The only tape I have ever thrown out the window of a moving car while at the same time punching the jaw of the person who put it in my stereo. It was bands like this that made me start listening to hatecore.

From: hilde Date: April 30, 2001 at 8:08
bob; youre an idiot. roxx gang rules

From: Date: May 2, 2001 at 8:09

From: james Date: May 3, 2001 at 10:56
BOB.....stop smoking crack!!! Roxx Gang is a tight band, good song writeing too.

From: Date: May 4, 2001 at 21:10
This is what music is all about, good attitude, fun rock 'n roll

From: Tim Date: June 2, 2001 at 23:05
I think it was Bob's mind that flew out the window. This album kicks ass!!!

From: Mike G. Date: June 26, 2001 at 9:48
This album DOES NOT suck!! This is one of those straight foward hard rock/metal records that really kick ass. Although this is pretty average metal, several songs do stand out and rock pretty hard!!

From: right on Bob! Date: July 21, 2001 at 21:37
This album is AWFUL!!!!!!!I know every band has it's fans, but the only fans of this band should be their moms. B-L-O-W-S! (really original name too!!!) Are all of these truckstop transvestites shrink-wrapping videos at the same Blockbuster factory, or do they work at separate locations???

From: metal_man73 Date: October 31, 2001 at 19:30
Let Bob have his opinion even if it is not a good one.(Is that crackhead Bob?)Anyway, these guys define hard/ sleaze rock!!! They had some cool videos too!!!The lyrics to 'Scratch My Back' rock!

From: Vixen75 Date: November 19, 2001 at 10:15
Eventhough Bob AINT right he does have his right to an opinion. But i say Roxx Gang ROCKS!!!!!

From: ted Date: December 22, 2001 at 9:52

From: peter Date: January 8, 2002 at 10:17
Great songs, top class musician ship and an amazing feel good vibe!! This is one of my all time top 10 albums along with albums from the likes of Vain, Enuff 'Z Nuff, Pretty Boy Floyd, Poison, Mötley Crüe, Guns 'N Roses and Tuff.

From: Kim Date: March 14, 2002 at 8:44
Great stuff. Good production and songs that are far better than most bands in that genre. Highly recomendable.

From: TIM Date: May 14, 2002 at 23:35
I know some individuals have made fun of the video for Scratch My Back, but I love that video. I have it on one of their discs and on vhs.

From: Desslar Date: May 16, 2002 at 3:35
This is total crap. That Scratch My Back number is the only song that's even listenable, and it's still pretty laughable. Nightmarish.

From: Swedish rocker Date: May 19, 2002 at 18:21
This album is very good. Although it is not one of my favourites. It is a bit to boring, I think. But still a very good and solid record.

From: richierocker Date: May 23, 2002 at 17:14
If foolish consistency is considered as your favorite heavy metal hobgoblin, than this album should be right up your alley. i like the album but I was a little dissapointed. I love Scratch my Back.

From: d.a.n 69 Date: June 25, 2002 at 20:13
this is total crap for you desslar.....poor young boys..

From: cultusatanas Date: July 8, 2002 at 22:30
I used to see these guy's way back in the day when they we're called Prisoner. They kicked a lot of ass back in the day. Eric Carol still lives on as one of my favourite guitarist's(R.I.P. brother). Myke in St.Pete

From: Gar Date: August 20, 2002 at 22:44
Liked their image, but their music was pretty generic. They sound a lot like Faster Pussycat, but their songs aren't as good.

From: roxxoff Date: August 22, 2002 at 19:14
The worst glam band ever to grace the earth! No comprehension of the words melody and tact! Saw them at the the Astoria 89 and wasted a pint of beer on these guys. ARGHHHHHHH!!!

From: RichieRocker Date: August 22, 2002 at 21:22
Great band! and animalistic lyrics and guitar playing, This is a must for glam fans.

From: Baris Date: September 10, 2002 at 6:53
When I had listened that album for the first time in 1989 I had got absolutely impressed. This is a real top-quality band and has nothing less than Motley Crue (the 'less' may be a Pamela Anderson for their drummer!). Even if it doesn't give me the same adrenalin today (except 'Scratch My Back', 'No Easy Way Out' and 'Red Rose') it's a real rockin' stuff...

From: Baris Date: September 10, 2002 at 6:59
ah, also the Twisted Sister type of cover is great

From: Metal_ED Date: October 6, 2002 at 20:53
This is truely one for the collection!! At the time they were a tight kick-ass band w/ attitude! It's a shame they never really got their due!!!

From: RoxxGangFan Date: October 17, 2002 at 19:06
For all of you who know good music when they hear it, and have the great understanding that Roxx Gang is one of the best rock bands ever! Let me tell you that Roxx Gang is still alive and well in St. Pete, FL. About to release their 8th cd, which let me tell you will kick ass, have heard the songs live already. Roxx Gang plays live in the Tampa - St. Pete area almost every weekend. Anyone who lives in a days drive should come check out a show. Check show dates a www.roxxxgang.com Richis~

From: RichieRocker Date: October 18, 2002 at 18:52

From: Leon Date: November 1, 2002 at 17:13
This album is realy funny Great solos and good compositions. I don't realy like ala L.A. bands but this is OK.

From: Jay Date: November 2, 2002 at 15:48
This CD is pretty good, bought at in 1989 and still have the record somewhere 'Race with the devil' and 'Too cool for school' are just fun, like the rest of the album

From: Brian Date: December 28, 2002 at 0:30
One of my favorite albums.'Scratch My Back', 'No Easy Way Out',and 'Red Rose' are classics! 'Voodoo You Love' was solid too with great sleazy songs but after that they changed their sound, unfortunately.A little too much twang, blues and soul on 'Mojo Gurus'.

From: koogles Date: February 28, 2003 at 1:48
Uninspired and generic. First two songs are okay, but goes downhill faster than Vin Diesel during that ski scene in XXX.

From: vikingo666 Date: March 17, 2003 at 17:35

From: ken N.C Date: May 29, 2003 at 23:59
this band rocked my ass off and all i turned on to them!

From: FRATELLO Date: June 21, 2003 at 5:47
Two first tracks are great!!! The rest a kinda boring. I rate it 7.0

From: Harvey Date: June 29, 2003 at 10:07
An interesting debut. Kinda like Ratt. Very testosterone fuelled and teenage, but fun nonetheless. Definitely of its era...not dated well, but good to listen to for nostalgia purposes.

From: Dirtybluemetal Date: July 21, 2003 at 1:11
Is there any truth that Roxx Gang guitarist Wade Hayes is the SAME Wade Hayse that sings country music nowdays?

From: Brian Date: July 21, 2003 at 15:38
No, Dirtybluemetal, its not the same Wade Hayes that sings country music.

From: metal T Date: August 5, 2003 at 12:55
This is a pretty nice slab of 80's metal, too bad the rest of their records are mediocre crap!

From: Date: January 21, 2004 at 0:04
Easily one of the best CDs of the late 80's!!!

From: Metal T Date: May 2, 2004 at 22:23
This is still a kick-ass record. After 15+ years it has aged pretty d*mn well. A shame Roxx' didn't continue with this line up .-------

From: James Date: June 4, 2004 at 1:22
i think this is an excellent 80s hard rock band!! No Easy Way Out, Scratch My Back, Too Cool For School, and Live Fast, Die Young KICK ASS!!!!!!!! ROCK ON PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!

From: Geoff Date: September 23, 2004 at 7:21
Bob is hilarious, but maybe a little quick to judge. I also got the tape of this ages ago and just throught it was crap - one of the first tapes I EVER got. That said, I also once thought Vain was crap, so what the f*ck did I know!!! Either way, in time I realised that stellar riffs such as those found in 'Scratch my back','Live fast','Nine lives' are killer, 'No easy way out' is commercial hard rock bliss, 'Red rose' is a cool ballad and it's a great CD! Poor lyrics, awesome hard rock!!!

From: CC Date: October 23, 2004 at 10:19
Finally replaced my old cassette with the Perris reissue......I am a happy man!

From: Scott Date: November 14, 2004 at 1:56
I said it in January and I'll say it again "Easily one of the best CDs of the late 80's!!!"

From: dcstardust Date: December 5, 2004 at 15:38
I own this on cassette. In 1988 when I bought it, I thought it was great, and you know what it still is. No better party music than glam metal from the 1980's. My personal favorite track is "Red Rose". If you're a fan of the genre, get this record!

From: pt88 Date: February 27, 2005 at 20:32
remember loving this back in the day..though it seemed pretty 1 dimensional..hinsight is 20/20

From: beth1979 Date: October 7, 2005 at 2:59
I don't know why some ppl here thinks this sucks, because is doesn't. C'mon, who can listen to "No Easy Way Out" and then say they suck. Kevin Steele's voice sounds great, something like Bon Scott meets Paul Stanley, the guitarist totally rule, with the harmonys and everything. This band ROXX! Period.

From: Joshy St. Jaimz Date: October 15, 2005 at 7:07
IMO one of the best releases of '88. Poison, Crue and Def Lep had all the attention, and these guys flew in under the radar. 'Scratch my Back' and 'No Easy Way Out' are out and out sleaze classics. 'Need your Sex', 'Nine Lives', 'Race With The Devil', 'Too Cool For School'....Roxx Gang (or Kevin Steele, as he bascially IS Roxx Gang) KNEW how to make good glam/party tracks. This one comes highly recommended. The Perris reissue comes with the vid clips for 'No Easy Way Out' and 'Scratch My Back'

From: strinealleycat Date: June 9, 2006 at 22:32
Roxx Gang is now known as Mojo Gurus. They released a very good album called Shakin In The Barn in 2005.(mojogurus.com) The music is more rockabilly, but still cool. The album was produced by veteran rock producer Jack Douglas, and is out nationwide on a major label. Latter day Roxx Gang guitarist Stacey Blades is now in L. A. Guns.

From: RageXIII Date: July 28, 2007 at 23:30
While I like almost every song, "Ball N Chain" is one of my all-time favorite songs and make it worth buying this cd for it alone! I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this song as a standout track. Quite a few of my friends comment on this song when I make them hard rock compilations. Oh well, to each his own.

From: aorluver Date: November 10, 2007 at 14:56
VERY UNDERRATED BAND MUCH BETTER THAN THEIR RIVALS AT THAT TIME.A CROSS OF CIRCUS OF POWER AND EARLY GUNSNROSES. THIS RECORD IS THEIR BEST AND A PEARL OF ITS KIND A MANDATORY LISTEN !1

From: shark attack Date: July 27, 2008 at 13:32
Looking like a bunch of transsexual hookers on a night out in hell, Roxx Gang define sleaze as they grind their way through 10 slices of decadence and depravity that would put the Crue to shame. With the bands shortcomings becoming an asset (singer Kevin Steele's booze ravaged rasp adding a rough and ready charm to the hack and slash of the music's coke fuelled metal) this is a release that defines the sunset of the glam metal years, when wannabe rock stars outnumbered the stripper girls and record executives in a drug infused fog signed up every glammed up pretty boy in hope of a huge pay day, not knowing that the roller-coaster was about to fly of the rails. 87/100

From: edwithmj Date: June 16, 2009 at 15:46
Not a bad album but definitely not that good either. The songs sound too similar to each other for me and the singer looks and sounds like Paul Stanley (not a bad thing, just saying). The album contains some top class guitar work however which is why it wasn't a total waste of my money but this style of music is done so much better by a lot of different bands.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: May 5, 2011 at 9:04
Usually the raw, sleazy glam sound appeals to me about as much as having a firecracker shoved up my ass but there is something about this band that snags my ears and holds my attention. This is definitely one of those albums where the whole is superior to the sum of its parts: the vocals are a little too raspy, the guitars really aren't anything special, the hooks are standard issue stuff, and the gang vocal choruses are as predictable as basic arithmetic. Yet somehow, against the odds, when you put it all together, it works rather well. Sure, it's been done before and done much better, but that doesn't mean there isn't any hard rock satisfaction to be found here. There are plenty of CDs I'll listen to long before I'll reach for this one, but every once in awhile my ears crave a little helping of what Roxx Gang has to offer.

From: the rocker Date: January 13, 2012 at 19:00
I like this cd, good debut. Nothing ground breaking, but fit right in with the times. Sleazy rock with sing along choruses. Scratch My Back always makes it on my 80's hard rock comps. No Easy Way Out, Red Rose, & Nine Lives are my picks.

From: steve72 Date: January 16, 2012 at 5:36
For me Roxx Gang starts and ends with this release. Great songs, sleek production, killer guitar and a badass image convened to create a classic of it's time & place! The success of this debut album rides on the line up and the twin axe attack of Wade Hayes and Jeff Taylor. Their playing really shines through and adds some real muscle and flair to the songs. This album can hang it's hat with some of the best of it's era... Essential for any aficionado of fine rock/glam/sleaze

From: bigfatpig Date: July 28, 2012 at 14:23
the Gangsters never really got a fair shake...Kinda like the red headed stepchild of the 80s...They shoul've been given the support role on a major tour back in the day...instead of the Warrants, & the Poisons from back in the day...! Fantastic debut album !!

From: 123charpenay Date: December 3, 2013 at 16:12
very great american hard rock.excellent riff and solo s guitar but...the voice of the "singer" is a pity.he don t sing really he have absoluty no voice.a shame cause with a real great singer this record could be a killer realise.
