One of the best SNAKES records ! A cool and bluesy 'crying in the rain' and the best version of 'here I go again' with Jon Lord's intro. A must have.

This is the last of Coverdale's slower bluesy style rock albums before switching to the high energy rockers and power ballads (and Tawney) that would make the band popular thru the late 80's and early 90's. This album seems a little more inspired than previous releases and gives a hint as to the direction the band will take down the road. Here I Go Again is superior to the later version IMO but Crying In The Rain sounds a bit better on the '87 release. An often overlooked album worth getting.

I like this version of 'Here I Go Again' the best, too. Rest of the album's pretty average in my opinion, though 'Rock n Roll Angels' is an excellent upbeat rocker. Worth getting for those 2 songs alone.

'Dancing Girls' gets my adrenaline pumping everytime! Whitesnake were such a great outfit on those early 80s releases...

From: Elton Date: November 3, 2003 at 15:49

I'm listen whitesnake since I was a child . This is a great band, when you listen a cd you really feel the song in your soul, you just put the song and feeling. I'm recomend

Their best album imo and as said before, Crying In The Rain and the REAL version of Here I Go Again really rocks.

From: Uusiolli Date: August 5, 2004 at 18:46
Not as good as two before this, but still very good. On this album there's some not excellent songs, like Rock'n'Roll Angels and Dancing Girls. On the other side THE version of Here I Go Again, beats the newer 'american' version hands down.

From: Renato Palhano Date: August 15, 2004 at 21:10
the production of this cd its a lit' poor, but the songs are amazing!!!The original version of Here I go again and Crying in the rain are so good than their epic re-records on 87 album.A good album, with lot of good ideas.

GREAT CD

From: Propane Date: December 1, 2004 at 21:26
Another perfect match for the boys of WS. With the addition of Mel Galley this one was a soul reaching masterpiece.

From: Remastered Reason Date: January 15, 2006 at 0:33
The perfect companion to their last effort but a little more polished. Coverdales vocals are up front & in your face on this disc!!! Rock On!!!

From: Zze Date: November 1, 2007 at 16:06

I get more difficults to find a bad work by withesnake. I think whitesnake is one of the beat band of all time. If I can, I would say also better the deep purple although deep purple was pionniers for hard rock. David coverdale is my favourite singer and very good taste for sorgwriting.

every release of WHITESNAKE is essential for hard rockers.this one is no exception ofcourse with well performed bluesy hard rock tunes, nice groove and many good songs like "here i go again","dancing girls","saints an sinners" and "young blood".surely a must have

It's a little tough for those of us who came to know Whitesnake through their late-'80's heyday to wrap our minds around this pre-MTV version. No question, the band sounds a lot "smaller," if you will. The production is very raw and stripped-down, and puts me in mind of the first couple Fastway albums from around the same time. Similar style of music too, although with the addition of a second guitar and keys of course. A few songs sound dated, even by 1982 standards, like "Love And Affection," 'Rock 'n' Roll Angels" and the bouncy "Bloody Luxury" - they all sound like lost Foghat tunes or something. "Young Blood," "Rough An' Ready" the title track and the original version of "Crying In The Rain" are better, and of course there's "Here I Go Again." Here, the future #1 sounds a lot more down-to-earth minus all the bells and whistles of the '87 version(s). Is this version "better?" I dunno, but it's different. This is a good, but not great, album by a band that sounds quite British ...

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: March 3, 2020 at 4:08
... which of course they were, and which became an issue on the next album. And they sound somewhat stuck in the previous decade.

From: tomdwa Date: April 21, 2020 at 9:45
Obviously this doesn't reach the quality level of their previous album, but i's still a fine bluesy hardrock-effort. Victim of love is the clear winner here, what a cool track!

From: juan carlos Date: April 27, 2020 at 3:45
ooh man What a Great album indeed! For me this is a Classic Bluesy HardRock album IMHO! "Crying in the Rain" "Here I Go Again" "Victim of Love" are ANTHEMS! I really love this album and it's a Must Have to any Whitesnake fans. A MUST HAVE! 90/100
