Awesome release from former Harem Scarem drummer. Alot of Mix going on here with Modern, 80's and Pop and it all comes together nicely. The only weird thing about the cd is that the Nazareth cover seems to not fit on the cd. On top of that, I don't like the way it was redone with the 'Green Day' type riffage and tempo. Still a solid 9/10

Excellent disc, as you'd expect from an ex-H.S member. What is it with these guys? Creighton Doane's 2 solo's are both excellent, so is Harry Hess', and Lesperance's is of course awesome. This is the most varied, mixing up some punk, modern rock, and some MHR. The results are excellent, with 'Keep the Spirit Alive' and 'Still on my Radio' being my faves. Only complaints being the running order - which doesn't seem to flow, and his gruff vocal style which grates a little. Recommended CD. 8.5/10.

I love everything Harem Scarem, but this is probably my least favourite project thus far, after the debut Rubber disc. I love 'There you go' and can enjoy the majority of the album quite easily, though some of it is a little annoying depending on your mood, and I agree with Tim - not a big fan of the vocals. Also, I only have 2 of the 3 bonus tracks above, but they're much better than most the album. 'So low' is very good and 'Taking on water' is the 2nd best of the album, IMO! Killer ballad!!!

Should also mention that this reminds me a lot of Doctor Rock and the Wild Bunch, though this is nowhere near as good. But this is recommended for fans of Dr Rock and the Rubber discs. Fans of early Harem Scarem only might be a little irritated by this disc. Good album, but would have liked a couple more killer tracks.

My fave release of 2005 so far,& that's saying something considering that we've had quality releases from Starbreaker,Heartland,Billy Idol, etc. already.I was very apprehensive when I picked this one up,as I can barely tolerate Harem Scarem, but my apprehension quickly faded as I heard the simply awesome power ballad "There You Go",as well as "Keep the Spirit Alive" & "Everybody Knows" which are faves as well. This one mixes elements of blues, pop, hard rock, modern rock, etc.. and does it DAMN well!

Judging by the positive comments here I may have to dig this one out again as the first time through was most unimpressive....

OK, so production sounds like a million bucks, but that was to be expected given the pedigree of the artist (a Harem Scarem member with poor production is as unlikely as a West Virginia crack whore with all her teeth). But all that really matters is, is it any good? Well, um...it's OK. My first spin impression was that it was a keeper. Since then, following a few more spins, it rapidly wore out its welcome like a mother-in-law who's still living at your house three weeks after Christmas. Of course, all this "nu-breed" style of modern rock has gradually begun scraping on my nerves, so it's entirely possible that this is actually better than I give it credit for, assuming you still enjoy this particular subgenre. Bottom line, this is painless to listen to, and there's nothing really wrong with it, but in the end, aside from a couple of songs, I found it rather forgettable. Matter of fact, what CD are we talking about again...??

a solo effort from the drummer of harem scarem ,why not?first good surprise darren smith is a good singer and a good guitarist.track 1 and 11 (clone of doctor rock and the wild bunch) are really excellent.the rest?too modern for me, not my cup of tea.the two bonus tracks are a real nightmare and are really totally useless.a shame for a guy who have the honor to play on maybe the best a o r record ever.(first harem scarem album).
