From: Skid Date: August 8, 2001 at 20:14
An awesome melodic metal release!!!!

From: WhiteLion Date: August 11, 2001 at 5:07
I find no reason why anyone should buy this cd! It's boring and weak. No fire at all!!!

From: Tim H. Date: November 9, 2001 at 13:03
Typical hair metal songs -not much to it but they do a very good cover of 'Everytime I see your picture' Ballad worth a listen.

From: Glammiemonster Date: February 4, 2002 at 1:32
I love this disc. Perfect Absolution is awesome, go to pieces is better, everytime is a damn great ballad. One of my favourite earky 90s glam albums.

From: chips Date: March 31, 2002 at 20:34
good disc, takes a few listens but if you do it will grow on you, give it a chance and you will learn to love it

From: Last Bandit Date: April 3, 2002 at 14:13
It's a GREAT

From: Julez Date: April 28, 2002 at 12:00
This is a great CD during a time when not so hard groups 'Poison' etc where at the top. This is a great CD to escape from all of that bubblegum rock. Enjoy

From: TIM Date: May 15, 2002 at 21:12
This one wore out on me quick. To me they really lacked substance. Like White Lion said- there's no fire.

From: Andre Tekken Date: August 2, 2002 at 9:45
I agree with my friend Tim here!I can see lots of Bon Jovi influences here! From the music themes to the singer's interpretation!Sligtly more commercial stuff!I like attitude and visual looks, but they could pic up a better drummer! Also the vocals could be a bit less forced up.Overall 69 out of 10.Another thing is that you can notice that all songs are all focused to the big'Bon Jovi everybody sing along'type of chorus and simply forget about the music itself!!

From: Gar Date: September 11, 2002 at 15:41
I didn't see any Bon Jovi influence. I Napoleon's songs are pretty dark. This isn't a 'party' band, yet their songs are strangely catchy. A good album. I would compare them to Lillian Axe. They're not your typical hair band.

From: Andre Tekken Date: November 8, 2002 at 10:58
I agree about the dark approach statement.Sorry but it is obvious that his vocals couldn`t be more forced to sound more like Jon Bon than himself. Also the sing along la,la,la....oha,oha,oah....are all over the choruses!!!Just reminds me all the way 'Born to be My Baby'!!!

From: jety Date: February 16, 2003 at 19:26
i can't see any BJ's influence on vocals, it's pretty diferent...sound more like a Blackboard jungle/Neverland mix

From: Rycheage Date: April 6, 2003 at 22:47
Very good hard rock. 'Perfect Absolution' and 'Sweet Cyanide' highlight a rather inspired effort. The phasing out of hair metal swept them out along with a ton of excellent outfits. Shame. Good disc. 8.5/10.

From: argentino aor Date: April 10, 2003 at 20:11

From: wendal09 Date: December 1, 2003 at 16:13
I didn't like this at all. I really don't like the vocals. The only good thing about this CD is that I got more for it on ebay than I paid.

From: GlenRavine Date: December 31, 2003 at 0:03
After the opening track - I thought this had potential - I was dead wrong - didn't like it at all - 'Perfect Absolution' - great song - after that - all ordinary was expecting something along the lines of the debut by Slik Toxik - don't ask why - but I though it was something like that - anyways - not a bad hard rock disc - just didn't appeal to me. Great opener though.

From: CC Date: March 4, 2004 at 20:47
I only liked one track on this album 'Come back soon',and I only liked that cause it was so cheesey, the rest had no spark at all so I traded the CD!

From: Big Papa K Date: June 13, 2004 at 2:18
I agree with GlenRavine. The opening song offered some promise, but the rest of the album was some of the most coma inducing hard rock ever released. 1/10

From: Johnny Date: July 29, 2004 at 23:59
I thought it was a pretty good cd, 7/10

From: j!iljs! Date: August 16, 2004 at 15:21
NO Bon Jovi! NO weak! NOT thin! fire is PLENTY! DARK good! rock IS GOOD! BE different! I napoleon GET! FAST! you will LIKE! (btw...he lost @ Waterloo)

From: Geoff Date: August 16, 2004 at 20:57
A rating higher than 9! Oh dear, now I feel dismay arriving. I don't mind this album and it has survived many sweeps over my collection to see which ones to sell on ebay to make some money, but the vocals are just horrendous. I quite like a few of the songs and musically it is cool - just shocking vocals. I'd have to listen again to rate it, but I'm thinking about 5/10.

From: c.j. scheck Date: September 12, 2004 at 23:18
ONE OF THE BEST CD'S I HAVE EVER HEARD (NO B.S.) If I only had 10 CD's to have for the rest of my life this would be one of them!!! great CD, Steve vocal is wonderful, Doug - rulez. first time i didn't get in it, only after half an year i've listened to it for a second time after that i can't stop

From: Heather Date: January 18, 2005 at 9:02
Fabulous and that says it all.

From: cook_jaime Date: July 11, 2005 at 13:34
This cd was a bit boring to me. I'm not a big fan of the vocals. I slightly more melodic singer could have made a world of difference.

From: runha Date: September 13, 2005 at 4:29
if somone else would have handled the vocal part, this would have been a good effort, nothing more than that.

From: BIG-TIME Date: October 3, 2005 at 11:38
The singer totally sucks specially in the first song, sound's like he's gonna be sick and it's to grungy for my liking this is new metal not hard rock but there are trace's of hard rock. Firehouse, Rox Diamond, Warrant, Valentine, Bangalore Choir, Motley Crue, all are hard rock nuff said. Different is not what this site is about as stated further up the comments list.

From: hardrock85 Date: October 11, 2005 at 12:40
I think this release is dark, moody, and sick sounding, but it is a classic release of hard rock!! starts off w/ a power house ballad then works its way into keyboard driven melodies and then the rockers, Go To Pieces, Don't Wanna Sleep Alone (awesome drum smashing), Come Back Soon, I Am The Idiot, and Sweet Cyanide really rock!

I kinda like it, sounds like a cross between Shark Island and Bakers Pink IMHO. Very dark, vocals are hit and miss throughout, I like his tone, but he tends to drift off key. Musicians are good, guitar player smokes, production's decent. Really not a bad deal especially at the price it's going for (I just got it for less than $3). If you're in the mood for something a bit less than normal this might be the ticket for ya.

From: mickyandre Date: March 7, 2006 at 9:24
Anyone know what happened to the signer, i read he had stuff for a second cd. But nothin after that. I thought this was a good release.Canadians know how to rock

From: 7Sinner Date: August 15, 2006 at 19:51
Wow..of all the cds I've owned this has got to be one of the worst...I'm rather shocked at the good comments above....

From: the rocker Date: May 22, 2007 at 13:54
had this on tape back in the day. liked did'nt love. everytime is a good ballad.a few good rockers.

From: juan carlos Date: June 7, 2007 at 0:37

From: BlueTears22 Date: August 3, 2007 at 9:48
It's Faaaaaantastic! Great Hard Rock CD! Perfect!

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: February 17, 2008 at 3:06
OK ,77/100 LATE GLAM HAIR METAL Average singer sounds like MINORU NIIHARA from LOUDNESS Some songs are just OK , but there is a special flavor from the early 90's that i like !

From: COBRA Date: March 31, 2008 at 14:11
The vocals totally killed this for me. If they had a better lead singer, this would have been a killer cd. It would have remind you of Warrant, except for the vocals. Track #11 , an instumental was the best part of this cd. I would suggest to avoid this cd, unless you get it for a cheap price, so you can kill you curiousity.

From: Niglin Date: December 24, 2008 at 16:47
Sounds like Bon Jovi etc. Hmmm, are you gay? Nothing at all like that, very unique vocalist, not bad at all; just different (original). The band being on Geffen is of course talented, & the production is very good. This awesome one of a kind Canadian band is balls out, tight, and fresh. Moderator if your gonna delete my posts, well I don't need to say it, you know what you can do! There is lots of flaming, so delete everyones posts in that case, power-tripper.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: November 17, 2010 at 22:18
Brilliant album!!!..if you like hoarsy kind of singers then Steve Napoleon will pass the test just fine ...Hard Rock with some touches of basic Glam...'Perfect Absolution' is a one,'Go To Pieces' & 'Don't Wanna Sleep Alone' are killer ones,'Everytime I See Your Picture' is an amazing solid ballad,'Love Hate' is a personal fave,'Whipped Silly' whips pretty well!,'I Am The Idiot' is another personal fave,'Sweet Cyanide' & 'Concerto In D Minor' is a nice little piano epilogue...this release (their only one shamely) is a good choice to pick 4 sure!!!.93/100

From: rocksoul Date: January 21, 2012 at 11:55
I don't like for nothing, in it there is IMO a song really good: everytime I see your picture, the rest is pretty boring.

From: Mikey Date: June 28, 2012 at 16:25
Don't like this one at all, sold it after one listen. Awful singer.

From: Mace Date: January 29, 2013 at 23:42
Judging from the comments above I must be in the minority in really liking this album. I think the band name is really awkward and sounds pretentious. Grunge bands really knew how to name bands lol! Just put two-three words together and 'magic' we have a band name that sounds cool... Anyway, back to the album itself, I think it is an underrated gem of a disc. I picked it up a few months ago as a 'speculative' pick on ebay and I have not regretted it at all. Geffen really seemed to get some good bands on their roster in the late 80's early 90's.

Oh...yeah...metalmarshmallowman...sorry..i had already forgotten ya,did u exist once???...the sarcastic 'metal freak' that dislike my comments but love to track them down for,i suppose,a sadomasochist purpose...nobody's fighting here but you...are you in love with me pal???..well sorry 2 dissapoint ya but i like women...GET LOST!!!...

From: 123charpenay Date: February 27, 2016 at 15:41
yes the production is perfect ,the sound strong and clear.yes sometimes they looks like to the fantastic shark island but.....this band is a poor clone of shark island.on several songs the singer is a nightmare.of course this band have not the class, the charism ,the incredible talent of shark island.how a so average band could have a deal with a major like geffen?mystery.

From: dany69 Date: February 23, 2017 at 18:50
Not A Mystery,,,,just a wonderful album to listen,,,,Buy this you won't Regret,,,,What a great album,,,)))

From: hair metal again Date: February 27, 2018 at 12:42
pretty good debut for I NAPOLEON and it s quite strange that Geffen signed them back in the day ,as their sound isnt typical and not exactly a safe commercial success!if i had to describe them i d say that they remind me of LILLIAN AXE,BANG TANGO and slightly of ASPHALT BALLET or BATON ROUGE but nearly as good as those acts!the musicianship is ok ,but the vocals are quite rough and the songs arent so good overall! "go to pieces","everytime i see your picture",and "sweet cyanide" the best moments
