Awesome collection!! This album really shows how great RATT is. It`s amazing alsoo to think about why this band have not goten any bigger when they had so many great songs. A must have for anyone who are into glam metall(that`s what I call RATT`s music anyway).

Ratt & Roll 81-91 is definitely one of the best single greatest hits cds I have ever run across. From the band's early songs taken from their E.P. all the way through 'Detonator', this is a very solid hits collection and the song placement is organised quite well, I should mention. Besides the remastering and everything, you should really buy Ratt's hit collection for the bonus track "Nobody Rides For Free", if for no other reason. It really is worth cashing out the extra dough. Worth the money!

Good collection of songs. Starts off solid and finishes strong, although there are a few songs in the middle that sound pretty similar. The film you are thinking of is Point Break.

Is it just me, or is anyone else wondering why "Heads I Win, Tails You Lose" is on every Ratt greatest hits or best of compilation cd. I think that song is absolute garbage and Ratt has so many other great songs they could be including instead of that one!

One of the best single-disc compilations out there of any band. You get all the Ratt hits and near-hits and even some semi-deep cuts, and a couple from the EP too. My only gripe: too much from Detonator. I would've taken off a couple of those tracks and replaced them with "Morning After," "Dangerous But Worth the Risk" and "Walkin' the Dog."

Honestly, this is the only Ratt disc you'll ever need! While Out of the Cellar & Detonator were solid overall efforts, I never thought Ratt put out anything where EVERY song was listenable. This disc encompasses all of Ratt's best songs in one neat little package. The only songs I would've considered adding are "7th Avenue" and "City to City". * Am I the only one who thinks "I Want a Woman" was SORELY under-rated? That song RULES!

Awesome disc, I agree with the Fizz, too much Detonator stuff, but I would replace it with more from Out Of The Cellar like "In Your Direction" and "You're In Trouble". OOTC defined the Ratt sound IMHO. "Walkin' The Dog" would've been nice though too...

This is my favorite band and this is the best best of disc there is. I am only 14 years old and all the other kids my age are listening to punk shit. I'm into 80's hard rock and metal. I saw this band live a couple of months back with Jizzy Pearl as the vocalist. I wish it would have been Pearcy but oh well. They still rocked. Anyways the only bad song on this is heads i win and tails you lose. At least I think so.

Admit it, Ratt were never the most consistent band. There best songs really were their radio hits and singles. This collects all of them and throws in a very good soundtrack tune ("Nobody Rides For Free") and ends up being one of the essential best of albums put out by a hard rock band. 10/10

It sounds good to read that some young kids like Josh are into 80's metal. I'm still hope they will be legions tomorrow !!! Maybe we'll find new 80's era in the 00's or 10's !

Is anyone can tell me why Robbin don't appear in "Nobody rides for free" videoclip ? And I'm not sure but it seems that the bassist was Robbie Crane and not Juan. If someone can light me...

Even though there are alot of boots and soundboards out there,it's a d*mn shame that RATT never had an "official" live record.Surely, their label-Atlantic could've made it possible, given the fact RATT was a successful act and sold well for them.I don't know maybe Stephen or Warren has some old recorded live' material that has yet to see the light of day.Anyway, a great band and "RATT N ROLL 81-91 is documented proof ! ----

This almost is a 10/10 release as it does actually have a lot of Ratt's best. They're all killer and we all know that, but I guess the only track worth commenting on here that can't be noted otherwise is the excellent 'Nobody rides for free'. Ah, the pride I get whenever I put 'Point break' on - what a song for the real and original Ratt to finish on!!! Killer tune, perfect CD!

RATT WERE AWESOME!!!!!

Like Poison, I was never really a big fan of them or Ratt. But like Poison, I bought their greatest hits CD and...well... WOW! Great CD's! All the songs are great glam / pop / hard rock classics in my opinion. 'One step away' remains one of my favorite songs by this band. Rock on Ratt!

All of their albums through "Detonator" simply rock. Any fan who missed out on the glory days in the 80's of hair metal should pick up their first 5 albums, plus the first EP. Still, for only the casual fan, this cd is a good overview but much is missing due to so much to pick from. Anything after 1990 that the band did is simply crap & "grunge" surely helped killed Ratt's career.

Fans of this band should devour this "best of" collection like a pack of starving rats feasting on a decomposing corpse. Ratt has always known how to rock your ass off and here they show that they also know the proper way to put out a greatest hits release. You get songs from their entire discography, not just the big radio hits, but deeper cuts as well, along with the absolutely-essential "Nobody Rides for Free" off the "Point Break" soundtrack. Bottom line, if you don't own this one, you need to roll your ass to the nearest store or online vendor and pick up a copy today.

Ratt is a band where most of their best songs were singles, so that makes for a pretty great best-of compilation. The only gripe, a little too much Detonator, which could've been replaced by the likes of "The Morning After," or "Dangerous But Worth The Risk."

From: 123charpenay |

hi doghouse reilly detonator is the best ratt s record so it s logic that in a ratt s best of detonator s songs are presents in numbers.....after a best of is like a live record inevitably some real great songs are missed.

I disagree about Detonator, but definitely do agree about compilations and live albums: you're not going to please everybody with the tracklist. It's just kind of a surprise, considering that Ratt 'n' Roll came out barely a year after Detonator was released, and frankly, Detonator didn't do very well commercially, despite bringing in Desmond CHild to help get them some hits.

Ratt for me were for me on a par with the likes of Crue and Poison when it came to singles, but unlike those two bands their albums nearly always had a lot of filler tracks that never really hooked me (not bad, just not that hooky). So when I picked this up way back in 1991 I was blown away by just how good this album was. With all the singles on it, it really was their strongest work all combined into one album. Compared to many compilations this one had a lot of tracks on it, but not one single one of them was bad. A lot of best ofs have one or two songs you can live without, but this one hits a home run on every track.

I agree with Doghouse. Far too much Detonator is on here. The only tracks worth having from it are Hard Time and Lovin' You's a Dirty Job. Detonator is Ratt going commercial in order to get more sales. I like commercial, but most of the songs are garbage; Ratt should've stuck to the formula on the first three albums. The only song from Reach for the Sky that should be on here is I Want a Woman; Way Cool Jr is lyrically and musically horrendous. I know this is a singles release but Dance and Body Talk from Dancing Undercover are awful choices. What about 7th Avenue, Looking For Love, Enough is Enough and Drive Me Crazy? As for Invasion, I would've preferred You Should Know By Now, Between The Eyes and Dangerous But Worth The Risk. THAT would be my Ratt compilation.
