I am proud of this woman! She rocks...I just wish she would come out of hiding already and make some more music! It must be the wife and mother thing holding her up! God Bless Her.

Excellent 80's metal rocker. I agree, I wish she would come out of hiding and rock one more time!! If you don't have this, get out and find it. "Love Has Taken Its Toll" and "Gypsy Child" absolutely rock!!

i love saraya

From: joe Date: December 13, 2001 at 8:44
vocals to die for, makes me wish I still had my hair.

From: James Date: December 29, 2001 at 16:23
What Vocals is an under-statement. The Best of Vixen with a little Lita Ford and Joan Jett tossed in it the feel of the voice that drives this awesome rock band. You wont believe how good it is till you hear it.

From: Niiko Date: January 5, 2002 at 19:50
One of the coolest records ever heard.. by the way this girl is worth a look .. hope she will be back on the scene soon!

From: Ted Date: January 6, 2002 at 1:56
I Still remember the first time I saw them on MTV. Thought it was one of the greatest bands. Bought the CD. Still one of my favorites, 13 years later. (Have you ever heard anyone say anything bad about this CD? I think not) Oh, and yes, she's a babe to boot. I wish the band would get back together. I don't think they know how popular they were. I'd go see them at an indian casino with the guy from Loverboy.

From: Ronnie Wilde Date: January 6, 2002 at 21:44
She was my girlfriend for almost 2 years...for real. I heard she got married to the bass player in Tesla years ago..She use to come see a band I was in and we actually sat together as she told me how much she wanted to sing..

From: Steve T Date: February 27, 2002 at 10:55
Yeah she married Brian Whaet....unsure if they are still together. Ironic 'cos they sound like a female fronted Tesla....especially the second cd. Good stuff.

From: Martin Date: May 6, 2002 at 5:29
Anybody here played Saraya to their kids? Im still only 17 and i remember my dad playing me their cd's when i was 12 and as soon as i heard it...man became 2 of my favourite albums ever and one of my favourite bands. I play the songs to people at school and even they like it. Too bad they arent around anymore...

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: May 7, 2002 at 20:27
Saraya was borne and raised in Hawaii. She used to work at Musicland with me shortly before she became a rock singer. This album is the shit! Better than her second I think. CHEERS!!!

From: jason Date: May 10, 2002 at 12:20
Yesterday I was on the Winger page with my good friend Tim. We got to talking about Saraya and I mentioned that Sandy was pretty good loking. Then my friend Tim mentioned Doro. I didn't know if I should laugh or throw up?DORO?!......Doro would look better with three eyes and a horn sticking out of her head! So I'm not to sure what Tim was getting at. Anyway, Sandy Saraya has a great voice but her music is a little soft, especially the second album. It needed a little more drive.

From: jason Date: May 10, 2002 at 12:24
What I mean is, Sandy is good looking. Not, good loking. If Tim sees that he will have a cow! My good friend Tim is a little emotional at times and you need to be on your toes.

From: The Prophet Date: May 11, 2002 at 20:56
This is my cup of tea. I love every tracks on this album. The first , Healing touch and Fire to burn are my favs. I agree, the second was not so good, I was a little dissapointed about it. Gigi Hangach from Phantom blue was an hottie too. Breast,Breast,Breast.

From: Kim Date: July 23, 2002 at 16:57
Well I dont want to dissapoint everybody. Sandy moved to Denmark where she met me. We got married and now have 18 kids. Its impossible to see that she has given birth to 18 children, and she looks just as good as when she played with Saraya.................Damn wake me up. Apart from that, they were an awesome band. Their two releases are great.

From: AAAOOORRR!!! Date: July 27, 2002 at 0:37
ABSOLUTAMENTE GENIAL COMPRALO ABSOLUTE GENIOUS BUY IT! RATING 10/10 FOREVER YOUNG SERIES!

From: ReubenLiebowitz Date: August 3, 2002 at 16:40
I can't recall ever having heard a better album. In my opinion, the second one is way better than their first release, which makes it even more disappointing they have split. Is anyone, by chance, able to e-mail me a .mp3 copy of their "Chainsmokin'"? (Released as bonus track on the maxi-CD of Seducer) Please send to LiShiShi@gmx.net

If anybody has more info, please tell!!! Or if any fans wanna talk (it gets so lonely being the only fan in my area) email me at the_brush@hotmail.com

One of the better female fronted acts to come out of the 80's.this Jeff Glixman(Kansas,Malmsteen,Black Sabbath,Paul Stanley)produced album has some cool mainstream rock namely "Healing Touch","Fire To Burn","Love Has taken It's Toll" and "Back To The Bullet"

Good record, reminds me of a heaviër Heart, but not with the same class. Anyway, every melodic lover should have this record, i'ts certainly worth a place in you collection. Hope that Sandi returns to the melodic scene.

From: Moonchyld Date: February 14, 2003 at 5:36
Wow, took me a while to find this site. I loved Saraya! Sandi kicks ass! I need to order the cd, I have the tape and the album on vinyl from the 80's and I wore them out. I wish this kind of rock would take over our air wanes again. Those were "Good Times" Peace and Love!!!!!!!!!!!

From: koogles Date: February 16, 2003 at 5:16
If you like this CD, check out the band Loudshine s/t with Nina Zzo (1994, Long Island). Very similar style!

Es un album genial.Buena producción.Buenos músicos.Sandi tiene una voz impecable.

From: TheRipper Date: May 1, 2003 at 23:01
It's not often, but after listening to this release, I then got out the US indie TC Kross (On The Edge) and had a rare little Female Fronted gathering and couldn't help but notice the similarities between the 2. Nothing against it, I'm just not as familiar with all the FF bands but when they are as catchy and polished as these, one can't help but to recommend either release. Not a weak song to be found on either release, ESSENTIAL for Female Fronted/HR fans.

From: wendal Date: May 2, 2003 at 21:40
This debut and the 2nd release are tremendous. I agree with the above reference to Vixen and Lita Ford vocals. I listen to this while sippin' a cold one wondering if my dog sitting next to me realizes how good this music is he is hearing.

From: Giles Oxford UK Date: March 16, 2004 at 6:27
Bought the album when it came out. Fantastic what more can I say. Listen for ST CHRISTOPHERS MEDAL and ONE NIGHT AWAY. Moody and melodic and yet SO heavy when it counts. Saw the band in London 1989 and they are the same live. If you like this look out for WITNESS they are superb.

From: meradona Date: April 1, 2004 at 12:29
es un disco absolutamente impresionante, creo que sandy es la mejor vocalista femenina que jamas ha cantado a.o.r. . Un disco en el que no sobra nada , grandes voces, guitarras, bases ritmicas . En resumen un discazo. COMPRATELO!

From: Big Papa K Date: June 14, 2004 at 18:12
Decent female fronted hard rock band. "Love Has Taken Its Toll" is a strong opener and "Back To the Bullet" is the bands best song, but the album would have been stronger if "Timeless Love" from the Shocker soundtrack was included. 6/10

From: jessica96fish Date: July 1, 2004 at 12:38
a must have album.a real strong album.and as i'm mad about female fronted bands.this stands shoulder to shoulder with most of them.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the first Saraya Album. Either tape or CD. I had it years ago but lost it. I think it's a rock classic. Would love to hear it again. Many thanks

From: Paul Ryan Date: July 7, 2004 at 17:46
Dave London, have you tried RPM in Huddersfield? That's where I got both the Saraya CD's from. They have a web site with secure on-line ordering. If you go to www.rpm4music.com and search from there or you can phone them on 01484 643392 or e-mail Mark the owner at mark.rpm@btinternet.com. Hope this helps. Bought loads of stuff off him myself, great guy and he won't mess you about or rip you off. Jesus, I should be on commission! Tell him I said nice things about him ;-) Paul

From: Dave Date: July 8, 2004 at 12:58
Paul Thanks ever so much for that mate will give him a go. Fingers crossed. Rock on

From: West Of Sunset Date: July 31, 2004 at 2:36
I bought this one 4 years ago on cd alltogether with the second cd.I prefeer "when the blackbird sings", but this one have outstanding tracks like "healing touch" or "Fire to burn". An outstanding hard rock act. 8.5/10 Contact:westofsunset@hotmail.com or davidgilvallejo@wanadoo.es

From: Geoff Date: September 1, 2004 at 23:02
Speaking of female vocalists, here we have my all-time fave. What a voice this girl has! Hearing her on the beautiful 'Healing touch' makes me think naughty thoughts. That song and 'Back to the bullet' are the only two I really love off this CD, but overall it's a good solid CD with a beautiful voice. 'One night away' and 'Fire to burn' are very cool tracks too. Good CD!

From: Jonny_B Date: September 9, 2004 at 21:41
A great female-rocker. The only thing I would change is to replace "St. Christopher's Medal" with "Timeless Love" (which is only available on the Shocker soundtrack.)

From: Joe M. Date: September 23, 2004 at 23:23
This woman rocked. Don't know why I didn't buy their albums when I had the chance but I've been kicking myself in the ass ever since. I have searched high and low in the US for this CD and cannot seem to find it. I checked out Kazaa and Napster to no avail. Does anyone know where I can get a good quality CD of the first album? Don't trust the bastards on e-bay.

From: Date: September 24, 2004 at 9:03
Don't trust the bastards on EBay? Many honest and reputable sellers do business on Ebay-don't let the tales of a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. Many decent ebay sellers post on this site quite a bit. And yes this is a decent disc.

From: Dean Date: September 24, 2004 at 9:04
oops- forgot to put my name on that last post-not trying to hide anything.

From: Paul Ryan Date: September 24, 2004 at 13:36

Joe, there's a few copies on gemm.com, but they're not cheap (anywhere from $30 to $115). Good luck!

From: Carmine Rose Date: September 29, 2004 at 18:07
Oh my God, this has to be one of my all-time favorite albums. Everything sounds awesome here, the guitars rock, and especially the beautiful Sandi Saraya, she sounds great, she kicks ASS. Best songs are "Love Has Taken Its Toll", "Healing Touch", and "Back To The Bullet." All of the other songs are awesome, but those three are my very favorites. This album scores a 9.5/10

From: Dave Date: September 29, 2004 at 22:57
Carmine , if you like that ,check out the second album "When The Blackbird Sings", i think it's better than the first and you can get it dirt cheap on ebay!!! Also they were great videos for "Love Has Taken It's Toll" and "Back To The Bullet". It's a pitty PolyGram didn't give them the promoting they deserved simply because there was a flood of these types of bands in those days and the labels only looked after their big names.

From: ThunderDan Date: October 6, 2004 at 15:52
"Back To The Bullet" is a great song! I heard it earlier this afternoon, yet didn't know who it was. Great sound!

From: l.a. rose Date: April 24, 2005 at 23:00
Sandi Saraya is my fave female singer, his voice is fuckin' awesome and this album is a CLASSIC!!!!!! god bless sandi

From: AOR freaky Date: April 25, 2005 at 2:38
This is indeed a very strong and solid release. Would be nice to hear from her and the band again !

From: Mr.Gein Date: July 19, 2005 at 13:35
Finally found that CD on eBay, I'm so glad !!! A must-have for any hair metal fan. Great songs, catchy melodies, no fillers. Music at its best.

From: SangreAzulForever Date: September 10, 2005 at 8:54

From: Chad Date: September 10, 2005 at 21:13
Essential album if you like female lead singers. Sandy Saraya has a great voice, awesome delivery and a bit of a chip on her shoulder. There are some good tunes on this one. Notably Love Has Taken It's Toll, Healing Touch, Back to the Bullet and Fire to Burn. This one has a bit of a bluesy undertone especially on some of the softer tracks. All in all, a great listen. I still spin this one a couple of times a month.

From: Jez Date: September 11, 2005 at 15:03
A very very fine album indeed & alot stronger than the second 'When The Blackbird Sings' album, which although good, is not a patch on this one. 'Healing Touch', 'Back To The Bullet'& 'St Christopher's Medal' are the standouts for me, although if truth be known, all the material is very strong. The other main highlights on this are obviously Sandi Saraya's vocals, which are fantastic, and a fine band performance allround. Typical of it's time, but definately one of the best of it's type.

From: Fat Freddy Date: February 6, 2006 at 21:54
Sad news, folks... this was in the local newspaper (the Record) here in New Jersey today. R.I.P. GREGG P. MUNIER, 44, of the Hewitt section of West Milford, formerly of New Milford, died Friday. He had been a musician for "Saraya."

From: juan carlos Date: May 18, 2006 at 16:18
Super-recomendado. 9.4/10

From: camelot66 Date: August 17, 2007 at 11:38
This Cd is absolutly breathtaking, the moment it starts and you hear the Voice of Sonya Saraya you are in Love with hear voice.I am so glad I manged to get this Gem on Ebay the other day.I don,t know whot the second Album is like?so if anybody can tell me if I should buy let me know. Also I would love to know if theier is any other band that can compeet with this fantastic Femalefronted Cd,please let me know,I want to give Sonya again such credit for a stunning performance. brilliant!

From: darobinson Date: October 30, 2007 at 17:45
Just as good or maybe even better than the LAOS debut. That is saying alot. This is simply a fantastic set of tunes!!! 10/10

From: edwithmj Date: August 12, 2008 at 18:25
Great album from start to finish. A pity Timeless Love from the Shocker soundtrack wasn't added but I have that track too so it doesn't matter. Perfect mix of keyboards and guitar.

Great album with highlights such as "Love Has Taken Its Toll","Gypsy Child" & "Back To The Bullet" to mention some...i heard that one member of the band passed away so all my respect to his family...anyway if you like Hard Rock with some Glam & Aor touches then you might like this Saraya release!!!.86/100

From: mikey2k Date: February 18, 2012 at 23:06
There are 2 different mixes for "Back To The Bullet" there is a Pop mix and a Rock mix. Which one is featured on the self titled album? I'm assuming it's the pop mix but I do not know for sure. I found a copy of the promo for "Back To The Bullet" online and I ordered it so I will know for sure I guess when it gets here!

From: elljam Date: April 7, 2012 at 5:49
One of the best female voices around & there are a couple of great songs on this, namely "Back to the bullet" & the awesome "Healing touch". It's ruined by the final two tracks that just don't go anywhere & "Gypsy child" is also pretty average. Shame because most of it is very good. Still, when she looks like that it's very easy to forgive.

From: edwithmj Date: April 7, 2012 at 9:59
Time to expand on my last comment. The first song is an average rocker with decent vocals but that's it. Healing Touch is a monster AOR ballad, Get U Ready is another rocker that's slightly better than filler, Gypsy Child is a great rocker with a nice mellow bass line, One Night Away is another monster with loud vocals. Alsace Lorraine is an emotional piano composition from Gregg Munier - I like it a lot, Runnin' Out of Time reminds me a lot of Tooth And Nail by Dokken: it's a fast rocker with super work by Tony Rey. Back To The Bullet is another melodic favourite: you'll find yourself listening to this one again and again - it's very addictive. Fire To Burn is similar to One Night Away and has explosive singing. St Christopher Medal is a very smooth ballad and very recommended. The album ends on a high note with Drop The Bomb which has a rhythmic bass line and another explosive outro solo from Tony Rey. It sounds a bit like fusion but don't let that put you off. Perfection all round.

From: 123charpenay Date: September 25, 2012 at 13:58
the french reissue (bad reputation records) with 4 bonus tracks is hightly recommanded.one filler but the two best tracks of the second album (n°6 and 9)and a super class ballad from mr desmond child.for the 11 original tracks two big fillers tracks 3 and 11.but the rest wow!!!one of the best female a o r ever.lovers of female melodic rock have this cd in their collection.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: February 3, 2016 at 19:23
It's true: Saraya does sound something like a female-fronted Tesla, largely thanks to Sandi's voice. A lot of the songs sound very Mechanical Resonance-like as well. I could seriously hear a young Jeff Keith singing "Get U Ready," for example. But then the goddamn keyboards come in and gum up the works and add that "AOR in leather pants" lite hair-metal feel that reminds me of Danger Danger's debut. Harder than Vixen, not as hard as Phantom Blue.

From: titothetitan Date: November 13, 2019 at 11:19
Very average album. At times the chick tries to sing like Doro and fails miserably as she lacks strengh and breath to do so - just watch on Youtube the weak cover she did of 'Living on a Prayer'. Track #3 'Get U Ready' is a rip-off of that famous song (which I can't remember the name now) and it's embarassing. Production and the other band members are good, though.

From: Doug Date: November 14, 2019 at 0:33
"titothetitan," totally disagree but I respect your opinion. I think this debut is rather good. Her second album is not bad, either. Give it some spins!
