the best here i agree on 1 count edwithmj 5150 was much better but i think you underate this one some of diamond dave's best work of course they would get musically better as sammy was much more talented and a hundred times better singer

From: ROBERT Date: January 14, 2012 at 17:27
1983, OF COURSE !(not 1984)

From: HeartbreakBlvd Date: September 25, 2014 at 8:01
Accidentaly I've bought a remastered CD but it's still good and have great, 80's climate.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: August 8, 2015 at 15:00
This is a blast!...VH at its very highest peak...using synthesizers and reinventing their sound this became probably their biggest selling and commercial release ever!(talking about Diamond Dave early era)...tracks 2(brutal!),3,6,7 & 8 are outstanding cuts no matter what!!!...91/100

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: August 8, 2015 at 21:16
1984, and especially ""Jup," is what vaulted Van Halen fully into the mainstream. Dave hated "Jump" at first, as the song had been around for at least four years. Eddie only got it on 1984 by faking writer's block. Of course, once the song became the band's first--and-only--#1 single, Dave decided he liked it. I actually like it myself, as uncharacteristic as it sounds. It's the other keyboard song "I'll Wait" that I personally can't stand. Elsewhere, there's prime VH moments like "Top Jimmy," "Drop Dead Legs," "House Of Pain" and my favorite, "Panama." "Hot For Teacher' is a good song and a genius video, and ... well, I've spent some of my school days thinking about other things Ms. So-And-So could be doing with her mouth, too.

From: hair metal again Date: March 28, 2016 at 8:13
superb release once again by VAN HALEN ,a band that was a pioneer for my beloved hard rock genre!the musicianship is astonishing and unique as usual ,the vibe & the groove all over!many big songs like "jump"and "panama" ,but the rest is remarkable too with "i ll wait" being my fav!essential like all VH albums

From: titothetitan Date: May 30, 2018 at 16:48
Boring album, not a single stand out song. The keyboards in 'Jump' sounds like a bad Atari game sound. Sorry I can't get into the songs.

From: Doug Date: May 30, 2018 at 18:06
"titothetitan," dude how can you not like Drop Dead Legs?
