For all the POS'S who claim '80s axemen couldn't play- this clearly puts it to rest. I'm not saying the fans of this site think that, I just hear it mainly from ex-band members who can't play period. These people were not any good and were rejected by major labels and they criticize the type of music that is on this site. They usually become guitar instructors or self- proclaimed mucis gurus who open up a music store. The guys here did make it, whether they were big time or small fish.

Make that "music gurus."

I say it's the american version of Judas Priest!Brilliant fast as hell incisive twin guitar work!Good straight ahead american Priestish sounding metal.Good hard, fast hitting drummer.Strong vocals hitting high notes quite often!I just can't believe Paul left this band to form Mr.Shitty(Mr.Big)!Maybe to make some extra bucks. But he's back!Technical Dificulties and Superheroes!Great comeback!

The only weak poit is that the singer wasn't good live as he was in studio!Ah!he was also a drummer!Played on the last Badlands album! On the comeback his singing is pretty much better! And the new live album(Live in Wiskey)rocks!Unfortunelly the DVD was only realesed in Japan and costs a fortune the import!!

I would say that this album is a showcase for Paul Gilbert's flash soloing, but still is a great album, with great songs, strong speed/heavy metal somewhat similar to Malmsteen's Rising Force (one of the finest tracks, Y.R.O., is very similar to Black Star). Into The Night, Dangerous Love, the funny Rock It and the aforementioned Y.R.O. are the best track (Notice John Alderete's superb playing especially on this one)

Yeahh..I remember putting on this album and suddenly i could hear where a band like Primal Fear gor their influence..COOL! Real 80's album! I've always loved Gilbert but this was way before his commercialization...Did U know that Y.R.O stands for Yngwie Rip Off? HAHAHA Gotta love it! Indicates that Gilbert knows what he's doing...Not just another boring Yngwie Copy! Like they said in Spinal Pap:Good thing yngwie put the J in his name so he wouldn't get confused with all the other Yngwie's around

From: metalcraze Date: December 22, 2003 at 2:24
Awsome guitar works by Paul Guilbert indeed! Just as good as Yngwie Malmsteen & George Lynch! Great lyrics and cool harmonical sound. This band has a unique something you don't hear every day out of most rock bands... GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AMAZING CD , Paul shows he can play fast as hell and yet make great rythem (at age 18) I haven't heard "2nd heat" yet but if its like anything like this it also will be a true work of art. I also love the drum work in this album.

From: Scandinavia Date: January 21, 2004 at 7:10
I'd say "Second Heat" is a bit more commercial. Better production too but the tracks in general are weaker. "Second Heat" is worth the money for the Priest song "Heart Of A Lion" alone...

The song Street Leather would have been perfect for that movie The Wraith.

Racer X are probably my fave of these metallic metal guitar hero sort of bands. They're all pretty even, but I quite like thier first 2 CDs. 'Dangerous love', 'Getaway', 'Into the night' and 'On the loose' are my faves and to be honest those 4 are all pretty damn killer tracks. The rest is pretty standard metallic stuff and very skippable, but those tracks are great!!!

From: Cord Date: February 14, 2006 at 20:53
Loud and Clear, Into the Night and Dangerous Love alone make the purchase price worth it! I can't think of a better debut album by anyone.

pretty good debut by RACER X back in 86.classic american heavy rock with screaming vocals, big riffs and great guitar solos.the songwriting is remearkable and there are a few great songs like 'getaway","into the night" and "hotter than fire".good release
