Why this band wasn't all the rage back in the late 80s is beyond me, for this is an excellent 80s melodic hard rock album that utterly blows away a lot of the CDs people consider classic. Produced by Paul Sabu, this album is full of the loud guitars, powerful hooks, huge choruses, and gang backing vocals that made the 80s such a great decade for metal. If you like KEEL, AUTOGRAPH, & WHITE LION, you need to own this CD.

SIN DUDA ALGUNA ES EL MEJOR DISCO QUE A PARIDO MADRE

Thankfully this cd was reissued. They were not worth $95.00. Luckilly, I bough a cheap lp first. They have some decent tunes, but I don't think they were among the greatest bands of the '80s and early '90s. They are worth listening to though.

From: nitrodoll Date: August 27, 2002 at 10:15

I bought this album ones from fleamarket and I didnīt listened very good at the time. After a few months I was suprised when I put it on the turntable again! Somekind Of Woman, Youīre Not The First One, Make It Or Break It, etc. they are killers! Ok, sounds arenīt so good, but choruses, synths, guitars and MOSTLY attitude is right on top!

Un buen cd de hard rock melódico donde los haya, esperemos que no vuelvan a separarse, la mejor... "rebel with a cause" saludos. xcourganx@hotmail.com

I probably don't rate this as high as I should purely because I expected better. If I'd bought this album before 'Shattered hearts' I'd like it better. NOTHING at all wrong with it - it is awesome hard rock, but pretty straight forward if I'm being honest and not the awesome commercial / melodic moments of the follow-up. Very good CD, if you like solid hard rock... and who doesn't?!

From: Geoff Date: September 6, 2004 at 2:29
Whoops, Geoff's a dickhead. I mean if I'd heard 'Don't touch me there' after this I'd have liked this better...

From: StarCity Rocker Date: March 9, 2005 at 9:17
I think Geoff is right in that this album is not as good as the follow up. This one was more hit-and-miss. Songs such as the title track, "You're Not the First One," and "Some Kind Of Woman" were very cool 80s metal songs, but on the flip side songs like "Sarina" and "She Can Shake It" were just average at best in my book. Too many fillers on this one when compared to the next one.

From: tomcat Date: March 9, 2005 at 10:06
one of my alltime favorites melodic rock releases from the 80's... excellent songs on this one which i prefered anytime over their second release

From: metalalways Date: May 2, 2005 at 17:16
killer cd, rich, young and pretty, rebel with a cause and fight for rock are the coolest songs on here e.j. curcio was also in a horror movie called hard rock zombies one of them rare and unheard of horror movies.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 25, 2005 at 21:28
Un album con grandes cortes como Some Kind of Woman, Rebel With a Cause, Shattered Hearts, Your Not the First One, Sarina ( 5 cortes Deliciosos que solo los 80's me dan) y eso que se me quedan otras algunos mas Rockeras y algo mas duras pero las mencionadas son clase A1 como todo lo que Recomienda el Fenix, un album Recomendado e Imprescindible en toda coleccion de un verdadero amante de la MEJOR MUSICA.

Love this album - 3 minute melodic rock anthems which contain enough catchy hooks and lyrics to sastify any fan of the genre. Put this with their follow up album, and Silent Rage are definitely one of the most underated acts of the 80s glam scene.

debut release by silent rage ,not so good as described above.i mean this is good but nothing special .paul sabu does everything from producing till songwriting.there are some great moments like "rebel with a cause","shattered hearts" and some fillers too.the band's rhythm section isnt so strong as it should, maybe its the production .anyway this is acceptable and every hard rock fan should check it out

From: rick kerch vzla Date: August 29, 2009 at 0:27
She's Rich(rich!),Young(young!) and Pretty!!!...i love that chorus man!!!..i remember when i bought this album right when it came out (i have it on Lp)and sincerely i thought that with this debut the band was goin' 2 reach for an acceptable level of importance among the HR/MR circuit of that stage but shamely they couldn't break through the barricades of ignorance..anyway,produced and with composition made by noneother than the multi talented Paul Sabu (isn't that enough 2 have some kind of approval???)the album delivered great songs such as the opener "Rich,Young And Pretty","Shattered Hearts","Make It Or Break It" (excellent indeed!)2 mention 3 at least. If you like melodic stuff yet powerful, buy it!.90/100

I remember the video for Rebel with a cause and thought it was great. I think I only saw it once and they never got any radio play.
