Le doy un punto más a "Real Life" por ser la mas AOR, luego "Is It Imagination" "Anyone With a Heart", "You Can Laugh About It Now", "I Never Wanted to Hurt You" y "Someone Special" en ese orden en segundo rango. Correcto. 8/10

Any english-talking people who knows this one? It looks very interesting, but I haven't got it yet. Anyway I've got a question for You music-lovers out there... Sometimes it can be quite difficult to say what's AOR and what's Westcoast, I think. In westcoast musik the atmosphere is different, and they often use the piano, but maybe someone could describe for me the difference in the way the instruments are beeing used? Another question... On rocknation.dk we had a discussion about Don Johnson an

whether his Heartbeat album is pure pop or AOR. Even though the songs got poppy choruses (and even though DJ's look and voice can be quite wussy), it must be AOR. There's a lot of punch on the drums, the production is like other AOR albums and the tabs on the guitar reminds me of rock and not AOR. Someone who's got an opinion here? It would be nice, if You once again could refer to the way the instruments are beeing used. Thanks!

hello Whitesnake, this one is Good with a mixture of styles AOR/Pop/Westcoast but more Pop/AOR or Lite/AOR similar to Tim Feehan, about Don Johnson Heartbeat is similar to this one too no exactly pure AOR or pure Pop Rock mixture of Pop Rock/AOR any songs more AOR any More Pop Rock, regards and all the best for you.

From: Whitesnake Date: June 10, 2007 at 1:46
Hello Rafo - thank You for answering me:-) Anyway I don't think my questions was beeing answered. I asked about the difference between Westcoast and AOR, and then I asked whether the album Heartbeat is AOR or pop. When it comes to this album, I guess I have to buy it, although Tim Feehan isn't my cop of tea (I find his music a little boring).

From: newscandi Date: September 14, 2007 at 15:43
My meaning whitesnake --Tim Feehan is boring and this is up for checking About the differences in sub-genres I can't tell you. I always found "Heartbeat" very poppy with just more drums/ guitars than normally. However, in the end it's all just a matter of taste.

Newscandi - You are right. Great answer! Where are You from?

From: newscandi Date: September 17, 2007 at 17:53
Hi Whitesnake. I'm from the southern border of Denmark. Means Germany. Don't let yourself be fooled with my nickname. I just like scandi AOR, together with hi tech & female fronted, the most I'll be back with a comment of this soon.

From: Whitesnake Date: September 18, 2007 at 3:15
Hi Scandi. I am from Haderslev in Denmark - not far away from the border. I always like to expand my taste in music. I like AOR music (for instance Scandi AOR/rock), westcoast music (do You know the page blue-desert.dk?), blues, soul and a lot of music that has to do with rock (melodic rock, hard rock and so on)! I actually also like the disco/funk of the 70s, some pop and some metal. I look forward to hear Your comment on this one!

"Anyone with a heart" is a great teaser which makes me looking for more Unfortunatly the other songs don't have that 'hi-tech catchiness' with these great sing-along choruses. It's all more AOR to me which also means it has some hi-tech elements thrown in here and there and doesn't mean it has lots of recognizable guitars. I wouldn't say 'westcoast' to this. Let's say a few are very near to the edge of WC. The voice is OK and it's better than TIM FEEHAN's most hi-tech album "Contact".

From: newscandi Date: September 22, 2007 at 17:22
Other comparations which cross my mind spontanously (don't complain to me later) are more BOULEVARD or WORRAL but also with a bit JOHN WARREN or above mentioned BOB HALLIGAN. 8,1/10

From: newscandi Date: September 22, 2007 at 17:25
Actually no-one has mentioned BOB HALLIGAN here..

This is a v good album worth checking out. Though different it's a bit like a distant relative of Think Out Loud or something like that (actually, while Raleigh writes nearly all the songs on this album, one is co-written by Steve Kipner). Not really any ballads yet lots of irrestable pop rock. Only a couple of songs sound weaker to others like 'Should've known better' or maybe one other on the b-side. 'Moonlight On Water' and 'Real Life' are both catchy while the excellent 'Art Of War' an great AOR track, if chilling with it's sardonic observation of big organized military operations. Overall I'd give this album a good 8 or 9 out of 10. I was very pleased to pick it up cheap with ebay after an original sealed lp came on. I'd say this is often rockier westcoast AOR than some (it has no ballads anyway, that's for sure, but lot's of pop) but never headwrecking as some heavy westcoast can be. Like Michael Thompson band for example...much loved..'westcoast come AOR'..which I can't stand

Not sure what westcoast aor is, but this is damn fine stuff!!! Even before I knew the musicians on it, I thought the drums sounded like Mr. Mister. And damn if I wasn't right. This cd does sound alot like Mr. Mister. I LOVE this kind of (what I call) hi-tech aor. I don't hear alot of westcoast here (a little). Just good pop aor. Sounds like Robbie Nevil, Mr. Mister, Tim Feehan, 80's Kenny Loggins and the like. Very smooth, well written, and damn, good vocals. I am VERY impressed!!!!

From: BDrums1971 Date: December 7, 2009 at 1:14
If this had come out in the early to mid 80's, it should have been huge!! By 1989, the well written, smooth well crafted pop aor style was, well...out of style. This is top notch!

From: Wachen Date: December 17, 2011 at 13:01
Some hi-tech AOR can be found here as the keyboardist and vocalist from Michael Stanley Band ventures out on his own. If you're into Tim Feehan or 80's Peter Cetera you will dig this one!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: December 27, 2011 at 14:38
Decent Pop/Hi Tech AOR songs with a voice that reminds me of Eric Martin at times...best shots for me are "Moonlight On Water","Real Life","The Art Of War","You Can Laugh About It Now","Someone Special" & "I Never Wanted To Hurt You"(nice song)...80/100

From: Erikk Date: August 29, 2021 at 14:36
Excellent well produced hi tech pop aor. Its like BDrums1971 wrote. Would this one have been released in the early 80ies this could have been big. Anyone with a heart is a great opener with a very Catchy chorus. Real Life has "radio hit" written all over it. Nice album 80/100

From: Macca Date: October 29, 2022 at 11:09
this is a stunning album...... Tim Feehan meets Rick Springfield. Big production sound...clean crisp..... AOR POP ROCK with a touch of Hi tech session gtr ace Tim Pierce appears..that should tell you enough First half of the album is the stronger Nice cover of "Think Out Louds"Moonlight On Water" from their Shelf life album...(Steve Kipner) ..has a bit more bite than T.O.L. s version Revisited the CD yesterday after many years..blasted it out in the car..... fantastic.... anyone know of anything else Raleigh did or appeared on???
