Not Quiet Riot in the slightest!! Rod Stewert-ish vocalist can't even touch DuBrow's vocals. What were they thinking? I'm glad they went back to the original line up now. This cd is at least a 6.0 for the music, but still again...should have been released under a different band name and not ruined the legend of Quiet Riot. Saw them recently at local bars and let me tell you, Carlos can still shred a guitar and Frankie and Rudy still thump you. They lost a few steps, but still worth checking out

From: SIXXSWINE Date: October 9, 2001 at 12:28
Bassist # 3 on this one, NO Kevin, same tired, boring & stale production by Proffer. I think I liked the band better when they were called ROUGH CUTT, at least then they wrote better songs.... 3.0 on the SWINE SCALE

From: 3RD_RAIL@37.COM Date: October 20, 2001 at 10:49
DIFFERENT SINGER OR NOT I LIKED THIS ALBUM MUSICALLY GUITAR SOUNDS WERE NEW AND COOL I GIVE IT A 8/10 NOT AS MUCH SCREAMING AS THERE PAST IT'S A RARE ONE

From: Harvey Date: November 16, 2001 at 9:39
SIXXSWINE...I agree with a lot of your, more considered, opinions but are you kidding!! This was the only decent Quiet Riot album. It ahd subtlety in abundance, no songs about "clapping your hands and stomping your feet" (see the DuBrow years) and Paul Shortino was fantastic. As far as Rough Cutt go..don't even get me started. Doesn't anyone like there metal laced with a bit of style and sass instead of songs about rocking hard and defeating black widows etc. This is the whole reason Van Halen b

From: Harvey Date: November 16, 2001 at 9:41
.. Van Halen blew Black Sabbath off stage in the late 70's. They were careful, clever and steared clear of cod metal cliches. Think, think, think.

From: José Carlos Date: February 26, 2002 at 4:00
Increible, no suena como los demás discos de QR por la voz de Shortino, pero la verdad es que éste se sale, repito, increible discazo.

From: ted Date: March 30, 2002 at 19:33
mravilloso cd de hard AOR con un paul shortino q alcanza la perfección lírica .temas como "run to you" o " i don´t wanna be your fool" son verdaderas obras maestras

From: curt Date: March 31, 2002 at 7:36
I have to agree also with Harvey. This Quiet Riot album was a good one and so was the first and second album also. Just a different mix on this one so I give it a 7.5.

From: Tony Date: April 29, 2002 at 19:07
Well taken on it's own it's not a half bad bluesy rock album. Horrible production though and the lyrics are downright humiliating and embarassing to listen to now but the musicianship is just awesome. I was stoked when this album came out because I loved Shortino with Rough Cutt but was dissapointed in the songwriting and the songs just sound like they're trying WAY too hard to be taken seriously!!

From: Desslar Date: April 29, 2002 at 20:50
Doesn't sound anything like QR (except maybe for King of the Hill), but not bad over all. A little like Whitesnake, heavy on ballads. Most of the harder songs suck though.

From: tomcat Date: May 22, 2002 at 6:35
i bought this lp years after i saw the video for 'stay with me tonite'. this album has a more bluesier feel than the previous lps but i like this album alot and i would give it an 8. its time i pull it out again and give it a spin.although my recordplayer is uninstalled and i'm lazy...anyone have mp3's? tomcat@dolfijn.nl

From: adam Date: June 8, 2002 at 23:56
I really like this album. Yes, it has a different sound but i wasn't a big fan of QR for a long time and did not really have a feel for the band's original sound. I like the album enough to say listen to it but don't have a preconcieved idea of what it will sound like. just think of it as a new rock band out you have to listen to and you will be pleased

From: vladi Date: June 30, 2002 at 10:01
I don't like this album, but the song "Don't Wanna Be Your Fool" is good hard rock power ballad like WHITESNAKE's "Is This Love".

From: Wizard Date: August 6, 2002 at 12:14
These kids who write these reviews are so out of touch of the metal then. Paul Shortino Kicked ass on one of the best QR albums to date that Dubrow wished he could sing like that not to mention the great Albums he did with Rough Cutt and his solo efforts that will bang your friggin head. Great album from them and too bad they didnt keep on recording more with him....

From: robert Date: October 22, 2002 at 9:58
Esta de p m este disco. esto es hard rock puro.

From: Date: November 26, 2002 at 15:45
Really good album from one of hard rock's great pioneering 80s bands! "The Joker" and "Don't Wanna Be Your Fool" are classic!!!

From: Date: December 24, 2002 at 2:20
I always thought that Quiet Riot was a donkey band'cause all of their albums are a poor demostration of donkey rock, but this one is a line in the water.I think Paul Shortino kicks out the ridiculous former singer in this amazing effort. This is AN INCREDIBLE CD forget the other pieces of shit. For contact:westofsunset@hotmail.com

From: AOR-MESSIAH Date: January 13, 2003 at 16:31
My favourite Quiet Riot Disc ever. I like Shortino's Vox, so I'm biased. Good Bluesy Rock in Whitesnake Vein.

I tried to get into this album, but I just couldn't. Shortino is a great vocalist and all but This album didn't do much for me. Carlos still can kick ass and shred the axe like an animal!!!

From: Rober Date: May 9, 2003 at 10:52
El mejor disco de Quiet Riot, Shortino es genial. Tiene temazos.

From: lover of krel Date: May 28, 2003 at 23:58
This stuff rocks it's like a blues and pop version of quiet riot. more melodic and the vocals are more 70's sounding

From: Alejandro Date: June 13, 2003 at 12:49

Are you guys out there all reverb-freaks like me? Dry just doesn't work. Kind of like---nah, don't want to get banned again. Hey, I love you guys!

From: Gar Date: August 12, 2003 at 16:46
Gasp! It's the Paul Shortino album! Actually, it is a good disc though its pretty far removed from what they did with Kevin DuBrow. Lacks that whole "in your face" approach. Not a bad album by any stretch, but it just didn't do it for me.

From: diego Date: October 13, 2003 at 0:01
ya no es lomismo.despues de las descargas anteriores ,este album me sabe un poco chato .para amantes del hard rock .buena king of the hill y run to you es una magnifica lenta.

Don't think of this as a Quiet Riot disc without Kevin DuBrow, think of it as a Paul Shortino solo effort, with some members of Quiet Riot backing him! There, makes it a little easier to swallow, huh? Seriously, I love this disc, with "Callin' the Shots", "The Joker", "Stay With Me Tonight",and "Coppin' a Feel" being personal faves. If you like Rough Cutt (the Cutt) grab this one,as I think you'll enjoy it as well.

From: Josep Maria Date: November 13, 2003 at 12:41
The best QR album, no doubt! Shortino is the man! And what about the riffs? Incredible!

From: madcaplaughs Date: January 22, 2004 at 12:24
THe ONLY good QR album. "Run to You" is amazing! and most importantly...no Slade covers!!! They should have changed their name for the album...too good for Quiet Riot. Shortino is one of the best!

From: C. Pterodactilu Date: February 3, 2004 at 20:36
I'm listening to Qr with that shortino guy... Man, this is what a change of singer can do to a band (some times it can take it to a higher level) this is no the case. Quiet Riot burried it self after this album.I was glad when DuBrow rejoined the band, but nothin was the same after Shortino. Now, they have to pay the price... What price? To become just another band in the long line of rock n roll bands. They had their success, their golden days. The same happened to Motley, Ratt.

From: Lynchomaniac Date: March 22, 2004 at 19:34
I think that this is QR best album to this date, Shortino sings the socks off the lame DuBrow! Better songs and better perfomances than ever before. Stay with me tonight, king of the hill and Coppin' a feel not forgetting the wonderful ballad Run to you! Smashin'!!!

From: Rocktron Date: April 16, 2004 at 8:49
I cannot find this CD anywhere in England. However, I have a copy of one titled "The Collection" which has 4 or 5 tracks from this album. They are excellent tracks with the typical QR sound and Carlos's lead guitar. If the other tracks are anything similar then this would be an excellent album. I do like Shortino's voice - "Stay With Me Tonight" and "Don't Want To Be Your Fool" are lovely tracks, and beautifully sung. I must seek this out when I visit New York. Rocktron from England.

From: dave Date: May 5, 2004 at 0:32
I always thought this band had too much of a early crue sound for my taste. I like paul's voice and there are some cool songs here, like stay with me, don't wanna be your fool and empty promises is f.ckin awesome. If you really like the early records, you won't like this, but I think the playing on this is tasty and I love that!

From: koogles Date: July 9, 2004 at 14:34
Second time in history that a band, using its original name, has released a CD without any original members. What was the first hard rock band to do it? Prism and the Henry Small-minded decision to use the Prism name in '83 for what rightfully should have been a solo album ("Beat Street"). All trivia aside, this CD really doesn't add up to a Quiet Riot CD. Another in a very long list of bands found coiled around the Whitesnake influence of '87.

From: Axelinger Date: July 9, 2004 at 15:28
After seeing Cavazo in the picture above, I'm compelled to ask, "What time is he jousting against The Black Knight this afternoon, Your Majesty?"...

BTW I bought this when it came out and I still consider it a horrible disappointment...and I love just about everything Shortino's ever done. To me this was a big steamin' crap sandwich with extra cheese.

From: Axelinger Date: July 10, 2004 at 14:25
Hark! Yea and verily, cuz Cavazo RULEZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!1, sire...

From: Ratt72 Date: August 22, 2004 at 1:57
Its a good cd, but this album should be called as Quiet Cutt or Rough Riot, but NEVER as the truly QR album, Paul Shortino its an amazing singer, but he wasnt confortble in the Kevin shoes.

From: Metalhead Date: October 11, 2004 at 12:08
Best album Quiet Riot ever made. To bad Dubrow's remarks in the earlier years would effect those buying this CD. If the band would have changed their name, they would have gotten the respect that they deserved for this project. Paul Shortino still remains one of the best singers during this era. Carlos's guitar playing was the best he ever has done.

From: Kryiis Karl Date: October 22, 2004 at 2:30
QR or what's the difference between having average singer and very good one ??? Shortino makes the whole difference, a touch of soul and of class. The only QR I would buy again today, no doubt. Excellent release.

From: Dave Date: November 20, 2004 at 22:13
If you want to hear Paul Shortino at his very best , check out "Shortino" It's About Time and "Paul Shortino's The Cutt" Sacred Place and he will show you why he is just and i mean just behind the likes of Paul Rodgers ,Rob Lamothe,Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale in the elite of rock vocalists.

From: Propane Date: December 3, 2004 at 0:45
Abismal flop. Vocals should not have been tampered with in the case of this band. Vocals were the crux of the band in this case. I wouldn't buy this.

From: ChrisSlade Date: December 9, 2004 at 17:50
Their best effort to date! Paul and Sean were an incedible addition to the band. You can really tell Carlos and Frankie got a challenge musically, total MASTERPIECE!!!

From: Rab Date: January 11, 2005 at 16:53
They should have used a different name but this is still the best album QR ever made. Shortino is an amazing vocalist. Great songs - turn up the bass for Empty Promises, it'll blow you away. Stay with me tonight - superb and you gotta see that video, hot or what!

This is the ONLY Quiet Riot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: darobinson Date: October 16, 2007 at 18:13
Paul Shortino is terrible. The band members made a poor choice when they picked him. Never heard him sing good on any song except for Dreamin' Again on the Rough Cutt S/T album. That's it....

From: David sleaze Date: January 25, 2008 at 23:53
the really quiet album from quiet riot.....

From: rick kerch vzla Date: December 26, 2008 at 21:23
Paul Shortino is not terrible!!!...he just wasn't the right man 4 QR honestly...in fact he lasted only 4 one album (this one in fact). The only song i recall and in my humble and personal criteria was a good one was the semi-ballad "Don't Wanna Be Your Fool",the rest were more up and down songs with some kind of quality but easy forgeteables...80/100

From: hair metal again Date: September 1, 2009 at 1:29
this is excellent and with the previous one simply the best quiet riot releases.shortino sounds huge, carlos gives it good and the result is big.just listen to the masterpiece "don t wanna be your fool", to the great "run to you" and to the rocker "callin the shots".great hair metal era back then, quiet riot tried to adjust and i think they made it.the accident with them is that they always had a strong heavy metal base of fans who prefer bang their heads than get real high with kickin ass hard rock

From: metalhead4life Date: September 1, 2009 at 11:41
This is a good album; pleasant 80's hard rock. Has some good songs here: 1, 3, 4, 8, and 11 stand out for me. Check out the outro lead guitar on "Run To You" which is my fave song from this one - awesome catchy lead from C. Cavazo (great guitar player), I always crank it up!! 80/100; you should check it out if you're a big 80's hair band fan - like me.

From: metalhead4life Date: September 1, 2009 at 11:42
This also looks like it's becoming a little $$ pricey $$

From: edwithmj Date: December 16, 2010 at 17:58
Damn this album is brilliant! Shortino really injected Quiet Riot with some fresh ideas. Stand out tracks for me are Run To You and the outstanding I'm Fallin'.

From: shoemaker Date: December 17, 2010 at 12:15
THese two songs were the only once I liked from this album!

From: rockhardrock Date: February 5, 2011 at 14:06
the only two songs that I really like here are stay with me tonight and don't wanna be your fool.

From: Ydol eM Date: June 17, 2013 at 15:37
I like this QR's diversion with Paul Shortino on vox more than any of their other albums. It reminds me Y&T a lot, partly early Whitesnake, Bonham, Strangeways (Native...) or early Kingdom Come, so it is about hard rock with bluesy and aor-ish elements. 85/100.

From: dany69 Date: March 24, 2019 at 19:16
Find it today in first pressing ( Of Course ) very very not bad,,,,for 5$ 7 on 10 on my scale,,,
