The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Whitesnake CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.

EPs and CD-singles from Whitesnake are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

Nice "only for the money" album.

Destined to be one of the most controversial releases for some time, The Purple Album revisits and twists the DeepPurple MK3 era. Given this was hoped to be a reunion of sorts before the passing of Jon Lord (RIP) it's a shame Blackmore & Hughes are not involved (hence then the Whitesnake tag). So what we get is a heavier more modern more Whitesnake shade of Purple, one that reworks some of the classics & lesser known Purple tunes. Maybe a few too many lazy hokey blues numbers are included here but they balance the heavier directions well considering the beef & brawn found throughout the album. Logical opener Burn cranks as always & Stormbringer is an essential headbang. Love Child is a highlight as is The Gypsy, both rocking a storm (2nd pun intended) & while the silky smooth Soldier Of Fortune is great, best ballad goes to the reworking of the excellent Holy Man. Not usually into cover/tribute albums but ignore the critics, ThePurpleAlbum is at its core a nostalgic treat Rating 7.5

I'm seeing these guys play in about a month; looking forward to it. Guessing they will play a few from this album, hopefully "Stormbringer," which I think their version is great. One thing about Coverdale you have to be impressed with is his knack for putting together great lineups's. Reb Beach in particular this go around, he is SOOOO underrated.

I'm a big Whitesnake fan, and I loved the last 2 CD's, but "The Purple Album" doesn't do much for me. I'm not familiar with the Deep Purple/original versions, but IMO the Coverdale/Aldrich songwriting team is much stronger than the songs presented on this CD. Also, Beach and Hoekstra are talented guitar players, but they lack the "fire" that Aldrich brought to Whitesnake (I actually think Aldrich was the best "fit" Coverdale has had in a guitarist and songwriting partner). Purple is not a bad album, there are some good songs/moments, the playing is solid, but it lacks the songs and guitar of the last 2 Whitesnake CD's.

Saw these guys over the weekend. My comment above stands; the band is really strong. Coverdale is obviously older these days and he can't quite keep up with his younger mates (note though that Tommy Aldridge, who is no spring chicken, continues to amaze on the drums, that dude is unbelievable with his double bass drumming). The set does include a mix of Snake and Purple songs and there were some lulls, especially when it came to the Purple songs. But these guys drew over 10,000 so not a bad night for them. Night Ranger opened and they were great.

Upping my rating for this one to a solid 8, The Purple Album is a grower and the Deluxe version contains couple cracking bonus tracks that shouldn't be missed. One should consider it over the standard if can spare the coin.
