|Less upbeat and rocking than the first solo album from Honest John, as well as lacking the previous album's diversity and fun. However, this is still a quality album of very English rock-balladry (that Mott the Hoople/Ian Hunter influence shines through as stong as ever, even without Darrell Bath on board)....

|...John digs up a couple of old Boys b-sides(his old punk band) for the album; the hippy-pop Garden Gang isn't a highlight for me, but the new version of Pick Me Up is absolutely outstanding, the standout of the record. Not only is this the hardest rocking track on the record, but also breathes new wild life into this once-throwaway track. Another highlight is the other hard-rocker, Beautiful Lies. Crybabys/Boys fans should still enjoy this more mature side to John's writing 7/10
