Hey, good to see some 'oldies' again on these pages. Decent, but far from great hardrock. Typical eighties stuff, but not on the highest level. Still, a good listening. |

Hey AOR Freaky did you hear Boystown - Angels with dirty faces. I kinda liked it. Not overly spectacular but just a very nice enjoyabe album. I would say 8/10. Strange its not featured here (yet). |

Of course Erik, I do have it in my collection. Older stuff, but indeed good AOR ! Boystown is not great, but as you say, very enjoyable AOR stuff ! |

At the time this bunch (who were actually called Hanover Fist) were touted as a Canadian metal/rock super group with members of Zon and Lee Aaron Project in their ranks. The album was deleted almost on the day it was released as the band I believe had splintered. It was repackaged and retitled Hanover - Hungry Eyes. Pretty solid chest beating rock with a few cool guitar riffs. Standout tracks for me are Hungry Eyes, Standing Six and The Maze. |

I don't mind this. Decent AOR that reminds me of a few AOR acts (That I cannot think of now, unfortunately), but with a slightlier ballsier sound. It was better than I thought it'd be, especially after viewing the album cover, but it's not great. A few very strong tracks, but a lot of filler too. Good album / not great. |

Heard this band on the radio back in 85 and thought to myself, these guys rock! Impossible to find on cd or tape anymore. Anyone who disses this band are apparently lacking for true taste for great metal. I have this on cd and submitted this band to HH because they deserve to be recognized for putting out one killer of an album that creams anything put out today or in '85. Stand up and blast Rock Bottom at full volume or Metal of The Night and be ready to be amazed.Desperately needs re-released. |

Very Good Melodic Hard Rock from Canada. I have this on vinyl and looking for a copy on cd. Metal of the Night rulz, what a song. Hey Kfunke can you make me a copy of the cd for me??? Please contact me jsokoloski7@hotmail.com. Rated 9.0/10. |
From: karlsten | Date: August 11, 2005 at 1:22 |
This band was sued over their name because Hanover Fist was the name of a character in the "Heavy Metal" animated movie- hence the name change. I own this on tape and give it 8 of 10 for a score. Metal of the Night was on the sound track for the movie "The Wild Life" a bad attempt to duplicate the success of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". |

There is an interview with Frank Zirrone, lead singer of Hanover at http://rockindude.homestead.com/Metalmayhem.html. Great band. There were 2 versions of this release, 1 under Hanover and the other under Hanover Fist, both with some different tracks and different artwork. See site above for info. Anyone interested, I have this on cd and would be willing to hook you up with a cd-r copy if possible. Contact me at kfunke@fidnet.com. |

Website is actually rockindude.homestead.com/hf2.html for the interview. Very detailed interview worth checking out if you like this band or are curious about them at all. Has photos as well. |

Almost mind boggling how they could have one brilliant song "Metal Of The Night" and then the rest of the album is just average. 90/100 for "Metal Of The Night" and 70/100 for the rest. |

A decent Hard Rock / Hard AOR(here & there) release...some songs reminds me of mid 80's Helix ...tracks 7,8 & 9 are my faves,quite heavy ones...tracks 1,3,5 & 6 are also worth the listen...80/100 |

Forgot about this band until I saw the recent (2019) S/T remaster, which adds several bonus tracks from "Hungry Eyes (1985). HH shows the S/T/Hungry Eyes 2 album covers but this is not a reissue. MCA Canada released the band's debut Hanover Fist S/T (1983). The band dropped the "Fist" in their name for' Hanover-Hungry Eyes (1985). making the popular move at the time adding a AOR friendly song. Bad move putting the wimpy 'Fits Ya Good'as the first track as it's like mixing oil and water. The movie Wildlife (1984) which was a poor man's Fastimes at Ridgemont High had the soundtrack produced by Eddie Van Halen. EVH heard 'Metal of the Night' and put it in the movie /soundtrack. The singer reminds of a cross between Ron Keel and Parramore McCarty (Warrior - Fighting for the Earth (1985). Unfortunately the album goes down hill fast after MOTN. How many songs from the 80's have lyrics/MTV videos with a "phone" in them? Sending a chick a fierce TEXT doesn't have the same lyrical impact today. |
