This & the ALLEN/LANDE album have made my year. Kiske's vocals on this are just a masterclass, not many vocalists could sing the chorus for 'Magic Carpet' & hit those notes. This album is really just AOR albeit with a slightly heavier guitar edge in places, & it really just gets better every single time you listen to it. Tracks 2,3,6,9 & 10 (as well as 11 if you get the Jap version - which you should) are all genuine KILLER tunes & only ballad 'Heavens Door' is a little too sugary-sweet. 9/10.

Michael Kiske is excellent on this as TIM (2) states and there is some really memorable stuff on show, My faves being the opener 'Cross The Line', 'I Will Be Waiting' 'To Late' & 'Magic Carpet'. A Great production by Dennis Ward gives the whole album the necessary sheen that puts alot of other releases of this type to shame. I prefer the Allen/Lande album to this one, but this is still a fantastic release and is assured of a high placing come years end.

Never been a Kiske fan, but this is . . . GOOD ! It's very close to even AOR, only the guitars are mixed a bit upfront, something where mr. Kiske is not happy about at all ! He wanted to make a real AOR record. Shame this ain't a pure AOR record, but it's still bloody great. Not only this one made my year (what about Presto Ballet, Bardowell, Masterplan, Dream Theater, Vanishing Point, Lightspeed, Shadow Gallery,Iommi, Royal Hunt, Blanc Faces, Hartmann, Lana Lane, Starbreaker, Rob Rock,

Brazen Abbot, Gotthard, Edge Of Forever, Cry Holy, Secret Smile, James Labrie, Magellan, Redemption, Mystic Prophecy, Space Odyssey etc. etc. + upcoming stuff from Bruce Turgon, Change Of Heart, Primal Fear, Flagship, Montrose, Frederiksen-Denander, Khymera, Suvivor, Radioactive, the mighty Legs Diamond etc. etc.) ! but many others as you see. Good year for prog rock/metal and melodic hardrock (not that good for AOR, I'm afraid !). Nice surprise !

This is a brilliant melodic hard rock release. I'm not fond of 'Heaven's door', but the rest of this is awesome melodic hard rock. I'd label it out-takes from PC69's 'Electrified' album, and if you liked that you'll love this. This could have been a PC69 release, and if it were I'd have preferred it to their last 3 albums... and I love thier last 3 releases! This is just great solid melodic hard rock the way it deserves to be done. Awesome stuff and one of my faves of the year.

Micheal Kiske better then ever. This is just superb stuff. Melodic rock at its finest. Easily in top 5 albums of the year. Top notch production also. So when can we expect album no. 2 ? 9,2/10

very nice release, I am new to the musicians on the album but enjoy this one!!! the first song is a bit heavier then the rest, great opener, then it takes a more aor/melodic rock twist for the entire album till the last song, another heavy one, favs so far are Cross, waiting, too late, place and magic carpet. Very enjoyable vocals, great production and strong songs!!!

This is just top quality from start to finish. Not as heavy as I usually listen to, but still plenty of guitar. Big hooks, great production and well written songs make this a must have in my book. Highlights for me are 'Cross The Line', 'Right Here', 'Place Vendome', hell I like just about everything on the disc...

In regards to the Allen/Lande disc, i couldn't agree with you more, Tim!! Makes me smile everytime i spin it. Anxiously awaiting this disc now too. If its anywhere near the brillance of Allen/Lande i will have a perma grin for the rest of the year and beyond

Absolutely brilliant album, and certainly not to be missed for all those who like their AOR with an extra cruch. Kiske sings wonderfully to a bunch of songs written and produced by Dennis Ward of Pink Cream 69. I am not a fan of PC69, and so was slightly put off by that...that was until I heard this monster. Cross The Line opens the album with a bang, and is followed by the stunning I Will Be Waiting, but all the tracks are winners. One of the biggest suprises of the year. Highly Recommended!

A really good album, though I don't think Kiske's vocals are made for this sort of music. His voice is better off in Helloween imo. BUT, this is still a nice album. My fav is Magic Carpet Ride..

Oh my God, one of my absolute favourite releases of 2005, no question. Stunning production and vocal performance throughout, combined with masterful song writing! 'I Will be Waiting' and 'Too Late' are melodic perfection and 'Cross the Line' is just a standout rocker of the year. Personal fav though is 'Sign of the Times' with its epic chorus and soaring melodies. Must buy.

awesome cd! this thing has more hooks than a womans closet! kiske is great and the production is spot on. the only thing is it takes about 5 spins for this disc to grow on you. and when it does it's like getting hit on the head with a hammer! top 5 for the year.

Hardrock/AOR brillante!,canciones memorables y buen produccion y eso que esta Kiske a la voz... aunque con un sonido contemporaneo lo pase re-bien escuchando 'Cross The Line' (potente tema promocional) 'I Will Be Waiting','The Setting Sun', etc. vale la pena tener este disco 9.1/10

CROSS THE LINE: WHAT A SONG'''' why the bands don't make more songs like this one in their albums, why these kind of songs have to be only one in their albums, ???? anyway it's a great album too

I got a copy of Avalon Marquee release with 1 bonus track, but I don't know if mine is an official one or illegal bootleg copy, because the whole CD is kinda weird. The front sleeve is only contained lyrics for 10 tracks without mentioning anything about bonus track (Photograph), but the back sleeve stated that this is Avalon release with 11 tracks (the CD contained 11 tracks though) and the CD-inlay is printed Frontiers Italy without Avalon label. Did anybody got the same thing as mine ?

Kiske's vocal is heart-throbbing and Ward's songwriting is unbelievable amazing. 'Cross The Line' is great gig-opening track, 'I Will Be Waiting' is an emotional melancholic uptempo ballad, and the self-titled track is an uplifting-spirit, happy catchy tune. 'Photograph', the bonus track is also a wonderful item, you should grab the Japanese version for this song. The rest of course are awesome too, not a single filler here, buy or die!

One of the greatest aor cds'in last 15 years, simply awesome stuff and music!this was the kind of album I did want to hear,a perfect join between old style and new inhevitable sound approach.Best Frontiers cd indeed,Michael Kiske sings ok here even if he isn't the same great vox like 15/20 years ago, besides his hair he has lost also his great timbrique but I repeat:the voice here is excellent anyway...11/10!!!

This album was such a pleasant surprise to me, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Michael Kiske's voice is actually much better suited for AOR sytle. People should know how high class & top notch this recording is. The musians are amoung the best available & the songs have so many great hooks. The song 'Cross The Line' is so good that if it were the only listenable song on the album, it would still be worth buying it. From over 9,000 hand picked songs, (since early 80's), 'Cross The Line' ra

A pleasant suprise for me as well as I am not really a Kiske fan but this hit the spot with me especially as I picked it up for cheap. It would not be considered heavy metal but more melodic with a touch of prog to it. 82/100
